Do opiates ruin your nights sleep?

I used to not sleep on opiates because i would get really into whatever i was doing. When I was doing alot of heroin I would sit up all night playing diablo 2 lol. Also sometime when I'm trying to go to sleep I wouldn't be able to sleep because i would be itching so much

I can never sleep on heroin either, if i do enough to nod i nod but never actually fall asleep or that night either. I always wondered why this happened as it happened with the same heroin i got in tucson. I thought maybe it could be caffeine in the dope??? Or maybe its just a property of opiates. I have found this not sleeping on opiates to be particularly true of those who are not physically dependent.

Opiates in the past gave me a very nice night of sleep. But ever since I got addicted to them it turned into a stimulating effect for me, yet at the same time I feel sedated. Also the opiate itch just keeps me scraching myself.

Even after qutting for 5 months, I did a shot of heroin got really high, and still wasn't able to sleep. I would nod out, but during the night when I would be normally tired I lay in bed just nodding off and scraching myself.

Good for you CF! I need some motivation right now to do the same thing!

Thanks cameo. I ended up jumping off at .5gs daily, i was hoping to get down to .2-.1mgs daily or even every other day first but i couldn't take the withdrawal from tapering anymore. It wasn't too bad to handle, i was just sick of it after 8 months of minor withdrawal. So i bought a bunch of kratom, stopped taking suboxone, and so far it's going great. :)

My DOC is Opana and it use to help me sleep like a baby(I have sleeping problems when sober, probably because I adjusted myself to going to sleep high on pot for years then abruptly quit). I use to be able to do a line of Opana and drift off into the clouds..... lately though it hasn't been very pleasant. I find I can't sleep well on opiates anymore, when I try I sleep in a very paranoid state(as odd as it sounds). I'll finally fall asleep and then jump up randomly after a few minutes thinking someone is in my room. Not sure why opiates have been doing this to me lately, but I know its the opi's because when I go to bed sober(or on suboxone) I sleep fine with no paranoia at all.

It actually has gotten bad enough to where I had to take down a poster of biggie smalls from my closet door because I kept jumping up thinking it was a dude standing over my bed LOL. Only when i'm on opiates though.

Maybe I'm just subconciously paranoid.

I find with poppy tea, I sleep very well.

Tend to crash out at around 11 pm.

If I dose up early, the first few hours I'm euphoric, then the nods set in foe a few hours, then I have a long productive sleep.:)

i find it damn near impossible to fall asleep on oxys. Ill feel tired but just won't be able to actually sleep. Heroin however is another story. The best is waiting like 45 minutes after the H has worn off but you still have the residual relaxing effects and then going to sleep. Best sleep in the world and you wake up totally refreshed. Obviously it's not good to go to sleep while high on heroin (or atleast really high anything)

I cant sleep on any opiates/opiods ever and its extremely annoying but if i take some benadryl im usually good to go

Opiates have never made me drowsy per se. I have done enough to get the NOD I suppose, but usually I get wired to all hell.

If I shave and chop up 20mg of Oxymorphone and do a line every couple minutes or so till it's all gone, if its in the evening I won't sleep that night at all, and if I keep doing them I may not even sleep the next night.

For me personally it's not like I can't sleep I just enjoy myself and get occupied so easy while on the opiates that sleep just never crosses my mind.

this happens to me with hyrdocodone, weird trippy dreams in a very light sleep. they actually remind me a lot of going to sleep after rolling, only less intense.

Usually if I take 45-60mg Oxycodone at 9pm I can't fall asleep till about 3am, even if i was already really tired.

I do love the crazy vivid dreams a light nap on Oxycodone can cause though.

Usually if I put a movie on, I'll nod out here and there.

yea i feel good sleeping but i dont sleep really...just lay there dosing off.....feel pretty tired the net day from it which sucks

I, like many others here, have experienced "sleep disruption" on higher doses of either oxycodone or heroin, and only when I was first starting (wasn't physically dependent). Even then, I put "sleep disruption" in quotations because A) i can fall asleep okay, it is just I wake up and remain in a rather shallow state and B) i'm high on opioids, so i'm usually quite content about whatever sleep i'm getting lol. :);)

I can't sleep for some reason whenever i take opiates, i'm extremely restless all night.

If I try to fall asleep, I can. They used to have me wired a lot more than they do now, maybe because I take an anti-depressant now, or maybe because after taking lots and lots of adderall, whatever stimulating effect that painkillers have is merely a drop in the bucket. I really don't know, but my experiences are not typical in any way whatsoever apart from the itching, pupils, etc. I have only experienced nausea once and it quickly, quickly passed. I have never vomited, and I have never experienced withdrawal symptoms even after week-long binges.

In short, yes. Opiates act like uppers for me, and amp me, (in a "relaxing" way, which I am sure many here can relate to, even though it sounds like an oxymoron.) If I take opiates, I need at least a small crumb of some kind of benzo in order to be able to sleep that night. Conversely, taking opiates first thing in the morning energizes me, particularly when taken with coffee. It is like rocket fuel!

I have also had some crazy dreams while on opis, particularly back in the day when I wasn't a regular user & was new to them.

When taking them for pain relief no, when I get high I tend to stay awake to enjoy it then I fuck my husband within an inch of his life and drift off into a blissful sleep!

I have no trouble sleeping after injecting dilaudid... But STAYING asleep when withdrawals kick in ain't so easy. Luckily, that doesn't happen for 6-8 hours, which is a good night's rest.

But it means I pretty much have to take a hit right before bed.

I'd guess anyone hooked enough to get withdrawals has to do the same thing.

Right?
