Do opiates ruin your nights sleep?

I can't honestly say this has happened to me even once. If anything opiates make me sleep insanely long times, I've slept for 12 hours, 18 hours, 24+ hours before. It was to the point people were checking on me to make sure I hadn't died. I wasn't doing heroin, when I was taking like 120mg of ms-contin a day I slept at MINIMUM 8-10 hours everyday.

It may have to do with me being on them since I was like 11 though and I'm twenty something now. ( Though I've gotten clean, if only just recently )

Methadone at high doses is very stimulating to me. I can't sleep at all afterwards without the help of a benzo.

*About 45 minutes in, the drowsiness/slowed breathing sets in, causing me to lay down and attempt to nap. What ensues is usually very vivid CEVs that bring me to the brink of sleep, only to snap me back to reality suddenly and leave me wondering if I actually slept.

Same here. This would happen to me when I would take a rather large dose of poppy tea. At the right time, after I started nodding, I would get ready to sleep expecting a long rest, but after 30 min or so I would wake back up, go back to sleep, wake up again, go back to sleep, etc. etc. Eventually I'd stay asleep due to exhaustion. I agree with what someone said earlier about smoking. I smoke more cigs on opiates than I do when I take my dexedrine.

If ya'll are maintaining a habit, how do you keep a normal sleeping schedule?
