Do opiates ruin your nights sleep?

Do any of you get effected by opiates when it comes to sleep hours after they have worn off? I can not sleep for a damn until about 7 am after stopping around 11pm. When I try to lay down before that my mind begins to do all sorts of weird things which are very unpleasant. I remember one night i was laying there awake with my eyes closed, I started to like visualize myself living in another moment but this wasnt like a dream or anything close to that. Other things happen but I usually forget the specifics, but either way it is extremely annoying. I think i am done abusing opiates, I am sick of this happening. Anyone else get effects similar to this from opiates?

I am experiencing this as I type this message! Its 6:09am local time and I'm wired and wide awake after taking a large dose of oxycodone yesterday evening.

I know some people find oxycodone more stimulating than others, but beyond that I'm not sure what causes it,

Yeah I did some ron( heroin ) through the ol air ways myself. Maybe there is some part of us that does not want to get addicted, and some part of us makes the experience very unpleasant after the drug subsides.

SERIOUSLY depends on the opiate, hydrocodone and oxycodone can be stimulating at lower doses, same with codeine...which prevents me from going to sleep. A little antihistamine helps with that.

The "bigger guns" hydromorphone, morphine, oxymorphone and methadone (never tried heroin, but I imagine it is probably more sleepy than morphine) all have a nice dreamy effect to them...the first time I did morphine I had the best sleep of my life.

I like methadone a lot, morphine has got to be my favorite, however. I pretty much have to combine with it with a Dextrostat or a Red Bull unless nodding off is my intention!

What the OP described sounds like what I experience if I try to sleep while still tripping on acid.Never had a problem with opiates, but I have no tolerance to them either.

Here's how my opiate adventures usually go:

*The high, which consists of euphoria, enhanced creativity and a wandering mind. All the good effects I seek in opiates.

*About 45 minutes in, the drowsiness/slowed breathing sets in, causing me to lay down and attempt to nap. What ensues is usually very vivid CEVs that bring me to the brink of sleep, only to snap me back to reality suddenly and leave me wondering if I actually slept.

When I do manage to sleep on opiates, the dreams are so unpleasant I feel unrested upon waking.

When I was on opana I had to stop snorting lines at around 8 or 9pm to fall sleep around 12- 1am..... If I was high or a little buzzed I couldn't sleep at all....stuff keeps me wired like meth lol.... but once I level off or start coming down I can fall right asleep. Sometimes I knew when to redose once I started nodding off, after I dose its like I'm wide awake with tons of engery and feel amazing ;) I find it kinda interesting how the stuff was soooo stimulating to me, and when I first started coming down (about 5-7 hours after dose) I would get tired a few hours before withdrawal set in. Also if i try to sleep when i've taken too much oxymorphone I just lay there awake for hours and hours until i finally come down enough to dose off, hence why i've learned to stop dosing around 8 or 9 pm.....but i always wake up early feeling shity needing that morning dose :/

OC's have me wired, it would be 2am and Im up scrubbing the bathroom, but Heroine or opana dont get me wired like that. But I have noticed that there is a huge difference from my sleep habits from before when I wasnt doing opiates, to now that I do. I have also heard this from alot of people, now being addictive to opiates, sleep just doesnt come as easy as it used to, or there is a definate change in it.

Heroin always gave me the BEST sleep of my life, period.

Of course if it was long enough after my last dose i would have trouble sleep... I'd have trouble not projectile vomiting all over everything as well....

Codeine is my opioid of choice right now, and I always sleep great afterwards. The only problem is I will have more intense, lucid dreams and will start talking bullshit to my girlfriend. :D

^^ My girlfriend loves when i do full agonist opioids, i get a massively increased sex drive and a difficulty achieving orgasm, leading to marathon sex. :D The only problem is when im not on them now i have NO sex drive whatsoever, i could care less about doing it. :\

Hopefully that changes once I'm free of suboxone. (if all goes well i'll be suboxone/withdrawal free within 2 1/2 weeks since I stopped taking them 4 days ago.

^ Right, I get the opposite... I have a reduced sex drive on opioids and the difficulty achieving orgasm, but I do love to be intimate still with my girlfriend, giving her lots of cuddles and kisses. <8 :D

When I'm sober though I have quite a large sex drive. ;)

I been doin gear(H) for many years and I am a terrible insomniac. I think that once you get a habit, it affects everybody the same, when you take it just to stay straight.
