Discussing Bible Verses (What you say?)

I studied a lot of religions, they're basically all the same they have an exalted one, whether it be god, buddha, the Indian people have their female person I mean just a higher being, law of Attraction has the universe whatever vibration you're creating etc. Atheism has nothing no hope no nothing. My biggest question is my temple and my extracurricular activities does that go hand in hand if I keep it with things that actually come out of the Earth that are provided there I have an internal dilemma with that all the time anyone else?
All the time, but living in a world that all but logic.
Divided instead of unified, but no mainly me/ money/ more.

Well any escapisme with mother earth s herbs, or from a lab.
Dillema yes, a necessity though. Getting hooked is self torture,
so try to avoid that. Opium is a plant, good example right.

Atheism don t get that, its not genetic at least :)

Ps didn t study, well did but, but with friends from over the world.
Learned a lot about cultures and religions. Example islam,
one friend at his circumcision, only Dutch invited.
Woman Turkish with decollete s.

Other Turkish friend hardcore Islam, from rural area s.
Been in the house once, but think they saw me as Haram [not clean]
Halal being the opposite. Halal meat.

My other friend parents were highly placed intellectual people.
No resemblance same religion and land.

" Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. "

-- James 5:16
True, but for half century life still have no encounter a "righteous person"

Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Why was it O sea, that you fled,
O Jordan, that you turned back,
You mountains, that you skipped like rams,
You hills, like lambs?
Psalms 114:5

" Gracious words are a
honeycomb, sweet to the
soul and healing to the
bones"

- Proverbs 16:24

I have created this thread so that we all may share our ideas and feelings about the verses that may be posted in Bible Verse of the day.

Everyone, please keep the posts friendly and respectful.

Thanks, Cheshire Kat
I was going to ask why there were two active threads about bible verses. This is a good idea to keep one for the verses, the other for discussion.
But seeing both listed next to each other like I did had me confused for a bit.

This said, I didn't know Ash Wednesday had a Christian background. I learned it's the day the "carnival season" ends and that carnival had a more socio-political background.

Bible quotes in one thread, comments in the other.

This way someone can quote a verse in one and the discussion can continue in a separate thread with no one interfering with the flow of the discussion with new, unrelated quotes.

I have several times invited anyone with beliefs of a different nature to start a similar set of threads ( for Buddhism or Islam, etc), but no one has taken up the invitation. I fully support everyone's freedom of expression, but I'm not going to do the work so that they can express themselves.

Carnival was a way to party before the long 40 days of fasting that Lent requires. The two are inseparable 🩷

I like your idea for a separate thread to discuss bible verses, but I've gotten confused a couple times and thought this was the thread to post bible verses.

Do you think we could change the name of this one to something like "Discussion of bible verses" or something similar?

That could be a good idea. It can be confusing. I like the idea that two threads are separated. Let’s see.

It's been that way since November but nothing is written is stone. 👍
The Bible Quote thread was quite dead but I sort of revived it. It was revived as a place for those looking for encouragement, not a place to debate. That's why I started the accompanying discussion thread so everyone could debate as much as they want. If it goes away I'll be just fine.

If the Bible Quote thread becomes a debate thread I just won't bother posting there. There a whole big Bluelight to be involved in.

Ah there is CK, hey feel free to remove the word discussion. Just trying to keep you nimble on your duties. ;)

Kris is one of our best customers so figured would try.

You are most welcome my friend.

@JackARoe and I were talking way before all this happened about me stepping down as MOD in S & R and JackARoe taking the lead. He'll be in charge but I am still backing him up. I wanted to be transparent with everyone.

Ok, just don't want to step on toes. Not my style. So I will gladly head this forum up with more confidence.

Maybe I was the only one who got mixed up but for me this is clearer.

It doesn't take much to confuse me.

Thanks! And you are both doing a great job! 💖

your enemies will take advantage of you if you let them. so don't. love them fine. but don't let them !!!!
Exactly, don't let them. It is ok to bark at people. This little parable explains well.

The Holy Man and the Snake. A parable by Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

A holy man arrived in a village and found the people unhappy and scared. They said that a snake was terrorizing them. The snake appeared without warning, biting them in their fields and on the streets, and they were afraid to leave their houses.

The holy man wandered around the village and found the snake. He asked the snake with such love and compassion to stop frightening the villagers that the snake agreed to change his ways.

Soon the villagers discovered that the snake would no longer hurt them, so they beat and trampled him. The snake slunk away to his hole, venturing out only on rare nights for food.

When the holy man returned a year later, he found the snake was just skin and bones, his lustrous coat shabby. The holy man asked the snake what had happened. The snake replied that he had done as the holy man asked and the villagers attacked him now that they knew he would not fight back. The holy man stroked the snake tenderly and said, “I told you not to bite, but I never told you not to hiss.”

Luke 23:24 Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.

My cranky translation, forgive them as they are not really that bright and don't use their brains to like they should.

Even crankier translation, Forgive them God as some of them are just, shall we say.... dumb?

Just venting. But the way ignorance was excused here is truly a loving gesture. They are still people. Just in some darkness. We have to do the same with people we feel that way about. And not judge like I am doing right now lol (doing it to just try and make a point)

How Do You Feel, Honestly, About This Bible Verse: "Slaves, Obey Your Masters."

How Do You Feel, Honestly, About This Bible Verse: "Slaves, Obey Your Masters."
Ephesians 6:5-9. I have to think about it. Keep in mind these passages are written by humans. I will say there have been a few times I was stuck in a time and space (like some duty) that would not end I often thought of slaves in that they were stuck too. We all do our time here on Earth one way or another. And that would make us all slaves in a light way. But not like the horrifying notion of one human owning another. As much as we like to change situations sometimes we can't do anything but make it through a day. We can't wish ourselves into a different reality. So maybe it is on the line of if I can't change my situation do my best to make it through.

Hmmm, maybe respect your boss, manager and even the cop that pulled you over. Most of us know being respectful to LEO works better than fighting it. People like respect so maybe it is a way to make the day easier for certain situation. I got out of a lot of situations when I was younger and dealing with LE) by simply being respectful and kind.

I have to keep thinking. I am horrified by the idea of one human owning another. Even before Africa straight throughout history slaves were around. Ancient Egypt too if I remember correctly? The times in BC were just like that.

Saying all that I would never say that phrase to anyone in 2025. But in history it was a thing and I am not sure why people back then were not horrified by that notion. It seemed too common.
