Discussing Bible Verses (What you say?)

Basic pillar of Christianity....to love your enemy...the hardest one for me....impossible...''cause it's mean to overcome my survival instinct....guess i am a christian only on papper..and it makes me sad:(

Well, it's impossible to do without Jesus; I struggle with this one too. And I have to constantly ask God to help me. Because without his help, I'm a fish out of water drying up.

Much in the Bible can be used for common sense. Much in proverbs is wisdom for daily life and how to live with other people and live life to the fullest regardless of faith. Psalms has every kind of song in it, with all emotions expressed. Everyone can find inspiration in these two books alone. The scripture has examples of people who lived their lives foolishly and those who lived them wisely. There isn't anything new under the sun; there's nothing that's not common to humans.

For example: Don't think it strange when they persecute you, speak ill of you and mock you. For they did the same to their elders. This also speaks of those who shine light in dark places. Voice the unpopular views and go against the grain, and don't allow society around them to dictate what is truth.

God's Kingdom over culture has always been something I've tried to live by. 💙

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (1 corinthians 13:4-7 niv)

I love this verse 💙

You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies. -John 8:44

What does John 8:44 mean?

Jesus' critics have adamantly resisted His teachings. In part, this has hinged on their claims to be the children of Abraham (John 8:33). Jesus responded by pointing out that "true sons" behave as their father did. Since Abraham believed God, and these men do not, they are not part of Abraham's spiritual family. Instead, they are the children of some other father. So far, their conduct has been marked by violence (John 5:18), deception (John 8:45), and hypocrisy (John 7:50–52). They reject the message of Christ because they do not want to hear it (John 8:43). They've even insulted Jesus' family by insinuating that He is an illegitimate child—"born of fornication" (John 8:41, NKJV). Here, Jesus completes His statement about the true spiritual father of these critics in spectacular fashion.
In no uncertain terms, Jesus states that these hateful enemies are, in fact, the spiritual children of the Devil. He refers to murder, resistance to the truth, and lies—all of which were part of his earlier criticism of these men. This is not a soft, timid response on the part of Jesus. This is an open, overt rebuke delivered against religious leaders who are leading others to hell (Matthew 23:15). Contrary to the caricature of Jesus as a fragile mystic, passages such as these prove His ability to present righteous strength.

I love Proverbs 18:1, proof everything is covered in the Bible.
Whoever isolates himself pursues selfish ends; he resists all sound advice. Proverbs 18:1
Sounds like mental health to me. This verse has read my mail for the last five years, when I think I know it all, don't need people, and can do things myself. Well, that's been my downfall. 🤦🏻‍♀️

And I've learned the lesson of Proverbs 19:19 the hard way.
The person who has great anger must pay the consequences, because if you rescue him, you will have to do it again. Proverbs 19:19
Ouch. 😖

( O, Father, help me love Your children as You love them and as Jesus demonstrated Your love for them. I confess that I sometimes have difficulty letting go of
wounds caused by my brothers and sisters in Christ. )

Psalms 15: 1-5

O Lord, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may abide on your holy mountain?

The one who leads a blameless life
and does what is right, who speaks the truth from the heart

and does not slander anyone, who does not harm a friend
and does not scorn a neighbor,

Who looks with disdain on the wicked but honors those who fear the Lord,
who abides by his oath, no matter what the cost,

Who does not charge interest on a loan and refuses to accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things will never fall.
Wow does this hit close when we look out into the world. I never understood how higher up execs liked tricking people with small print. Like banks and overdraft fees. Although that is stated clearly. But if a family goes into overdraft they probably needed the money, did not know the bank took out another fee and accidentally costs another $30. Oh wait, you can pay for overdraft protection. Business is business but I do not get some of these CEO's thinking they are clever and a good business man by tricking people.

I can say I am trying to do all those things in the Psalm. At the current moment I am however getting totally sh*t on from all directions. It is not easy having virtue. Fight for what is right, but let go when needed. "who abides by his oath, no matter what the cost". I like how in the old western movies they put a lot of weight on a man's word. It has been said all a man has got is his word. Nice a lot of people saw that amongst the wild west where shooting solved issues. A man's word was more powerful than a gun.

Thank you for doing your part. If more people would simply try just a bit of this the world would be a much better place to live.

They don't even have to say that they are Jewish or Christian or Muslim; although all three belief systems share this passage as part of their "Holy Books". It's just a good way to conduct ones behavior.

I see why you struggle. It is a lie.

The Bible has God not willing that any of his perfectly created souls be lost, and unless you are fully faithless, you should be believing that.

How many levels of perfectly created souls do you think God creates?

All souls are perfect, as befits being created by a God. Right?
