Luke 5:1-11
Now it happened that He was standing one day by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the crowd pressing round Him listening to the word of God,
when He caught sight of two boats at the water's edge. The fishermen had got out of them and were washing their nets.
He got into Simon Peter's boat , and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Then He sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.
When He had finished speaking He said to Simon, 'Put out into deep water and pay out your nets for a catch.'
Simon replied, 'Master, we worked hard all night long and caught nothing, but if you say so, I will pay out the nets.'
And when they had done this they netted such a huge number of fish that their nets began to tear,
so they signaled to their companions in the other boat to come and help them; when these came, they filled both boats to sinking point.
When Simon Peter saw this he fell at the knees of Jesus saying, 'Leave me, Lord; I am a sinful man.'
For he and all his companions were completely awestruck at the catch they had made;
so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. But Jesus said to Simon, 'Do not be afraid; from now on it is people you will be catching.'
Then, bringing their boats back to land they left everything and followed him.

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort.
Woe to you who are well fed, for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

Treat others as you would like people to treat you.
If you love those who love you, what credit can you expect? Even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit can you expect? For even sinners do that much.
And if you lend to those from whom you hope to get money back, what credit can you expect? Even sinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount.
Instead, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without any hope of return. You will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

I love God's law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind, this power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. O what a miserable person that I am. Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death. Thank God, the answer is in Jesus Christ our lord. So you see how it is, in my mind I really want to obey God's law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.

So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. But there is an order to this resurrection, Christ was raised as the first of the harvest, then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. After that the end will come, when he will turn the kingdom over to God the father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death, for the scriptures say, God has put all things under his authority. Of course when it says all things are under his authority, that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority. Then when all things are under his authority, the son will put himself under God's authority, so that God who gave his son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.
