^ love that photo of guinevere. the clothes, colors, kitchen setting, gives off that mid century vibe to me. also like the pics from that spread with pics of the desert, something about high fashion in desert landscapes just really works for me.
i want to know more about the bracelet/rings/nail accessory she is wearing...
that look with the sunglasses sasha is in for nina ricci... can't get any cooler than that. i dig those lookbook pics, minimal setting, model rockin the au natural look, no distracting make up, just beauty.
haven't heard of tadashi shoji before but im a sucker for capes ever since gwenyth paltrow wore the tom ford one on the red carpet =) pretty solid collection, romantic with a lil gothy-ness. all those dresses look endlessly wearable and ready for the red carpet.
looking at the rest of the schedule for f/w ny, got Thom Browne @ 5.00pm today tomorrow (the 10th) looking can't wait to see what he shows, not just fav american designer but fav designer of all atm =) might of mentinoned that already hehe.
You guys. I miss you, this thread, so much. I could make excuses all day as to why I am not in here but they all sound so lame. work, art, coding classes, not wanting to make a short stupid post...
I don't really have anything coherent, so I'll just ejaculate.
Scarlett Johansson at the 1996 premiere of Manny and Lo. She and Angelina Jolie must have the same nose job guy.
obsessed with this shoot of Jena Malone by Magdalena Wosinska.
NSFW:
reminds me of Petra Collins "Female Gaze" series. I like these different views of women. Its very reflective of how I see myself as a 24 year old woman. It's exciting to me. I like seeing her bruised legs, the parking lots, these...street scenes. They aren't romantic. They aren't for men, they are for me. I like it.
I'm super over the moon about Maleficent. Angelina Jolie, Lana Del Rey, Elle Fanning...it's stupid how thrilled i am about this. Maleficent hands down is my favorite disney villain - bitch destroyed a whole kingdom because she didn't get invited to a party. SHADE OR SHADE??
There is a new photo shoot of Kristen Stewart for...Marie Claire? I don't know. I think so. She's wearing this jewelry thing on her hand??? Any info??
I don't know. I miss you guys like the moon misses the flower.
i didn't realize Maleficent has lana del rey. they filmed that so long ago. i don't wanna see it in theater. gonna be forever. i hope post-production took them so long because they we're expanding elle's role in the editing room.
scarlett is adorable in that pic. it looks warm wherever kristen is. i'm sick of it being cold.
tadashi shoji has never been my absolute favorite of the season, but it's a consistent performer at nyfw. knows pretty and delivers. haven't seen this season's yet. just a few on tumblr. nastya's particularly impressed me. has a simple valentino feel.
mercedes-benz has berlin's fashion week up. miranda konstantinidou is out there as always. did not impress me nearly as much as last year. doing so would be difficult.
i imagine that bracelet/rings/nail accessory serves a common purpose. like making you think, "whatthefuck?"

umm, i'm yet to see rodarte this season. tie-dye was bad enough...
NSFW:
no fucking way the whole show is like that. no way. please.
i've been obsessed with tiaras lately. and other things that go in girls' hair. i guess i always have been. i have to pick a photo that i actually like for this post. oh, a long time ago i posted this in the wrong thread...
found it in the hong kong airport. cheap and i had the perfect amount of money to not get back a significant amount of un-spendable change. actually the few coins i did get are pretty cool too.
this is by far the strangest fashion magazine or even magazine i've ever come across. it came in a plastic sleeve, so i couldn't tell much about it before purchasing. it has a few strange but pretty fashion shoots. the usually girly things i like in indie fashion mags like ornately decorated letters and bedrooms. and then all this other all this weird, weird stuff like entomological collections; rooms full of mounted animal heads; paintings of flowers and other pleasant ideas like the words "love you" made of bones, muscle, dead wildlife, pastel gore. of course i can't read it because even though it has an english title and even some of the shoots and articles are titled in english, 99% of the text is chinese. the spine is on the right-hand side and all that. it's out there. definitely worth the $5.
the first page...
picture does not properly capture the intricacy of the pop-up, but it is crazy and very detailed. behind all of it, even the parts that are difficult to see when pulling the top up, is text that is neither english nor chinese and pictures sketches of who knows what.
thought that'd be the only issue i ever saw of that magazine. but i found it online yesterday. a store for americans obsessed with asian pop culture imports it now. including back issues. for like 3x the price i got it (at an airport) plus shipping. kinda ruins the mystique. so i'm gonna avoid. and treasure the one issue i found. there has been a small insurgence of scans. a few are reasonable image quality. a few are even digital photos. i hope i'm not shorting myself too much by staying true to my one found issue...
sophie (i assume) by jing hu for an older issue
gouda (?.) by vivienne mok for a more recent issue. cool dress.
NSFW:
mok reminds me of david hamilton
would be my favorite if she wasn't pulling at her skirt. the issue i own is not at all lusty like this shoot. this photographer happened to post solid copies to her online portfolio. it is a cool editorial. some of these racier photos might be outtakes. i think i got the best issue.
oh, one more. not sure if this is from Little Thing. by same photographer...
like these two and sophie more than the gouda shoot.
apparently Angelina Jolie specifically requested her to sing the song.
you aren't going to see it in the theatre?!
yeah coding class. i don't know, i like computers, i like coding. its therapeutic. like folding laundry. look at my sexy terminal:
all the rodarte looks like that. they've jumped the shark. i'll never love them again. their heart logo was the background of my phone. no more.
american horror story is over. the clothes were so fucking good.
i like the lusty. i like lusty. most of the time. i also am making a lot of perlers. because i'm stupid. here's a major lazer i made.
NSFW:
i also have a drawer full of knitting supplies and shit that i've never even attempted because i'm left handed and stupid. but maybe that's how i quit smoking. for the millionth time. but damn i love smoking. such a classy way to die. and at least it isn't heroin. i already had to do that. i made python tell you i'm drunk, can you tell? Atlanta is like yelling at me for the end of days i.e. ice storm. I DON'T CARE STOP.
i miss old tumblr. like, transparent for your blog? soft grunge? menophilia with her scary pictures of little girls with spinal malformations. i miss it when women on the internet were scary.
i'm reading a lot of joan didion and drinking a lot of earl grey and listening to charlotte gainsbourg. she was pretty fashionable. joan. now she's old and wrinkly and all the people she's ever loved are dead. husband, daughter, everyone. the white album is good. she and roman polanski have the same godchild. who goes unnamed. weird.
what are you guys eating, drinking, reading? learning to knit? to write computer code? i know this is a fashion thread, but life our lives are pretty fashionable. also, i hear you can get any book you want on tuebl. in epub. for your iPads. so you can read your anais nin pornography in bed like a real modern woman.
i didn't realize Maleficent has lana del rey. they filmed that so long ago. i don't wanna see it in theater. gonna be forever. i hope post-production took them so long because they we're expanding elle's role in the editing room.
hehe, dro, surprising with elle in it and not wanting to see it on the big screen. saw some gifs from it, looks like an awesome role for jolie. looking forward to it, drawn to the darkness.
browne showed an opulent (gold), darkly religious inspired collection. exquisite craftsmanship. i just love what he is doing, especially showing his RTW in NY, while most of NY can almost always be summed up as... oh "nice, sell-able, clean, safe" he always puts on a show that isn't forgettable. reading about the fellini soundtrack, burning incense, church pews, etc... takes me away so some imagined land... the way he is playing with shapes and volume makes me think of commes des garcon, he is what we (american fashion) needs atm imo. good op ed about religion/fashion @ http://www.dazeddigital.com/fashion/article/18803/1/opinion-why-is-fashion-afraid-to-be-blasphemous
nastya's particularly impressed me. has a simple valentino feel.
GAH AMERICAN GODS REALLY?? That's one of my favorite books of all time. Did you know they are making it into a show? I think American Gods & Donnie Darko are the two pieces of media that really showed post 9/11 America what it was in for, both were published in early 2001. Talk about harbingers.
photos from the MIU MIU "Womens Tales" - hot. WTF is this pattern behind everyone? I want it as my phone background.
Sarah Paulson
Solange
speaking of Solange - her collab with puma looks fresh.
man that is the exact opposite of what is happening outside right now. & wixson for Sebastian Feana in Prada:
those trainers are dope. one thing i like about athletic companies cross trainers is they often look "futuristic" with the color designs and cushioning "technology" like air bubbles or whatever. good campaign shots.

yup, i had just finished "the ocean at the end of the lane" fun, quick read, lil' like coraline but some grown up content, and whilst searching for something new had come across American gods being made into a show, so that got me excited to read it. real page-turner from the get-go.
WTF is this pattern behind everyone? I want it as my phone background.
that pattern was used in the ss2014 prints. found this gif. im sure with some image editing wizardy you could make it suitable to your liking for a background.
always hard/damn near impossible to find info about set design. shame =/ i love looking at pictures of empty venues.
well, have another dose of some prada, courtesy of lea seydoux and italian vogue. pics are all super high res, so i'll just link to the blog post.
that gif would make an awesome iphone background. if i wasn't already horribly happy with mine, i'd use as well. sorry to hear rodarte has lost your love. and screen. they try. they still haven't posted the show, but even if it does suck they'll always get another chance in my book. use ella fanning as your muse for some overthetop, freak couture collection, you're good in my book.
oh, and i saw Star Wars made its way into another collected. maybe preen.
awesome photos from puma. and in that lindsey editorial, her pigtails are so cute. lindsey's hair is always so cute.
yahoo bought tumblr. it's all downhill from here.
spent a good part of yesterday watching a/w shows. though thom browne never popped up. will have to manually add it to the list. don't wanna miss anything opulent. my favorite so far is marc cain. or now looking for one outfit that epitomizes why it was so great, i don't know. i think it's just too early (in the morning) to find good shots. maybe it was the s/s 14 outfits that i liked so much. maybe. i don't remember yesterday so well. a/w styling is top notch. one heroin chic waif after another. with hair combed ragged. lovely. oh, a/w reminded me of a safe version of what i'd expect to see from rodarte. i'll find some shots after work.
haven't seen any shows outside of berlin and new york. i think london just started. sasha luss just about skips down the runway. she's my favorite walk so far this season. karlie's initial march at donna karan is impressive.
fuck, i am not accomplishing anything i intended upon starting this post. i don't wanna see Maleficent in theater because i avoid dark rooms with loud, drunk middle school girls. plus i like to rewind. especially if elle isn't getting enough screen time. i've seen a few gifs; she's pretty. and breaks for a quick hit.
i wanna see this show...
marchesa a/w
this girl -- anna pavaga -- and her little coat are adorable...
no time to figure out who the coat is or the photographer. probably dani.
cigarettes are all that's cool when it comes to teenagers on film...
by carin backoff. if this was the 90s we could have the smoke trail.
yea man, was just peepin that preen collection with the darth vader print, now that is friggin awesome! done much better than rodarte imo. that entire collection is stellar.
yea haven't saw vids of any 2014 thom browne, hopefully they pop up in the near future. hope to see that church setting from his rtw.
love this pic from the show.
lil anna so reminds me of the iconic chloe gif.
90s... what a magical time. supermodels on a cigarette diet, not getting out of bed for less than $10,000 a day =)
if i can get a sample of this 1996 inez & vinoodh photo, "kirsten — 1996" inspired fragrance soon, ima pull the trigger on a bottle. got a thing for iris scents atm.
i made some effort and couldn't find the thom browne show either. a few couple minute highlight/backstage vids. opulent indeed. i really hate hearing fashion figures interviewed. man, can they be talented and sound stupid.
holy rose walked some preen...
posting before work is rushed. anyway, yea, some of the shots i've seen of preen have been pretty cool. do not like the boots. and i hope we see a lot of holy rose on the runway this season.
i'm going to get a editor/director job working publishing in the fashion industry. not stopping at contributing editor; i want creative control. i'm going to make it happen. i'm going to start by writing letters to the head editors, directors, whatever of all my favorite fashion publications. "i love what you create. how is it done?" because most of those publications are not based in the states, i'm then going to start using my fashion spot account to start fishing for similar publications that might be out of somewhere like new york or chicago. i will consume and then contact. i'll start a blog like every other fuck to maintain a regular amount of related writing. working marketing and with a degree in creative writing, hopefully i'll have some edge. above the blog, i will be submitting anything and everything like crazy. not because i want to be a writer -- that dream is old -- but because i think it can create a door. i will latch onto any connection i develop through letters to editors or editors who accept my submissions. i do not want to end up in marketing because that's where i landed my first real job. i'm gonna be proactive for once and get this. starting tonight.
if anyone has any experience or advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
perhaps set up an appointment with an admissions/academic adviser at a fashion/design institute to discuss your career goals ? i know design isn't the path you wanna go down, but just to talk face to face with someone who has industry knowledge.
before i read the part you mentioned "not because i want to be a writer -- that dream is old" i was going to say, can look into fashion journalism MA, think that would lead you into an internship and get your foot in the door followed by hard work and perseverance.
also, hydro, ask forcefully and aggressively. i mean don't let anyone even be mildly dismissive. meryl streep ain't lying when she says it's amazing what you can get if you confidently ask. i've gotten to the point in my fake job that i don't even ask anymore??? i just say this is what i need and please have it for me by the end of the week. #witchbitch
psh, i thought that link was gonna go to the show. how is it? don't know who ghesquiere is, but good riddance marc. looking forward to seeing this something new.
i've read the collection described as, nice, safe, and wearable. i remember his past collections for balenciaga still fresh in my mind, so i was sorta setting myself up to be let down. its interesting because with the departure of marc and where the head of lvmh wants to take the brand, i'm hoping that won't stifle the designs of ghesquiere. but it's also understandable when coming to a new house marc built up, he's respectful of what marc has done and isn't going to turn the house upside down. so he just sent out a solid, nice collection. i hope, given the time, and the freedom we see new and exciting things from him in the future. the guy is an amazing designer.
gotta show my appreciation for iris van herpen. this sorta stuff gives me chills. use of 3d printing, fabrics, designs, all so forward thinking.
