my eyes are starving for fucking beauty. I haven't bought a fashion magazine in way too long. I'm going to fix that tomorrow.

oh fuck. Tinypic shut down. No wonder everything in this thread is broken. I did order the new 032c because, finally, some fucking glamour.

I have a little present for you, he said.

He smiled a little. Then he pulled open the top drawer of his desk and took something out. He held it a moment, casually enough, between thumb and finger, as if deciding whether or not to give it to me. Although it was upside-down from where I was sitting, I recognized it. They were once common enough. It was a magazine, a women’s magazine it looked like from the picture, a model on glossy paper, hair blown, neck scarfed, mouth lipsticked; the fall fashions. I thought such magazines had all been destroyed, but here was one, left over, in a Commander’s private study, where you’d least expect to find such a thing. He looked down at the model, who was right-side-up to him; he was still smiling, that wistful smile of his. It was a look you’d give to an almost extinct animal, at the zoo.

Staring at the magazine, as he dangled it before me like fish bait, I wanted it. I wanted it with a force that made the ends of my fingers ache. At the same time I saw this longing of mine as trivial and absurd, because I’d taken such magazines lightly enough once. I’d read them in dentists’ offices, and sometimes on planes; I’d bought them to take to hotel rooms, a device to fill in empty time while I was waiting for Luke. After I’d leafed through them I would throw them away, for they were infinitely discardable, and a day or two later I wouldn’t be able to remember what had been in them.

Though I remembered now. What was in them was promise. They dealt in transformations; they suggested an endless series of possibilities, extending like the reflections in two mirrors set facing one another, stretching on, replica after replica, to the vanishing point. They suggested one adventure after another, one wardrobe after another, one improvement after another, one man after another. They suggested rejuvenation, pain overcome and transcended, endless love. The real promise in them was immortality.

This was what he was holding, without knowing it. He riffled the pages. I felt myself leaning forward.

It’s an old one, he said, a curio of sorts. From the seventies, I think. A Vogue. This like a wine connoisseur dropping a name. I thought you might like to look at it.

rachel lang by michael donovan. harness is possibly creepyyeha. it's not as ornate as their usual stuff, so maybe it's a well chosen piece from a highway bookstore (i.e. amazon.com). correction: wearing h.o.s. leather.

his video of avery tharp is password protected on vimeo and only available to the public as copies posted on porn sites. the latter probably led to the former. is a shame. a small example of how tumblr was ruined (though i know yahoo played a significant and separate role in that demise). boy do i hate pornography. on top of the direct harm it causes its creators and consumers, it's a worthless excuse for censorship.

thanks, Shady. i'm a photographer and like to think of myself as an artist. but no, i do not work in the fashion industry. one day i hope to answer your question yes. only part-time. i got too many things i wanna do to restrict myself to one industry. i have a vision. i'm yet to realize it. when i do, i'll be chastised for it. all good photographers and creatives are. if my name isn't said in hushed tones, i'll know i failed.

some bluelighters do work in the fashion industry. she doesn't post anymore, but @modelskinny was a runway model. she used to post in this thread. unfortunately most of her images are red Xs these days. Kenickie also has a role in the fashion industry. i'll leave it up to her whether or not she wants to divulge.

Yeah privacy's everything but up to a point, I don't think is something to hide. I don't think someone will harm her but okay. Anyway yes, passions leads us in life. I love to drive, racing. It became my passion since I was little, I grew up playing Need For Speed and thought to myself one day when I have enough money to own a racing car, will I do the right thing? And yes I did. Luckily, I managed to be good in life, I am not rich, isn't like money kicks me outside but I have enough money to live properly. They come and go, anyway. So here we are, year 2011 my first time owning an R8, 4 years later it's customized. 230mph. I cannot be more happy than this. Though I don't race anymore, since I have a family/kids/life, things to deal with but occasionally when opportunities arise I am there.
 
you've made wise prioritization with kids, family, and life.

i don't think anyone will hurt her. more it's her story to tell, should she chose to do so.

i promise my next post in this thread will not be photoless. got some cindy sherman shots in mind that scream fashion. at taste, though it's more cinematic than fashion ...

this is the poster the security guard at the art institute told me i wasn't allow to stand so close to. after stepping back and asking if i had established appropriate distance, i informed her it was not a poster. she did not appreciate the information.

No way someone mentioned this in these 70 pages I simply cannot pour over.

I said enough in this. Maybe I will see you in a thrift store near you I find some useful artifacts in them now but it might just be a phase in the depths of addiction for all I know. I can't afford to make sure people making clothes don't have it bad in overseas warehouses or even factories here but how many USA clothing factories do you know about?!

I also feel guilty for scheduling an interview at Nordstrom last week a fast fashion tycoon exploitation chain I gather thankfully didn't show

i stopped following fashion religiously sometime ago, before i heard of "off white" since then virgil as ye would say "added sometime to the algorithm" what an amazing individual . RIP . fuck cancer.

Hes dialed in big time and idk i sorta feel like he wants to drop something insane really soon after donda just to show kim, and the world, that hes better then ever and counting him out is a mistake. The best revenge agains kim rn is to be the biggest thing on the planet, something she cant compete with. Not even fucking pete Davidson will outshine a second masterpiece within a year. Just my 2 cents.
