The most depressing film of all time, is a french film called IRREVERSIBLE. I high recomend it for slightly twisted.

I would classify this more as disturbing than depressing. With a couple of the most brutal scenes on film and the message being "time destroys everything", it forces you to accept obliteration. Good movie, but the dialogue was annoying since most was made up on the spot.

you know whats depressing : The anime version of Little Mermaid, a TOEI japanese cartoon. I mean.....the mermaid really DIES IN THE END! its a beautiful cartoon.

I always get really depressed after Donnie Darko...I feel really bad saying this for some reason...probably because its an insanly over-rated movie...but everything just seems so grey afterwards.

One Hour Photo. Its creepy and depressing. Serpico---i dunnno maybe its the drab 70s ambience that gets me down, even if like the movie.

House of Sand and Fog -- I watched it cuz I love Jennifer Connelly but damn if it wasn't a HUGE downer.

Rabbit Proof Fence (film from Australia) is really sad, but definitely worth watching. One of my favorite movies of all time definitely

Mary Shelley's Frankestein

I watched it with a friend about 2 months back. After the movie finished we just felt so depressed and lifeless. We didn't even wanna talk to each other after it. The movie is just one sorrow moment after another.

Great choices all round. Let me add Blow. I can't watch that movie without shouting "aaaaagh, you fucking moron" at the end. What a downer ending.

City of God was absolutely amazing and unbelievably depressing all at the same time.
