Confederate flag on state property/on state flags?

Pulling a classic 80's tv show off the air will stop psychopathic killers. Lib logic...

^ you're adding two and two to get five, again.

who says the move is to "stop psychopathic killers"? nobody, as far as i can tell.

from the article: "A spokesperson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly Wednesday the network has pulled all reruns of the series from its schedule, but gave no explanation as to why." (my emphasis)

fabricating motivation and criticising people for things they may not have even done doesn't really help...

What i don't get is how some Americans see the Confederate flag as being some symbol of freedom when it was actually a symbol of the exact opposite. It was if anything a counter revolutionary movement made up by rich white landowners, fought by poor white southern people for the most part, funded in part by the British and meant to keep black people in slavery. Now if those things don't spell freedom i don't know what does 8) . Also how the fuck can these people say they love America when they fly a goddamn flag that fought against the Republic? There is more then abit of cognitive dissonance going on there i think.

As for the Dukes of Hazard who gives a fuck about TV anymore anyway. If you want to watch it you can watch it online for free with no stupid advertisements.

I watched the Beverly hillbillies episode where granny thinks the yanks are showing aggression again and fights for the confederates the other day. I'm surprised they aired it tbh. While I was in TN I had a flag in the back window only bc my buddy practically made me. I'm not sure about the fervor for this topic but you can make other cool looking flags look at Tennessee they have the coolest state flag outside of like ga and ms

Kid Rock Responds to Confederate Flag Protestors: ‘Kiss My A–’
By Graham 'Gruhamed' Hartmann July 10, 2015 4:18 PM

There’s been much nationwide discussion lately about the merits of the Confederate flag and whether or not it should be denounced as a symbol of slavery and oppression. Kid Rock recently voiced his opinion on the subject after fans asked him to disassociate himself with the flag, responding, “Kiss my a–.”

The National Action Network, led by Reverend Al Sharpton, has been protesting the flag’s somewhat common usage. Activists in Detroit called for Kid Rock to stop using the flag as a piece of concert imagery, with one protester telling news sources, “How the hell can Kid Rock represent Detroit and wave that flag? A flag that represents genocide to most of Detroit. It’s simply wrong, it’s inhumane and no profit motive can justify the waving of that flag of genocide. Kid Rock, take it down, now!” [via Detroit Free Press]

In response, Kid Rock sent a message to Fox News host Megyn Kelly, which reads, “Please tell the people who are protesting to kiss my a–.” Kelly edited the quote comedically to end, “kiss my … ask me some questions.” See that footage above.

Protestors have asked the Detroit Historical Museum to take down a Kid Rock exhibit featured at the establishment if the musician does not comply with their request to abandon the Confederate flag. The museum is refusing to remove the Kid Rock exhibit, adding that there is no Confederate flag displayed within.

Not a Kid Rock fan but this earned him some points in my book. He didn't back down like Lynrd Skynrd sadly did.

Jesus christ it get's worse and worse. Who the fuck has even listened to that fucking hick since like 2001 anyway? I seriously doubt that fucking useless drunk has the slightest clue as to what the Confederate flag stands for anyway. Also with such great musicians as the MC5 and Iggy Pop ffs coming out of Detroit why would Detroit even admit to Kid Rock coming from there?

Kid Rock is a commercially successful musician. So sure, Detroit can claim him.

If you're trying to find what's pathetic about this whole story, just think we find the ideas of a musician about the historical and social implications of a flag newsworthy. What's next? Should we ask Lady Gaga about the Trans Pacific Partnership? Maybe let's have Taylor Swift tell us all about the Grexit?

Don't worry, while these musicians are busy explaining all of this to us, we'll get a historian and a sociologist to make a few top 100 billboard hits.

the confederate flag isnt about slavery or racism, and people who think it is are ignorant fucks. Its not like were hanging a fucking swastika flag, people just want to get offended for whatever reason. Its honestly retarded.

It was the flag of the fucking Confederacy which not only makes it a symbol of old white slave owning landholders but also a symbol of treason to the republic itself. Flying that rag next to the American flag makes as much fucking sense as flying the Union jack next to the American flag. The Confederate flag symbolizes nothing good that much is for certain.

Considering it's first use was by a country which was created to preserve slavery, and then it's later use was by segregationalists, what makes it not about slavery or racism?

your lovely attitude aside, you could not be more ignorant yourself.

the confederacy itself was all about the preservation of slavery and white supremacy. the states were seeking to secede after the election of an abolitionist president. from the mississippi declaration of secession:
In the momentous step which our State has taken of dissolving its connection with the government of which we so long formed a part, it is but just that we should declare the prominent reasons which have induced our course.

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth.
(my emphasis)

the secession ordinances of alabama, texas and virgina all make explicit reference to (preservation of) slavery as a factor.

attempts to rewrite, reinterpret or reclaim the history don't change the foundation of this hateful symbol.

OH NO! The evil piece of cloth is gonna get us! LOL=D

If a piece of cloth upsets you, then I recommend you go see psychiatrist. Perhaps they can give you some medication to help ease your persecutory delusions. This is why, we as a society really need to come together and acknowledge that our country has a mental illness problem. People in this country are suffering tremendously inside. They believe inanimate objects are out to get them. This is very troubling and as an American I feel ashamed, ashamed that not more is being done, ashamed that these people still aren't getting proper medical treatment.

I'm really impressed with the American peoples ability to compartmentalize. So much more depravity has been done in the name of the "50 star" American flag in the last decade alone than what was done the entire lifespan of the confederacy.
Iraq much?

What about Iraq lives? Collateral murder much? Where are the protests for executive ordered drone strikes killing innocent children?

You people are NUTS!

when a patriotic american burns the stars and stripes in protest, some people say "you can't do that. it's disgraceful to deface this powerful symbol". criticise the confederate flag and the same people will tell you "chill out. it's just a flag."
Where are the protests for executive ordered drone strikes killing innocent children?
two wrongs don't make a right. plenty of people protest those strikes.
You people
lol. fail.

So if we start flying an ISIS flag on your statehouse grounds, you wouldn't object?
