Mental Health Coming Off Invega Sustenna (Paliperidone) v.2

Hi guys, so I was miss diagnosed with psychosis, and it is confirmed now by my private psychiatrist. They gave me 100 mg of Invega Sustenna for 4 months and now I'm coming off. My psychiatrist prescribed me the next shot of 75 mg. Then I planned to reduce it month by month, next month to take 50 mg, and then to go on invega oral pills. What do you think about it? Is the coming off " too rough", or is it good?

Is there any difference between Invega injections and Invega oral pills?

Only the experienced ones, please.

Peace, peace

So if u take this poison your doomed for life to not be able to burn the fat you gained?? Im doing sprints on an empty stomach everyday, for fucks sake not only am i not losing fat im actually GAINING fat even with minimal caloric intake throughout the day. And that psychitrist has the nerve to lie and say that the weight gain is caused by "increased appetite" life sucks, all im doing nowadays is praying for 2 hours a day, if i cant have a happy life anymore, i might as well spend the afterlife in heaven.

No, you're not doomed for life to keep all the fat you gained while on/coming off Invega. By my 8th month off I had a pretty decent sized gut and probably had gained a total of about 15-20lbs of fat. I'm now 11 months off and almost have a six pack. I have a visible "4-pack" for whatever that's worth. Still have a "protective layer" of fat over the bottom two abs :/

The point is I lost a significant amount of belly fat.

I exercise 2-3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Usually my workouts consist of about 90mins of powerlifting, 30mins of heavy bag work and 30mins of shadow boxing. My diet isn't super great, but I eat healthy most of the time. It takes a lot of work but you can lose the fat.

Not sure if you'll have as much success losing belly fat while still ON the Invega, but just know that once you come off you will be able to lose the fat if you work at it. I'm sure there are ways to lose fat while on Invega as well....it'll probably just be more difficult.

A nurse practitioner told me that the Invega shot, since it has such a long half life, should just slowly taper itself off. It sounds like you and your pdoc have a pretty good plan in place for getting you off the shot. I know we can't offer medical advice on here so just take that as my opinion. I came off the 156mg shot with a pill taper for a few weeks.

Lazar, what do you mean your psychiatrist has more power? If you weren't forced to take the shot by the judge in the hospital, then you don't have to go back just because he/she wants you to.

Tim32 found someone that successfully came off Invega. It took that guy 7 or 8 months to fully recover. How long have you been off the shot?

Thanks Joey.
Once just guy ( looks like few few). I am completely scared!. Just one month since the last shot. I took 3 shots overall. No way to obtain a solution from the Jansenn company ? They should give us a serious response, too many people here that didn't come off yet!
I have no words to express my feeling.

Notapsycho, yes i was forced in the hospital, if it were up to me i would have stood the hell away from all psychitric drugs from the start.

Hey guys, yesterday I smoked a blunt with a friend. I probably had like 7 hits or less. Even though I smoked yesterday, I still feel high even as I write this. How long will it take for my mind to go back to normal.... I also can't feel anger or happiness. When I thought of Janssens I couldn't get angry.... I didn't think I could get high since there's Invega in my system.... How long will it take for my highness to go away. I didn't know smoking a lot of weed can feel this weird. Has anyone smoked a blunt and felt high for 2 or 3 days where they couldn't feel anger? I also feel like I can't make sense of my words.

Its probably just cause you haven't smoked in a long time. I rarely ever smoked weed, and when I did, I usually still felt high the morning/day after. Not a super intense high, just kinda lightheaded and loopy. I'm sure it'll wear off soon. I smoked one time while still on Invega and the high was horrible...it felt like I could only feel the negative emotions associated with smoking weed (paranoia, anxiety, etc..) and none of the positive feelings. It sounds like it might be a good thing if it's helping you cope with your anger.

@Koz26

Hey man you doing 90mins of powerlifting? what is your program like? isn't 90mins of heavy lifting too much?

I currently try lifting weights within the week, I think compound moves are great such as squat and deadlifts.

Shadow boxing is great for focus and muscle memory for your movement, I think you are close to recovery bro, I really think its all in your head at some point. you just have to re-adjust your selves guys, make a new pattern and your trend will follow you will feel recovered, I mean ask yourself what was the difference before and now> ? don't you feel like you appreciate things in life more and more> ? think of the Normal which everyone lives in as your new constant state of euphoria,. what do you guys think?

Yes, my powerlifting workouts are usually at least 90mins, but it's because I take 3-5 min rests between sets. I do 5x5 or 3x5 workouts and do multiple body parts each workout. For example, on Mondays I'll do a "Push Day" where I focus on chest, shoulders and triceps. So, my workout will be roughly 15 sets. I'll usually do 3 sets of 5 reps on flat bench, 3x5 on incline bench, 5x5 on overhead press and 3-4 sets of 5 on close-grip bench. When you are doing 15 sets with 3-5 min rests between sets, the time of your workout racks up pretty quickly. But, when focusing on strength for mma and not trying to build a lot of mass, I find taking longer breaks allows me to lift heavier on each set and gain more overall strength.

Had a visit with my psych provider today. In seven days I'll be completely off Invega tablets, meaning a possibly speedier recovery for me. BTW it's 17 months off the Invega Sustenna as of two days ago. I feel good. Low anxiety, getting stronger. Every once in a while my energy comes back and I have enough stamina and focus to do the kind of cardio I like doing (mostly dancing and martial arts).

Do u have any muscle weakness like u were on invega when u powerlift? And are u getting a feeling of eupheria after a workout?

I don't get a feeling of euphoria after I workout...but then again, I never really got a feeling of euphoria post-workout even pre-Invega. As far as muscle weakness, this isn't an issue for me.. my muscles have gotten bigger and my strength has gone way up since I started lifting again 3 months ago. My cardio has also improved. Few months and I should be back to fighting competitively again.

@lazar, are you bound to one psychiatrist? Or are you able to look for another one? You should definitely find one that listens to you and isn't on that bullshit.

Notapsycho
Im bound to the mental health act, which forced me to take the medication or else ill be in the hospital again, im not sure the government would permit me to change psychitrist when on forced treatment, besides if i changed psychitrist he would still prescribe inevaga sustenna for the remianing 2 months. I just have to be patient.

If you change psychiatrist the other one won't force you. All psychiatrist are different. In honesty you should tell him your not going to take it. Fuck the man forcing you on this med. Tell him You'll take it if he takes it. In honesty tell your mom and dad that this med is hurting you.
Extortion and threats will not solve the problem.

Well, I read that another guy on this forum changed psychiatrists and he/she took him off the shot. I think he was forced too.
