You DO NOT want to dissolve the APAP/paracetamol AT ALL. The idea is to have enough to dissolve the codeine but not the APAP. Codeine is very soluble in cold water and APAP isn't, so you don't use much water.Does the amount of water used to perform an extraction REALLY matter, so long as it's enough to dissolve all the APAP (at room temperature, I mean, before cooling so the APAP precipitates out)? I didn't measure, but rather eyeballed, using probably about two cups (480 mL) for 5 30/300 codeine/APAP pills ...
Is the only reason not to overshoot, water-wise, that the filtration stage takes longer? Or am I missing something with the science, here?
I personally would not go over 100ml in total. The more water you have, the more APAP you will be drinking. Lucky for you that you only did 5 30/300s or you could have been in trouble. Please re-read the first post so you understand why you are doing this.
