Codeine Extraction

Yeah, I didn't have time to read all that but go ask the Dr for a liver function test, they're not uncommon. He'll refer you to pathology who take your blood and a week later you'll have your results.

Ah isn't it great that we are now civilized to such a degree,
that anyone can receive free healthcare?

It is so good to be able to receive help at any time,
for anything that may worry me.

How sad it must have been, to have lived in a time,
when one would forgo seeking professional advice on a problem,
due to cost,
and suffer or die,
because one could not afford to play safe with a suspicion.

Or to live in the USA right now. :\

.

Really??

Not a single Dr near me Bulk Bills. Means you got to come up with $45 to see a dr. Sure hospital outpatient and emergency section is free, but that's not everyday healthcare.

10 years ago most Dr's were bulk billers, now 99% aren't. These are not Civilised free healthcare times.

Bulk billing is, and should, be reserved for the sectors of our community who simple CANNOT, at all, afford it otherwise. $45 to see a person schooled for 20 years who can save your live or at least improve it seems pretty bloody good to me. It cost me $800 at the dentist last week for 35 minutes work!!!

I totally agree. I think that we are very fortunate to have such a good healthcare system in Australia. It is great that we get any government rebates at all (ie medicare). I think most Aussie's would be shocked to see how things work in other countries. I spent some time working in healthcare in Zimbabwe a few years back and that really, truly opened my eyes. We've got it so good here.

Of course, this is getting a little off topic though. Sorry....

It's not though. If you are poor working class, Poor and on social security benefit, Poor and on a Pension, then Dr's won't bulk bill, if they don't bull bill Anyway, and 99% don't.

I've seen signs in some Dr surgeries that say they bulk bill old aged pensioners, but that's a minority of the 'have nots'. Australia is no longer the compassionate country it used to be when the poor cant' seek medical attention from their local dr any more.

Thats because people go in for shit like a head ache or a scratch. They should be told to fuck off. Iv been twice, when I was so sick I couldnt walk and when I droped some metal on my arm and severed a few tendons.

I hate people.

My question is, over the 3 months, (1) does this mean I may have done severe damage; are these quantities indicative of this scenario? (2) How do I get my liver function tested? (Preferrably without telling my doc I love to smash large quantities of Panadol)

Go to a doctor and get a liver function, tell them you have been binging 2+ bottles of spirits a week for the last month or so. Or try the panadol and alcohol idea, if its a good doctor they should just let you get one anyway.

It is possible you have done damage, by the time you can tell without a test it may be too late though. Definitely get yourself tested out.

Also don't be lazy for the sake of your body, not worth messing around with your liver and kidneys.

They are here in middle class Australia. I'm a student and I get subsidised medication $4.95 for any prescription, and all doctor visits are free.

Yep am going to GP next week to get it all sorted. I still do believe somewhat seperate to bias that these NSAIDs and paracetamol can be used in low doses habitually without acute damage. Eg: ex-girlfriends mother took 3-4 panadol every single day whilst having Hep-C and smashing bottles of wine yet her prognosis is almost full recovery from the virus.

Another example is when I was a crazy 16 y.o and wanted to off myself I gulped down 72 panadol and about 30 ibuprofen and fell asleep. Next day felt like death, constantly vomiting bile, eventually told parents, in hospital... normal liver function. On top of this, the liver cells love to regenerate. Either way, ibuprofen is really the only conern here, and:

- lowest incidence of gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions (ADRs) of all the non-selective NSAIDs.

- the-counter preparations of ibuprofen are generally labeled to advise a maximum daily dose of 1,200 mg [note: 6 nurofen plus].

- Common adverse effects include: nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, epistaxis, headache, dizziness, unexplained rash, salt and fluid retention, and hypertension. [note: have noted slight hypertension; slight nausea, none of others].

Also, have gone back to doing the CWEs which strangely has meant my consumption of codeine has halved. In fact stopped for 2 days and the withdrawals are just slight agitation and restlessness. After 24 hours you take a MASSIVE shit and feel surprisingly brilliant.

My experience is that the body can handle very large amounts of paracetamol and ibuprofen over long periods (eg 10,000 mg ibuprofen daily for years), with no significant damage.

Some people take lower doses and do end up with hepatic and/or renal damage, so not exactly sure how that works except that I suspect that if you start low and build up that your liver develops an affinity for dealing with the load, but thats a personal theory.

The problem is, you dont know which group you fall into so you cant logically take a risk and CWE is the way around it if you are continuing to use.

You say you are anaemic.. my first thought is gastric bleeding from the ibuprofen which I see a lot of, even when people are taking relatively small amounts. gastric bleeding from ulceration is easily treated with a proton-pump inhibitor such as Nexium (esomeprazole).

I agree that getting an LFT is a priority, but if that comes back normal as I suspect, you may want to investigate the gastric bleeding possibility.

What about going deaf i deaf as but is it from my CWE or over use of all drugs and load music, raves, BDO's and rock n roll.
If ya eyes yellow i think ya liver fucked.
Well thanks to threads like this make sit real hard to get opiates OTC in some of these states some of them like . they full onto it
Man i had pharmist rip up my val script the other day fuckers i ask whats bettter we get our drug from the biggest drug dealer in this country the government and doctors or off the street. Do they really want codeine users going onto the streets to score H, subs, oxys etc. and our money not o going to suppport this great nation but to....crime

Yeah I'm curious about the deaf thing too. Had a few months break from codeine, had a wisdom tooth pulled, got some panadine forte and took eight a day for just under a week, now I'm waking up feeling like I've been underwater in a swimming pool and my ears area full of water? What the fuck!?!?

You sure its not swelling from the wisdom teeth, or possibly an infection that's made its way up there from the op?

Get a doc to check your ears, ear infections aren't fun.

^Yeah was wondering about that it's on the other side to where I had the tooth removed though. Been listening to A LOT of loud music lately too so giving that a break for a bit.
