Codeine & CWE (aka cdub) Megathread: third time's the charm

Quick question, Is it law that OTC codeine containing tablet must contain paracetamol,ibuprofen or some other shit?
 
I e seen pure 30mg tbs before but they were of course on script. And I don't see why they'd bother creating a whole system to try catch the %1 of OTC customers trying to abuse, it seems like a waste of resources and time.
 
I used to get the 30mg pure tablets. Tried them quite a few times, discovered lots of codeine makes you itch like a madman. They are controlled so that peeps don't make homebake ;)
 
Sure but what I'm referring to is more the system in place now (or lack thereof really) where the max you can get OTC is 15/500.

Been cwe-ing every day for 2 months now. Doing a quick taper down to get a decent tolerance break in. 600mg doing barely anything isn't worth my time; I'm hoping a month clean should be enough. I don't know how I feel about re-starting; I don't know if I'll have the willpower to not dose everyday and let my tolerance bounce back up. If that's the case its probably better I quit. 2-3 years of truley responsible use is a good run though.
 
^I got some krat and i'm using that instead. I'm surprised such a small amount is alleviating any unpleasant-ness so well..

I'm over codeine, I think. Realising I've spent the last two months in a haze now that i'm more sober is a bit depressing. It was fun but...meh.
 
It happens too easily, don't beat yourself up - and definitely don't do anything that you know you'll regret later.

Stop while you can, mate.
 
Yeh I'd take DHC over codeine as well (stronger, longer lasting etc...)

Had to go get some codeine today. Was four days off it then last night was offered a pinga. Thinking I was over the main hump of the (I dare say) wds I agreed.

Stupid fucking idea. The combo of no sleep and being scat was to much. Had to get some.

I think if I get back on the "quitting" horse straight away tomorrow my chances of having a break won't be completely fucked. Willpower, serve me well, because my normally intelligent fucking brain obviously can't.
 
480mg of codeine down the hatch today.

After getting and trying H for the first time the other day I've come to realize that codeine is becoming a problem for me. I just need to make the decision to take a break, or try to abstain completely from now on.
 
^I'm in the same boat, man.

The problem with codeine is that it's comparatively mild. For me, I find it easier to rationalise frequent use (because it's easy to taper down, the wd's aren't as bad as most other drugs, I have continuous access) etc.

My latest rationalisation (constant rationalisation is a junky thing I know) is that it's winter and I get the winter blues so i'll just quit once it warms up. Oh golly. :)

Good luck to you if you do decide to hang it up. I don't know how much/how often you use but thank yourself that you aren't trying to quit something stronger like morph or smack.

Man I wish Id knwn about CWE when I was using N plus addiction. I was taking 72 tabs of it a day for 6 years. I almost died ended up in ICU, 35kg, malnourished from eating so much ibu and severe pnemonia with a tracheotomy. I know people mite think why i didnt look for other options but my mind was so numb and i was just so stuck in the whole monotony of it all I thought this was it for me. Then maybe in way the ibuprofen use got it out in the open with my family cause I was so sick and then I addressed it earlier.
 
I've been there too mate. I would take a box of 48 2-3 times a day. I lived in the NT at the time where you didn't heed a label to get N+/panadeine forte so the pharmacists didn't record any of your information. This is actually still the case.

Anyway, you could basically get as much codeine you wanted. You could get boxes of 72 from the same pharmacy every few days no worries. I remember that at a few pharmacies, the boxes of 24 were out the front on the shelf and you could buy three at once!!!!!

It wasn't until I came to bluelight for the first time in 2010 that I learnt about CWE. Besides a few self destructive months a year or so later, I haven't looked back!

What do you mean a label, a prescription? Do you mean the fortes, the 30mg codeine ones? That's not the case in Darwin at least now, and the regular codeine is much the same as in Melbourne - it changed Aus wide in 2010 so that the max dose of codeine phosphate allowed to be sold in one go was 400mg I think it was, and this was the sitcho in Darwin too, when I was living there in 2011.
 
Sorry I meant the panadeine extra. I mean your details aren't recorded at all. In QLD a label is required and the pharmacy records your details in the computer. Sounds like that might not be the case in Melb.?

In regards to box sizes I meant at the time I was eating the tablets straight,
 
Looks like Panadeine Extra come in packs of 40 here in WA now, are they available over east?
 
Damn that's a lot of Ibu. I woulda thought that amount would kill a person much sooner than that.

There isn't pan extra but generics with 15/500 in 40 boxes.

I mean, there is pan extra but it comes in 12/24 packs maximum. you can only get one per pharma, so asking for the generic (for me) was a better choice (im in syd)
