Codeine and CWE Megathread - The long awaited!

I just had 800mg of codeine. feels 1.5 times stronger than 400mg.
anyone else had experiences with taking more than the ceiling dose?
if ui do a search on codeine on www.wikipedia.org it says the ceiling dose simply isnt true due to most of codeine's
anyways I think the metabolite morphine stops at 450mg but the other metabolites are still there if u dose higher. mainly CG6 & even hydromorphine too ive read somewhere.

Dont forget that when u do CWE ur not always extracting 100% of the Codeine. Some extractions work better than others even with the same pills and same method. I found cooling it down heaps in the fridge for hours seems to make it stronger and also a second wash helps heaps too. At the end of the day u will be always loosing more or less of actives. Ive dosed around a gram of codeine before and def worked a lot better than 600mg for example so go figure.

Hydrocodone is a minor metabolite of codeine, and hydromorphone is a metabolite of hydrocodone. Hydromorphone from hydrocodone depends on CYP2D6 metabolism, so I'm not sure if hydromorphone or hydrocodone would play a big role in the effects from codeine. I have seen little good evidence on C-6-G conclusively having effects, been a while since I looked into it though.
 
hrm... thoughts on having 480mg with no tolerance (that im aware of?)? ... I had 60mg of oxy last week over the course of two days, then the day after or so I had 320mg of codeine (40 x 8mg) which felt right on... just then I had 48x10mg without realising the difference in strength (pharmacist suggested generic this time i didn't realise they were so much stronger...) ... maybe i'm just freaking out.. no effects as of yet but what are signs of OD. Just saw on erowid that ld50 is 450mg :s

The ld50, even according to Erowid, is 800mg. The 450mg ld dose was a rare case, and it's highly unlikely considering that you've taken codeine before and may have a slight tolerance building. If you don't have a tolerance, however, just be aware that your liver can only metabolise approximately 400mg to morphine, so the rest usually gets wasted. Needless to say, you'll be fine. I've taken much larger doses before.


EDIT: I'd just like to add that if you feel very uncomfortable with it and feel as though you're going to overdose severely then seek professional help. Otherwise, as I said, you should be fine with it.

Anyone know if ant-histamine use can have an effect on respiration?

Ive been using phenergan a bit lately to sleep and yesterday after using the bike (I do 10kms most mornings) I was super out of breath and in the shower felt like I had asthma or something. Had to open the door to release the steam and really focus on taking big dip breaths.

Was kinda scary actually. When I was a kid mum thought I might have had asthma as one point but the docs couldnt find anything. I eventually caught my breath but I was super light-headed and had to lay down for a while after.

Its possible that I had a mini-anxiety attack when I got in the shower and suddenly found it really difficult to breath. This might have made the whole thing seem worse than it was.
 
^ I've been told by pharmacists and other health workers that antihistamines can sometimes trigger bronchospasm in asthmatic patients. Not sure on how common this is, there doesn't seem to be much information online about it. It may also have to do with respiratory depression? I haven't experienced exactly what you are describing, but I have experienced increased respiratory depression combining strong antihistamines with opioids.
 
I Just deleted my thread on ibuprofen/paracetamol toxicity, now that
i found this thread. Fuck, codeine use is so common in our society, i
see that many people have already damaged there liver here, like myself,
but, like me, it seems there liver has regenerated, as has been said, it is
the only organ that regenerates itself. My doc told me he see's people who
need kidney transplants from nurofen plus abuse, so maybe paracetamol is
probably preferable to ibuprofen if your gonna abuse em without doing CWE.
 
Nah. I really dont think so man. If I abused paracetamol/codeine pills in the same way I that I did with Ubu/codeine back in the day, Im fairly certain Id be FUCKED right now.

Mr. Blonde will back me up on that.
 
The solubility in ibuprofen, as stated before, is lower than paracetamol. That being said, it's also more potent. Either way, one case report doesn't change the fact that paracetamol (from what I've heard) can be more likely for being responsible for toxicity than that of ibuprofen.

Well that's what i think too, when i use to abuse codeine i was always
adamant ibuprofen was better for me than paracetamol, paracetamol is
indeed nasty shit when taken in excess, so i suppose your right, i really
don't know though, i'm just going on what my doc said he only told me
that story, but im sure he see's people who need liver transplants too.

Just out of curiosity, if you don't mind could you tell me how many ibuprofen/
codeine pills you abused in the past? I've hear so many stories, i stopped clear
before i did any real damage, last time i used was 2 months ago and i got a liver
test the other day, i'm fairly certain i'll be alright but i haven't the results yet.
 
Just like 10 or 12 or at a time. Maybe more than once a day.... this was just after the splittable N+ days and I was hooked big time. I read about CWE but for whatever reason the reliability and ease of the process didnt sink into my head.

EDIT, ok thats bullshit. DEF more than once a day. Makes me uncomfortable acknowledging it I guess (although on a personal level I absolutely do).
 
ibuprofen VS paracetamol

The reality is that they are both quite toxic and neither are OK in the long run. There is no getting around the health issues here and they are heath issues that effect organs that are vital for life. Fucking with your liver, kidney, heart, blood vessels (stoke) and gastro intestinal tract is not OK. It's a choice between bad and bad.

Ibuprofen is probably safer for the simple fact that it is much easier to die from acute paracetamol toxicity but both are bad news long term.

CWE is great but you can't support an opiate addiction with it.
 
well, everything I wrote above the text you quoted is why you can't or shouldn't or whatever.

its great because it's a way to get codeine over the counter, that's all I mean by that.
 
Codeine is such an interesting opiate, it's the only opiate i've been hooked on,
and like you, pinkanga, i don't like to acknowledge that i was once absolutely
hooked on it, taking about 40 tablets a day without doing CWE, and the pain
and suffering it caused my family really effects my guilt, i stay clear as hell
from codeine now, because of my past, but i still use other drugs, just ones
that aren't toxic in the long-run, well all drugs are toxic i guess, but i mean
i don't use drugs that contain toxic mixtures. I've been on methadone now for
nearly a year and i'm just tapering off of it, methadone makes me sick, the
first month i was on it, i could not get out of bed all day, and every time i
ate something i felt like i was gonna puke, and i'd vomit all the time, sick.

I've adjusted to methadone now, and i stay clear from opiates in general,
the physical effects are too demanding on the body imho. But that being
said i do like the feeling they give me, the emotional control and warmth.
 
Ever since Christmas I've been increasing my codeine dose to once a day. In the end I was taking 800mg with DXM and I finally looked back and realised how much I was taking. Needless to say I've stopped it for a while, but I still can't get to sleep (I'm not sure whether that has to do with opiate withdrawals or anything, I know nothing about withdrawals). I guess it'd be advisable to be careful, I used to take codeine once a month or so last year up until Christmas.
