Coaxil and the Crocodile: Post-Soviet Heroin Substitutes

The Living Dead

Bloody hell I googled some pictures of addicts of this drug and its fecking awful, one girls arm had her skin hanging off in strips and you could see inside her arm, the bone and muscle clearly visible as all the flesh usually covering it had rotted away. Like someone already said, looks like a zombie

That is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen.
It really shows the lengths that addicts will go to for their next fix.

If only heroin were legal, they wouldn't need that shit.

I feel sorry for them, but right now I am wondering how I can fall asleep tonight after seeing those horrors.

at what point would a government say "OK this is just ridiculous, maybe we should research methadone or even heroin maintenance for these people"

human life is obviously not high on any government agenda these days...

As for one of the questions, the synthesis looks pretty simple - hence the low price. But also as dirty and unhealthy as it gets. Abusing solvents seems healthy compared to this. It's extremly horrible that people have to deal with this shit (I assume they're former heroin addicts).

I'm sure that the girl in the photo is the same girl later in the video. The way her skin has healed around the exposed bone seems to follow the same pattern as the original necrosis damage. Just how bad are the withdrawal symptoms for desomorphine when compared with heroin? They seem to have similar acute symptom timescales.

I couldn't imagine doing that to myself to avoid withdrawal.

how easy would it be to create a *reasonably pure extract*, and would it be edible or snortable?

Krokodil: Another gruesome byproduct of the drug war. By far the most terrifying I've ever seen, that's for sure. Sad.

Reading about this phenomenon has really put me into a bad state-of-mind. It's beyond tragic that this is actually happening in our world, and very sad that the War on Drugs creates situations like this. I really don't know what to say, but as a heroin user I would give up my habit in exchange for diactyl- being able to go into any one of these person's veins. It's shocking, really, how far people will go under the influence of addiction, and kinda scares me regarding the what-if's (what if I were a user in a remote Russian village and my supply was suddenly cut off...).

~1.5m heroin addicts in Russia at the moment, and it's estimated that 1 in 100 use desomorphine. That's 15,000 users right now (15k cases of this...8o:(). To put that into perspective, that's roughly twice the number of active users on BL (active user = logged on in the past 30 days). It's a big world out there and stories like this which are simple headlines to us around the world are huge realities in the locales where they are occurring. Makes me, with my role in the BL community, want to do something about this. Exactly what? Hell, I don't know.

This was a tough read.

i'm wondering if any of our harm reduction can reach them (even just information), and decrease the number of cases of rotting skin?

i would participate in somthing to help out with this ,just talking here ,but man be nice for the government to hand out SAFE chemicals to use kinda like the needle exchange

man i couldnt imagine having this shit ,imagine people who dont go to hospitals for it
