Buying 5-htp over the counter?

Yes, you can order from overseas to Australia (melbourne, adelaide, sydney etc) but you can't order from an Australian place (i.e QLD) if you don't live in QLD. It must be shipped domestic to a QLD address yet overseas can be shipped to anywhere in Australia.. Great rules huh?
 
so i could have it shipped to any address in QLD (i know someone there)....and then it wouldn't be a problem for them to send it to me?
 
^^ correct.. Just make sure it's cheaper as it might actually be cheaper to buy from the net from an overseas place, ship to your melbourne address than actually get someone from QLD to buy from a QLD place and send to you..

^^ i guess you could do that, if you want to be paying 10x more per mg than if your ordered it from overseas..
 
okay, well i didn't realise that, i've never ordered anything from overseas before so i guess i was just trying to avoid doing it. Well i guess i'll just have to give it a go then!! thanks
 
It's definitely cheaper to buy O/S for me; www.americannutrition.com have a great special (which has been running for at least 6 months now) on 120 x 100mg caps for $15.95 US. I usually buy two bottles and the postage is $8.95 US to Melbourne, so that's $54 Australian for 240 capsules. Beat that!!
 
how long did it take for them to arrive and do they add on the postage amount to the total price?
 
About 3 weeks and no, you're not informed of the postage at the time you place your order - they send an invoice to your email account.
 
ahhh i just ordered 2 of these last night. from american nutrition 240 at that price is awesome. was hoping i would get them sooner than 3 weeks though. ahh well. at least i know someone can vouch for the website being legit and all.
 
just an update.... my 2 bottles of 120 caps each arrived yesterday (monday) - 8 working days after i ordered them. Not too bad at all.

was opend by customs but resealed and arrived in perfect condition.

do the bottles say 5-HTP all over them or do they look like any old vitamin supplements? reason: i still live at home and i reckon my parents may be a little suss about vitamin's imported from the US, hmmmm, maybe deliver them to my mates house. I wonder if customs is clued on to the reasoning behind these?
 
^^^ people also take them for insomnia and depression in some cases.
 
yeh it says 5-htp quite clearly on them, but theres also lots of different bottles, which contain different amount of caps or mg`s. i got them from clubnatural.com, which has pics of the different bottles and how the look.
 
5-htp is a natural mild antidepressant and is used for weight loss as well. These are two valid excuses you could use.
 
The brand of 5-HTP I get from ClubNatural has "Rest Factor 5-HTP" on the front, which is useful because it could be explained as a natural supplement to help you get more benefit from sleep.

so im guessing, there is no hope of findng 5-htp in Melb?
also if you order them over the net, can customs get you into alot of shit?
 
I've tried to buy it at every health place / pharmacy in brissy.. all kinda have the same responses...
either they don't know about it
know what it is and won't sell it to you
or know what it is and pretend they don't know what it is.

I ordered at an australian online place (thexton.com.au), and paid too much for not enough (oh well)

its not controlled import or sale, you should be right to order it internationally to anywhere in australia. Some places have controlled sale of it in australia (I think melbs is one of them), but nothing about importing it, so again, you should be right.

on another note, I've been taking one a day for the past week, and I've slept like a baby (I'm almost an insomniac and quite often resort to stillnox to get to sleep).
Also I'm feeling alot better (placebo maybe, or maybe cause I'm getting more sleep)
 
I went to a vitiman specialist today and asked for it (I'm in Newcastle), and they said they didnt have it, but gave me an order from from a place in QLD. So I think I'll get it from them.

No you won't get in any shit. It is legal to import a 3 month supply - which (correct me if I'm wrong) is something like 90 or so tablets.

The package will be opened and inspected by customs, but that will be it.
