haha yeh you easily could have, by the end of that day it was up to your knees in mud no matter where you walked haha

^^ I would never have thought of using that stuff at doofs :D
What's wrong with the sugar in sports drinks? Sugar's awesome when you're lacking in energy in the morning ;)

I buy tubs of powdered Gatorade and it is a total lifesaver. When you just can't get bulk amounts of water down, and when you have been exercising really hard.

About 10 bucks makes 8 liters worth. I would never buy a 600ml Gatorade ever again. (or a coke or whatever, total rip off when you can get a 1.25lt bottle of Coke for $1.50 from the supermarket)

Nothing wrong with sugar, sugar ;).

Better value for money though, 10 or so packets for under 10 bucks instead of 3-4 bucks for a powerade etc.

thing about sugar though is, its a bit like MDMA, nice highs, but the come down lows are a bastard

When I first read through this I thought it was a fair bit pedantic. Then I recall the first doof I went to, I went along like a yahoo didn't bring shit with me not even money to get in. Dropped a couple tabs when I got in there. As the acid started to kick in my mate freaked out we'd lose his car cause we had snuck in and left the car hidden off the side of the track so we trekked back through the bush luckily found the car before the acid kicked in too hard and my mate bought a ticket and drove in. I still had no money so had to walk back through the bush alone with only faint sound of music in the distance. I made it back in and this acid totally kicked our asses (strawberries) I lost my field of vision walking from the campsites to the dancefloor in probably a 100m patch of thick trees haha. It started pouring rain ended up being stuck there all night till the acid peak died down and I could see again sitting infront of a tree numb from the cold, lost my phone somehow too. Probably karma for not paying, not sure if it was the acid but my fingers looked blue by the time I made it back to my mates car again. So really it all came down to common sense and the motto "be prepared." My mate said that the whole night he was looking for me just walking around in a daze asking people "have you seen XXXXXX?" They're like "who the fuck is he talking about"

^^ So....have you improved your doof preparation/supplies now, after that shitty first experience??

That's the goods :) Pop gets bad cramps at times, so we keep that stuff in the house as well, but it's a must-have for doofing in our camp.

For our next party, i'm pre-cooking a shitload of quinoa to have in the morning - so easy on the stomach and a heap of protein (including lysine). I'm also taking a heap of rice milk - which from experience is beautiful after a big night when you don't feel like eating just yet (and for someone like me who can't handle dairy in the morning)

We also have a sodastream which we'll take - we both love soda water and so we'll just take that, with a heap of water. At RSF 09, we took a couple of 20L containers of water to drink - which turned out for the best, as apparently one of the water tanks became contaminated with something and a number of people got a touch of gastro/the runs.

Oh, if it's not already been mentioned - for a longer doof, taking a solar shower was HEAVEN. I stood in a large round tub (like the ones you use as a camp sink) and rinsed myself off - we then used that water to clean our feet for the rest of the afternoon, until it became too dirty. :)

From my last experience I highly recommend that people double check that their tent is in working order before they go. Having no tent to sleep in is interesting but not great.

Also a gross tip but if your a nervous toilet user I highly recommend purchasing lomotil (used to treat IBS) if it's a short 2 night doof but be careful not to eat too much and only take it once (can be dangerous if repeated).

I use to do this years ago, i'd come with nothing but money, clothes and a car.. i'd get my substances and the rest was history, often didn't sleep or in rare case's just used my car.

Until one time i decided to come fully prepared, tent, esky, food and a sleeping bag, looking back i can't believe i use to goto doofs with nothing but the clothes on my back, it makes a world of difference. :)

Bring 3 times the amount of layers you think you'll need. Even in summer (especially at rainbow serpent) it can easily get down to 4-5c at night.

At the republic doof a couple months ago i was wearing full thermals, jeans, and 4 layers of clothing and i was still freeeeeeeeeezing!

So def bring plennntyyy of very very warm clothes coz it WILL kick your ass no matter what time of year it is.

^^ That is a great point. I always bring a full bag of extra clothes :)
Plus in winter we ALWAYS make a campfire! We did it for the first time last year, and now, like malakaix said about bringing extra stuff, we can't imagine ever doofing without making a fire now :D

Obviously when it gets later in the year you need to know what date the fire restrictions occur so make sure you check beforehand.

I have been thinking about getting a camping shower for some time now.... also, a camping toilet!

great advise man, last Rainbow i definitely didn't take warm enough clothes and my god did that cold get to me! When doofing, pack for ALL weather because you can never be too sure what the weather will be - even in summer.
