Television Breaking Bad

He's really a pointless character IMO. Until recently with this tax audit, he's been nothing more than a tangent story line to evolve Skyler's character.

You're right, he is there to evolve Skylar's character, but I don't see how that makes him pointless. You could say that the Schwartzes, Tuco, the cousins, and almost every other non-central character is pointless since they're only there to progress the story or reveal something about another character.

I see what you're saying, but to me, all of the characters you mentioned progressed the story while Ted Benecke doesn't really do much. Prior to this new tax audit story line all he did was sleep with Skyler, once her and Walt were already on the rocks anyway.

Jesus Christ.

I love the maniacal laughter..

I don't love the insane cliffhanger.

This was bar none one the most intense ending to a TV episode I have ever seen in my life.

ZOMG....I know

I wonder how Walt's gonna get out of this one...He actually didnt even need to freak about what Gus threatened....just as long as he leaves Gus, and Jesse alone.....he should be alright....and so should his family....

He comes out of the deal relatively unscathed....He's got a profitable car wash and some extra cash.....and doesnt have to stress the job anymore...

Am I missing something??

I think maybe they're just going on Walt's instability and paranoia....he's just absolutely lost it....which was quite beautifully captured with that maniacal laugh

Sol shoulda never made that call....he's going way too far out of his way for Walt

At this point though....I think Walt and Skyler's only move now is to cooperate with the DEA.....I think that's the only logical move...

But who knows with this show....If the try to make a deal with the DEA then wouldnt the show pretty much be over? :|

i've been watching this show since the beginning and it's so amazing!! i usually only watch cartoons, but once i heard about BB and starting watching, i was instantly hooked. ANYWAY, tonight's (yesterday's?) episode was absolutely insane! i don't think walt should be displacing his family from gus's threat, but i can see why he's scared. and i can't believe gus is trusting jesse this much! i'm so curious to see how that relationship is going to play out.

Ok...ok....this Ted guy...WTF is up with him? He's obviously a complete piece of shit, no two ways about it. But why did he run AFTER he signed everything? He bolts as soon as Bill Burr, (this is the randomest role for one of the greatest comedians at the moment to be in, but whatevs), talks about hanging out and waiting for the check to clear, as if that was the worst thing that happened to him. Was he hiding something? He's dead now though, so I guess whatever he was hiding will remain hidden until some other shit comes out. He's such a pussy, top to bottom, to have really been involved in any criminal activity other than random "white collar" BS here and there. Maybe, the check will bounce? lol, if the check bounces and he's too dead to return the Mercedes.

Oh yeah and the final scene, with walt kinda tired out from the maniacal laughter and his arms laying above his head while he's on the floor of the cellar, was very symbolic. It was like he's down in the dumps, boxed in, the walls are closing in on him, rock bottom, etc. with the metaphors...but yeah, the rock bottom image, where just a few episodes ago he's all about "I am the danger" and then the black enforcer dude was like "do you think we're going to stop production for YOU?" with a smirk. That must've really hurt Walt. Poor guy.

I like how this show kinda makes it seem like cancer's not that bad of a thing to happen to a person...like I'd rather take the bucket list route then the breaking bad route if I found out about cancer.

I think this show is that insecurity (as in Walt's insecurity) is the root of all evil. Money might play a part in it, but it's not that large of one. It's insecurity which drives all the horribly irrational things that Walt has done. I highly doubt Skyler will "miss" Walt in the traditional sense of the word, once he dies.

totally agreed. he should've done something before he thought about keeping huell happy. i literally laughed aloud when he bit the dust. the little twitch of his fingers was especially comedic. (actually, i found this episode to be pretty funny.) i kept wanting to yell at skyler for trying to help him (i understand her caution about being audited, but really?) and how he'd call the house phone given their "history." ted was a selfish, immature idiot! i do wonder what else he was involved in...

What the fuuuck?

Goddamn, Walt is in for some serious shit. He would have been fine had he not sent in the call to save Hank, but now he knows he is immediately doomed.

Holy fuck. Somebody big has to die at the end of this season. I'm going with either Skyler or Hank.

I couldn't stop laughing towards the end, that was great.

I was thinking, why wouldn't he take the deal Gus gave and just leave? Instead he gets arrogant and tells Gus he can't kill him or else Jesse won't cook; but he could just force Jesse to cook anyway. Then Gus mentions that he intends to kill Hank, and that's where Walt's situation gets complicated. To save Hank's life he puts his family in the line of fire, which he intends to remedy by taking the vanishing option; thinking he has the money to do so.

Of course when he gets home and sees that he doesn't have enough money it all comes crashing down on him. All he can do is laugh, but knowing his family could very well be killed comes back to him.

I have a feeling Mike is going to start playing a bigger role in helping Walt out of his quagmire.

Saul is a king. I wish he was in half of every episode, lol.

He went to the best law school ever; he has the solution to EVERYTHING. :D

And Huell is a great character. Remember when he asked to use the washroom at Walt's apartment and then flushed as soon as the conversation stalled? :D

^IDK about the Mike theory man...he seems pretty disdainful of Walt. I kinda thought it seemed like he lost respect for Walt in almost every conversation they had. When he was telling him about "half-measures" back when Jesse wanted to kill those two thugs that worked for Gus, and he came in late at night, and tried to make a lighthearted comment about daughters or whatever, and Walt just didn't want to have any kinda cordial small-talk, and just get down to business, he definitely gave him a shitty look. And then I think he thought it was ridiculous of Walt to even suggest the fact that he could run the operation, and then punched him in the face, which he probably wanted to do for a long time.
Now he seems more erratic than anyone, he might as well be taking meth....it doesn't seem like Mike likes Walt all, IMO.
OH! Speaking of "might as well be taking meth", this past episode, what did people think of the fact that Walt weighed the tote of meth, and then Tyrus re-weighed it, and the number was significantly lower (wasn't it like almost half a pound, or something like that?) I forget the exact difference, but Tyrus just gave him a look. What if Walt really is taking meth now? That would explain the ridiculous way he's been acting. You gotta figure that with the threat of death hanging over him like a cloud, he's not going to be too concerned about his health all that much.

Skyler has gone from a person who cringes at shoplifting to a money launderer/extortionist/murderer

She's not a murderer, Ted accidentally killed himself. If he would have taken a chill pill and let the check clear then he would have been out of the woods. His character was a twat, I can't say I'm all too broken up about the end of Ted Beneke.

Whoever mentioned that he didn't have the money in his account and was afraid the check would bounce, one of the guys tells him that they know exactly down to the penny how much money he has in his checking account so there's no point in saying he doesn't have it. I don't think they would force him to write the check if they knew it would bounce.

Coffee Drinker - It was off by about an ounce or so, which is a small amount when each tote is 40 lbs but it did seem fishy that the two weights were different. I agree with you that Mike doesn't like Walt at all.
