Television Breaking Bad

What about Gus' Big Brother camera network? The DEA is obviously going to be investigating all of his operations now that he died in such a way. Unless Mike or one of his other cleaners gets there first. Either way, Hank is going to get the Cy Young award for his insight.

I believe that all of the cameras were on a live stream, with none of them set to record. Every scene in which we witnessed Gus behind the camera indicated this. Gus would not leave recorded proof on his laptop like that. It would be way out of character. Not only that, Walt and Jesse would get caught in the first episode.

There is the possibility, however, that Hank finds some well hidden bugging equipment that was installed in Walt and Jesse's residences, with recorded conversations. That would be an outstanding plot device that would reveal Heisenberg to Hank, without having the entire DEA find out at the same time, allowing Walt the opportunity to corrupt Hank before he turns him in.

Am I the only one who doesn't get what Walt gave to that kid.... or how?

It's implied that Walt gave him a type of berry, a poisonous berry called Lily Of The Valley. Basically he gave this berry to the kid, in an effort to make Jesse think Gus attempted to poison the boy, which in turn would allow Walt the ability to manipulate Jesses anger into a means of killing Gus. Not much to it other than that. Doesn't explain what happened to the Ricin, nor does it explain how the boy got the berry in the first place.

I think it's just another underlining sign of how Walt has turned from good to bad, he is willing to do what ever it takes. Sending the neighbor into his house to see if anybody was inside was just another symbol of his turn to the dark side.

^I'm not one to delete my posts just because someone else submitted at the same time as me!

Except that my post was made over an hour before. ;) Anyway, I did some digging and found an interview with Vince Gilligan. Specifically, the third question.

On an unrelated note, Breaking Bad has featured some good tunes.

Dude, the ricin was a red herring. Walt presumably disposed of it. The question of the berry is a harder one. But Honey Tits was shredding a school schedule, so it's possible Saul got someone to poison Brock at school. I'm hoping we find out in a flashback next season.

You know, I didn't even think about that in regards to the Ricin. It makes sense that Walt would dispose of it to make Jesse think it was the Ricin, otherwise the plan wouldn't have worked at all, he would think it was just a freak accident.

This actually felt more like a series finale, tbh.

That's the impression i got, i was under the assumption this was the last season.. especially with the 'I won' comment, every other season has had a cliffhanger.. this seemed to clean-up towards the end.

next season Walt breaks completely bad by mass-producing cis-fluoro-ohmefentanyl, 17958 times the potency of morphine:

FINALLY, GUS IS DEAD....YES....YES....YES

The episode was very good. I think the berries came out of Gus as you see the two guys at Walt's house coming out of the garden. He wanted Jessi to think that Walt was trying to kill the little boy. I highly doubt that Walt would kill little boys...not like him. Unless he knew that the little boy was not going to die and he was just trying to get Jessi's attention. My last post for a while :(

ATL Girl, one thing about the series Breaking Bad is they are very candid with their intentions. What I mean by that is that the creator has been very up front with the direction he is going. He is not out to trick you. So, when you see the berries in Walt's backyard, it alludes to the fact that it did indeed came from Walt. Anyway, this isn't conjecture. The creator stated so in an interview after season 4. This is the official crossing over for Walt into the dark side. You could see it earlier in the episode when he openly sacrificed the safety of his neighbor to see if anyone was in his home.

You can also see it was Walt from his expression after jessie leaves in the final meeting, like he can let go of the act he had been holding together while Jessie was talking about it not being Ricin.

Great season finale and I'm glad they ended it without a painful cliffhanger, would of been too much. My only criticisms really would be with the amount of times you have to suspend belief (as in often people are completely relying on certain actions to lead perfectly onto other reactions in the show, which get more and more outlandish) but really its all so well put together and gripping it doesnt really matter.

I can't help but feel disappointed with season four. I absolutely loved Seasons one and two, and greatly enjoyed Season three. However, Season four was too slow paced. In the previous Seasons, each episode was moderately paced, and had enough excitement and action in it to keep my interest. Meanwhile in Season four, everything was centered more on emotions and tension, often making it feel like we only had 4 or 5 actual scenes in each episode.

I can appreciate the slower paced episodes, it adds more tension when it's done right. I can't help but feel a lot of time was wasted though. Unnecessary scenes, unnecessary dialogue, stuff of that nature that could have been edited out to make things a little more faster.

Also, I no longer like the character Walt. I rooted for him, and was excited to see him achieve his goals in the previous seasons, but in this one I no longer enjoyed his character. I know this is a sign of good character development, but it felt like his lost all the colors to his character, making me lose interest and becoming more interested in Gus's character.

I agree the first half of season 4 was pretty slow. Climaxed quite well, but still had nothing on the any of the previous seasons imo.

what a fucking amazing episode!!!

excellent interview, thanks for posting that.

the lily of the valley is hinted at in episode 412 the week before. Walt sits by his pool, waiting to die. He spins his pistol twice in a row, and both times the muzzle winds up pointed straight at him. Is this fate telling him to shoot himself? But then, on the third spin, the muzzle points at the nearby lily of the valley. This, to me, is the moment that Walt begins to get his bold (and reprehensible) idea of poisoning Brock.
hah! pretty sure nobody would have spotted that.

New York – NY, August, 14, 2011 – AMC announced today that “Breaking Bad,” the Emmy Award-winning and critically lauded drama series from acclaimed writer/producer/director Vince Gilligan has been renewed for a 16 episode order that will conclude the series. Production on all episodes of the final order will commence in early 2012. The roll-out of the episodes and premiere date schedule has yet to be determined by the network.
dammit, hurry up already!

can't wait to see Mike back in action. i'm guessing he'll have a much larger part than before.

also, I have a stupid question, again:

back in the early days, Mike used to work for Saul, right? and presumably that linked Saul to Gus and his operation? So what caused Saul to completely change his loyalties to Walt and Jesse? Is it just the massive amounts of money they've been paying him for services rendered, or was there something else?

^Mike was Saul's "Private Eye" or "fixer" or whatever the situation called for really, but AFAIK, it was just like contract work. When a job needed doing, he'd get him to do it, but he wasn't really his "boss." Gus has been the actual boss of him the whole time, whereas Saul was independent the whole time. Remember, he didn't even know his name at the time of the first meeting, he supposedly didn't even know Gus's name until after Walt and Gus had struck a deal.

I agree the first half of season 4 was pretty slow. Climaxed quite well, but still had nothing on the any of the previous seasons imo.

Definitely agree, I think the "Marie stealing shit from open houses" episodes was one of the biggest wastes of time I've ever experienced. It caused collateral damage in my perception of the whole season, but not that much really. It was a shame that I was talking about how good the show was to a buddy who hadn't seen it, and then THAT had to be the episode they air right when I was like "you just gotta watch it"....luckily he gave the show a second chance after that and saw what everyone was talking about.
