Breakfast

Plus, delta_9 really knows his shit when it comes to this topic so ya might wanna listen to him ;)

Sure, go get some vitamin, mineral, amino acid, lipid, and electrolyte tests done and come talk to me

Edit - I always lol when people think certain foods are "better than nothing". It's an absolute RIOT!

So true. It isn't better than nothing. You'd be far better off fasting than eating that shit, monkey... no offense. I know people hate to hear that but nasty processed gluten product is not "food" in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice, Delta.. I can't take any sort of probiotics or lecithin though. Well, most lecithin. Usually is made from soy and even the tiniest bit of soy lecithin makes me super ill. Although I hear there is sunflower lecithin available now-any thoughts on that? I ]might try it one day.

Probiotics- I have always had bad, bad reactions to. I am not sure why, I suspect it is because of my severely damaged gut. I know they say you need probiotics to heal but every time I've tried to take them (*in pill, or kefir, or kombucha, or whatever form) I get huge, very painful pus filled lesions all over my skin + digestive problems. I've tested this many times, there have probably been over 10 different times in my life I've attempted to take probiotics and every time my skin breaks out horribly and I get "stopped up" so to speak. Someone on another forum (scd forum) suggested that people with severe intestinal permeability need to heal that before taking probiotics because the bacteria just leaks out into the blood and causes more autoimmune problems. That seemed to be the case for me, I stopped probiotics and my skin healed and my gut is working normally now.

I do like blueberries and use them in smoothies sometimes. But I love pineapple the best, much better than papaya. :)

Usually these days, I have a green smoothie, or just fruit and nuts. With a cup of cacao.

I highly recommend just fruit for those that aren't doing heavy physical labor. The lightness and clarity of mind is awesome. And it gets you just the right hungry before lunch.

Sunflower and rapeseed(ewww) are a decent source of lecithin, although probably more expensive :\

That seems plausible. I hate to say it, but microbacterial biology isn't my thing :\

I'm certainly glad to hear you're back to your normal, beautiful self <3

Try not to fret though, your body's endogenous bacterial colonies are probably doing fine :) Hehe, they just don't like intruders in their turf %)

Lecithin - Worst comes to worst there are millions of choline supplements available. Be warned though, most(80%+) contain waaaaaaaaaaay too much lenoleic acid. (Omega-6s)

Oh btw, you may enjoy this. I have this powder that I like to dump in my shakes from time to time - Link :) along with a tablespoon of organic japanese matcha powder

WTF is vegemite?? You guys are speaking a language I dont understand!!

And yeah, my husband eats waffles, pop tarts, cereal, hot pockets and all that nasty shit, so I have it in my house but I hate eating it.

We also have tons of fresh off the tree fruit. I used to make a kick ass fruit salad every morning with honey and almonds but thats too much work for me now

Its funny, if I dont eat breakfast I can go for a long time w/o being hungry but if i do eat bfast i end up hungry again in like 2 hrs--y does that happen?

Heeheehee =D To me this is like saying "WTF is milk?" or "WTF is bread"?
:)

Vegemite is a staple bread condiment in Australia. It's savoury, quite salty, and is perfect on toast with butter. The key for newcomers to Vegemite is to try it very sparingly (like a tiny scraping) on toast or bread with loads of margerine or butter (whichever is your preference).

n3o, i do vegemite on its own on thick "cafe style" raisin toast. no need for butter there.

Nice, I've never had it on raisin toast before. Salty + sweet = good?

I sometimes have it without butter/marg as well, but I was moreso stating that combination for people who are vegemite virgins, as I imagine the taste would be fairly strange if one hadn't had it before ;)

nice combo, do try :)

back in the day, i used to make fun of mcwiggs for this combination

hector doesn't care for it, but scarlett will keenly clean my vegemite knife as her eyes water

Wow, people sure seem to eat a hell of a lot of carbs (fruit, toast, cereal) for breakfast. Much as I enjoy eating toast/grains (gluten free, though), or fruit, that much carbohydrate(s) in the morning would make me crash. My breakfast is usually protein and fat heavy, with a smaller amount of carbs later - but I've got the sort of metabolism which seems to respond better to fat and protein than a lot of carbohydrates.

I'm not claiming I've found my ideal way of eating yet, but I'd feel like shit if I had toast or cereal for my morning meal. To each their own, I guess.

I hate butter! The only time i use it is in baking...

I guess I'll stick to the fruit thing. I think I got a little confused in talking to my husband first about my breakfast problem, he does do heavy physical labor 1st thing in the morning and pretty much all day so he NEEDS a full heavy breakfast (and NotDeja, he hates eating waffles, and pop tarts for breakfast, he'd rather eat eggs, rice and meat but he hardly ever has time to make it @5am, if i am ever up with the babies anyway at that time i always make him a breakfast sandwhich or something), after talking to him i kinda thought that I needed a shit ton of protein too but all I do all day is change shitty diapers so fruit it is!

I eat about an hour after I get up. This is about 30 minutes after I finish my morning coffee.
2 whole grain waffles and gob of natural peanut butter.
This leaves less crumbs in the car as I drive to work than toasted bread.

Weekends are omelets or strata.

Yep, each to their own :)
If I only had protein for breakfast I wouldn't make it through the morning! Whole grains are the best way for me to have enough energy to get through until lunchtime without snacking.

when i tried to start a proper brekkie routine (instead of getting a muffin from a cafe near work and eat at my desk ...bleh!), i tried simple cereals and it made me feel like utter shit. after i got onto raisin toast with vegemite i mixed it with some muesli, and now i'm perfectly fine with it. dunno if it means my body adjusted or the muesli i eat is just far better than whatever cereal i was having before (i forget which).
