Did you go to that? I was there, it was a really tight show. I don't care so much for Famaily Groove though.

No, I didn't make it. I had like no money and no one to throw down on gas. Lame, because Lotus is sick. They blew me away at Summercamp this year. Family Groove is alright but I see them so much. They play here in DeKalb quite a bit.

Last night ATP's halloween show (in the following order):

Lightning Bolt
Pissed Jeans
Wooden Shjips
Om
Les Savy Fav
Shellac

was sweet. great seeing steve albini dressed up as a mummy.

the NIN show was fucking amazing. The visuals were out of this world too.

Wired article on the technology behind it:

Shitty video that doesn't begin to do it justice:

The song line up was nice as hell. Glad to see they did a good deal of songs from Ghosts. It was nice to see the blend of technology and the wide range of instruments that were on stage.

But I will never ever go to John Paul Jones Arena ever again. first... you want a beer? you get herded off to this space outside like smokers do and you're confined to it to drink. It's kinda like a concentration camp for substance users. But in order to enter, you have to get a bracelet on your right arm which requires your ID. And you get one X on your hand and one X on your bracelet every time you buy a beer (again requiring your ID) to make sure you have no more than 4. After a while the number of digits on your arm begin to resemble Auschwitz tattoos .

They inspect you as you enter this area, and as you leave it.

when you go to the floor... of the concert area, you have to show your ticket, and then you're directed back upstairs to go get another bracelet that proves you are "general admission"

every time you leave the floor to go to the bathroom and come back you have to display your bracelet and ticket all over again, each time you go down.. they hole punch your ticket. Again like Nazi Germany, you're in a constant state of showing someone your "papers" in one way or another.

Supposedly there's a limit on the number of times you can leave the floor and come back and lastly... in order to go outside to smoke.. they card you.

They kept a 40 year old woman (easily 40) from going out to smoke b/c she didn't have her ID on her.
