What right do you have to call yourself an 'electro' fan when you weren't there from the start? How does it feel when other people who have been listening to electro since the 80's call you a sheep and presume that you just jumped on the bandwagon when it got popular? Does that seem fair?

What right do you have to question other people's motivations for having an opinion in this case? So only people who work in the field of human rights have the right to offer an opinion and everyone else should just STFU?

Are people's contributions only valid if they can prove their interest in a cause is long-standing and can be traced right back to the time it started? So I guess any money given to charities that work in Sth East Asia since the tsunami should be flushed down the toilet too since it's all from mindless sheep jumping on the bandwagon.

I'm sure you'll find that most people who are voicing their opposition to Nguyen's execution have always held the view that the death penalty itself is fundamentally wrong. Their opinions are as valid as the next person's, just as anyone should be allowed to buy a ticket to see Fischerspooner, whether they started listening five minutes or five years ago.

on topic... i don't believe the govt has done all they can, they value the trade deal they have with singapore more than the life of an australian even though they're supposedly against the death penality, but pfft, as if one could expect anything less from this govt that fucks innocent australians for economic growth.

as was mentioned by numerous other posters in this thread, if you support the punishment and you consume drugs you're a fucking hypocrite.

why be so vicious to myself and others purely because you don't agree with our views? If everyone had the same views then the world would be a boring place and just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make your view any more valid or right than theirs. It's the way the world works and obviously there are 2 sides divided by this particular topic.

So why quote me when saying it?? Seems like a direct dig if you ask me.

If you are so passionate about this then start a petition - write a song - do something. Don't just sit at home in front of your computer having a go at everyone that doesn't share your opinion just because you are having a bad day or a bad life or whatever.

While we all understand that you may be more passionate about this topic than others, I don't see how having a go at everyone who doesn't share your viewpoint is going to change the current situation.

Unfortunately for Toung, his fate has been sealed. The Australian Government, despite what you may or may not think, have done everything that they can but it seems that the Sinagporian Government is remaining quite strong on their stance and on the laws that have been about for much longer than you or I.

The laws are in place for 1 simple reason - to deter and prevent people from carrying drugs.

MazDan: Some people don't surprise me when they express their viewpoints but you did. I thought you were a more compassionate person. :\

Anyway, in regards to this Prime Ministers VI + minutes silence malarky... no I don't think we should remember the hanging this way. I believe that if a country takes a minutes silence it should be saved for really important occasions or the death of many innocent people etc; I don't think this situation warrants it.

I can see why people want to stop this cricket match but hey, in my mind we should seperate sport and politics as much as we can.
 
It's a little stupid to stop a cricket match because some wanker decided to smuggle heroin. don't say this clown couldn't of gotten a job or two and worked off his debts, because many Australians are facing debts, many totalling more than 30 thousand dollars and they work their fucking arses off week in and week out to get by.
 
I think it's terrible a man is going to be murdered for making a stupid mistake.

I'm also pretty worried that the Singapore Govt pwns the Australian Govt. We suck.

I agree. Stopping a sports game wont really change or signify anything. Australia should take a more proactive approach to Van's death by comming together as a collective and protesting against the death penalty; wherever it is practiced.

This is the official punch line on the Singapore Govt's drugs policy. The fact is, these laws DO NOT deter people from carrying drugs. Infact Singapore is #21 in the top 25 highest drug crime countries in the world. Taking such a hardline and inhumane reaction to drugs will never ever ever ever ever work because there will always be people willing to take these risks. Infact, taking risks is human nature. Nomatter how big or small, they are all still risks.

If Singapore wants to be serious about drugs it should cut off all ties with Burmese opium/heroin producers. How can anybody seriously have faith or accept this 'justice' when Singapore so openly flaunts ties with these drug lords? Please explain............

What will happen if you abuse 'Ecstasy'?

You WILL vomit
You WILL feel anxious
You WILL shake without any control over your own body
You WILL sweat
You WILL feel extremely scared and fearful
You may die from exhaustion and lack of water

What are the penalties?

If you try to sell 'Ecstasy', you may be sentenced to jail for up to 20 years and 15 strokes of the cane!
If you possess or consume 'Ecstasy', you may be fined up to S$20,000 or sentenced to 10 years in jail or BOTH

Cant believe Alexander Downer is shown in Parliament saying that Australia has done all they can and wont even try to get the case heard in the International court....Our government is truly fucked up, John Howard is a fucken twat - quoting it 'wasnt me that decided to schedule the execution on that day' wat a wanker...the australian people will understand, its my duty!..yeh a fucken cricket match is real important then making a protest even how small that australia is against the verdict.. In Aust first offenders caught with that amount off herion will get 6 years imprisonment in singapore they get the death penalty...if there ever is a reason to protest...that little bald fucker should do it now, my take is that Howard doesnt care enough and hasnt done enough...how did the germans get their citizen freed? australia gets no respect with its own neighbours...reflection on the downer, howard both tossers...
