i've dropped mine on soft mud heaps of times, that doesn't count! but only once, for real, on tarmac. i was going very slowly round a 90 degree bend next to a farm, and the road was covered in gravel. i misjudged the best line to take, changed direction over a bumpy/muddy bit, and went straight down. broken indicator light, bent brake pedal, some scratches. no damage to me but it was a bit of a shock just how HARD you hit the ground, even at very low speeds.

Those fuckers at the motorcycle shop couldn't be bothered to tell me that the risers they ordered me were on back order!! *grrrr* :! And then when I inquired about how much it cost me to have them install them for me they told me that with the cables they had to buy, the actual installation itself, and with the cost of the risers, I would be spending $360!! 8o

I think I will tell them to go and properly fuck themselves! I guess it doesn't matter if it's a car dealership, car repair shop, motorcycle dealership, or motorcycle repair shop, everyone and their brother is trying to rake me over the coals!

Maybe I will take your advice on the asprin Afterglow ;)

So does anyone have any big rides or planning on attending any big events in the near future?

I have a weekend long rally to attend next month. There is a charity ride for Shriners Hospital that I might do at the end of the this month. Other than that I don't really have any big plans for this summer. I still want to do my 7 state run, I just need to get in gear with planning a good route.

yep, in august/september!

two couples on two bikes. catching the ferry to amsterdam, and riding down through holland and belgium to the south west of France. we've rented a huge old house to stay in for the week, complete with a swimming pool. :D

i've figured out the route there but i'm still working on the route back. can't fucking wait! i've been using google maps for the routeplanning, have you tried that PFF?

need to get new hard luggage for the bike though, the stuff i've got sucks.

I might be moving to Texas soon, and if I score a job interview as planned tomorrow, might ride from NY to down there, cowboys (and girls)...

^ I think I got the job, but they want me alive and will probably fly me down. So my swagger was pussy-talk after all...

Awesome bike Felix, I myself have a vstrom1000 but not quite as farkled as yours. V-stroms are probably one of the best bikes made, and I've ridden just about all of them when I was a mechanic at a dealership for 3 years. And yes, loud Harleys suck balls the worst of all of them--just plain annoying. I love being able to go on dirt roads out here in AZ. I too am a member of VSRI, and I believe I have seen you posting over there. Long live the Stroms!:)

sweet, i never thought i'd see another Strom owner on here. better watch what you say about cruisers here though, i believe there are some in our midst. ;)

BUSTEEEEEEEEEEEED! 8o

haha, please don't tell them i'm a filthy druggy! :D

p.s. welcome to bluelight :)

They're mostly all drunks anyway, which is a pretty nasty drug in my book. And for the record, I have ridden some nice cruisers... I just dislike the LOUD Harleys, no reason for all that noise whatsoever, and it violates other people's rights to have peace and quiet. However, a loud Ducati makes my nuts tingle because I know that thing actually has some serious power!

PS: you're secret is safe with me dude, what goes on in Bl stays in Bl

please note that *I* didn't call cruisers 'over priced pieces of garbage'. %);)

(i am far too polite to suggest such a thing!)

hEy! I own a cruiser and I love it! My pipes may not exactly pass noise inspection, but I find that loud high pitched whining from winding out the gears on a rice rocket to be MUCH more annoying and offensive than the low rumble of a cruiser. It's all relative my friend. For that matter, I also find my neighbors lawn mower to be extremely annoying to listen to for hours on end. If I'm going to be required to muffle the noise from my bike engine, why shouldn't be forced to do the same on his riding mower?

Because he didn't go out and spend money on a performance lawnmower muffler, that's how it came stock. Harleys outnumber real bikes here in AZ by like 10-1. And they are all loud, the sound carries for 5 miles, and none of them wear helmets(except the women). They ride in their mega-groups on the weekends and annoy everyone who is trying to relax from a hard week at work. And no way does a loud ricer noise carry like Harley fart pipes. I proudly display a sticker on my fender that reads "the louder the pipes, the smaller the dick". If a group of Harleyites decided to chase me, they'd never keep up or I can just turn onto a dirt road and wave bye-bye.

Hey now!!

I'm a member of an online motorcycle group and we regularly get together for group rides, there could be 20+ bikes in our group and I can tell you that in New England, I have not been through a single town that did not welcome motorcyclists.

When people start talking about oppression it starts to scare me, maybe we should ban loud pipes on bikes, okay then what next? Maybe we should just ban all types bikes all together because they are dangerous and people can get hurt. But while we're at it, lets ban public use of cell phones (because I know it bugs the fuck out of me to listen to someone's cell phone ringing when I'm eating dinner at a restaurant), now, maybe we should ban children in public places because they can be noisy, and no one wants to hear it.

Not every person who rides is a cruiser is trying to be an asshole just like not every person riding a sports bike is an asshole, just like every not everyone riding a sport touring bike is an asshole. EVERY group has assholes in it, no avoiding that.

I don't think anyone is going to get far trying to convince anyone else why there choice in style bike is somehow inherently better than the other. It's pretty much pissing into the wind if you ask me.

and as mentioned before NOT EVERYONE WHO RIDES A CRUISER RIDES A HARLEY. You seem to be making A LOT of assertions that may not be necessarily true.

PS. I wear a helmet but I absolutely DESPISE helmet laws. Maybe it's the libertarian views that I carry but I think the government should butt the fuck out of personal decisions that I, as a tax paying adult, can make on my own. Do they want to wipe my ass for me too? 8)
