"I feel like I've been where it's trying to take me before but forgotten."

That is a very accurate description of plenty of my Salvia trips. For one of mine, I actually figured out where it took me and what it was that I forgot. It was a certain childhood memory. ..Isn't that strange?

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I have had the true childhood memory feeling only on acid but sallvia comes very close in its way of taking me to avery very "private" space. Sorry, I'm lost for waords when trying to describe.

I'm starting to wonder if I have a very low tolerance to salvia. I've had very intense journeys with the 'regular' stuff, using a pipe I made out of foil. Perhaps my lungs are able to absorb it quicker. I don't know. As far as the pull goes, the first time it was to the left. Everytime after that it was to the right. What I don't get is why every trip has to be about a 'secret'.

yeah i havent broken through that many times... so i have yet to fully investigate that headspace

althought from the bit i have experienced, it is definitely the single most odd thing i have ever encountered ;)

You live in the Southern Hemisphere? :)

I always feel like I'm being pulled down to the right.

One time i did salvia extract it felt like four seperate and powerful entities dragging me through the earth, it is a mystical drug and the world that it takes me to feels very alien compared to mushrooms. Salvia usually makes me act weird and the strength of it never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks for the reply, can someone please direct me to a good website other than erowid that discusses my above question into more depth?

This may be a dumb question but im really interested in hearing the opinion of those who have tried salvia at least a few times, do you prefer to open or close your eyes when the effects of salvia hits you? and also, does music playing in the background affect your "trip" significantly compared to a quiet setting?

Well to be honest... You don't know whether your eye's are closed or open, or whether you are listening to music or not when in salvia space. It is a complete out of body experience, so you are un-aware of anything external.

.

It'd be nice, but unfortunately, there's very little know about how the kappa receptors produces these effects...

I still wouldn't be surprised if the found out that salvia hit up another receptor...

how much research has been done on salvia? i can't help but think that it's unhealthy and has to fuck up some brain activity because you get so fucked up after taking a good hit

Salvia taste

This is for Beta Theory.

Hi BT

This is a response to a question you asked on another thread - which I lost 'cos I had to re-register and lost the thread.

I get a horrible taste when smoking Salvia, which reminds me of when I used to chew Lead airgun pellets. Sort of soft and creamy and metallic. Absolutely horrible. However, this is accompanied by a feeling of being just over the top of a big ferris wheel, about to plunge downwards - except there is no ferris wheel and I am falling - constantly, with nothing to hold on to!! Weird, but the most amazing experience I've ever had. I prefer the tincture, which gives a 1.25 hour experience. Totally harrowing at some points, but after the horror of the fear of death, a (much longer) feeling of sublimeness that I have never found anywhere else. I would recommend the tincture. A more gentle come up (15mins), a short period of terror (10-15 mins), then 35 mins of sheer wonder and amazement. OK, I knoiw it's different for everyone - but for me it's the ultimate. Still scares me shitless :-)

Whoaaa!

I seems to be the most simular to dissociatives, but I don't think it really is. It's just too different from anything else. It's a class of it's own.

I believe that other kappa opioid agonists have been studied for their anaesthetic/dissociative properties, so it makes sense that salvia's effects are similar.

>>It's possible to have dissociative-like experiences with amanitas (GABAergic), >>

hold-up.
It was my understanding that amanita muscarias acted through agonism at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Do they have peripheral effects at GABA receptors, or something?
