Best Radio stations across Australia

3PBS106.7 & 3RRR102.7 in melbourne.. lately RRR has been tickling my fancy a lot with their electronic beat sound throughout the day.. in saying that, i host a show on PBS late a night so i'm still a little biased towards my home signal ;D

JJJ.. they have to keep a certain number of listeners else their sponsorship will be cut with the government, so they rarely play anything out of the ordinary these days. They definitely have a specific 'sound' they play all day, and i feel if you play the same songs that a commercial radio station plays then your not doing your job as an alternative radio station. /end jjj hate

It's one of the stations programmed into my car stereo too cuz. Mind you I often escape doofs by retiring to my tent and listen to country on my ipod.

These guys introduced me to Murri Country years ago, I have since found better music on the same station

M.I.A got in on this with these kids as well later on.

I agree - I've been very disappointed with a lot of JJJ's programming over the past months

As for favourites, having not heard it for a couple of years, is ZZZ still awesome? Crucial Cuts was my staple on a saturday night - I used to record a lot of the sets (Favourites being by Simon Slieker ).

I'll have a read through this thread for Vic stations that might tickle my fancy, i'm hoping to find something to tune my radio to.

3RRR 102.7, 3PBS 106.7, 3CR 855AM, 3SYN 90.7, JoyFM 94.9, ABC classic 105.9 are probably my top 6. The first 3 are community stations with an incredibly broad range of programs. SYN is a youth network that sometimes has good stuff. Joy is a queer station who ably fulfil the cliche of playing some quality hard bag

And they have NIRS football too - much prefer to listen to their broad casts for the games
