Hey all
my job sees me travel around the capital cities of Australia, and always end up trying to find some decent tunes to listen to.

Would love to know what everyone thinks of their local radio stations (let me know the frequencies so I can tune in)

Any good trance/techno stations would be great.

Look forward to the replies

Cheers
Bayse

im going to be the bogan that i am and say

Triple J

for a few reason... awesome music, no ad's, decent dj's and its available across the country.

Triple J is the only radio station worth listening to. And there is nothing bogan about it! If anything, its for music snobs! :D We're so much more refined and distinguished than low life commercial/local radio listeners :p

P.S JJJ rocks :D

Maybe you guys can post your frequencies in your states...

jjj Melbourne 107.5FM
pbs Melbourne 106.7 - The music station for real music snobs... JJJ is getting so commercial it makes me illin!

The Edge in Sydney
Best R&B/Hiphop all day.
Selling point = no Aussie hiphop.

Im a huge fan of local ABC and rarely listen to anything else anymore.

If I want music I play a cd or dvd.

Yep.

If I do find myself listening to the radio, I'll also listen to JJJ (99.3 in Perth). Another radio station I like is RTRFM, which is a local station here that plays all kinds of music. I was particularly fond of the drum n bass they used to play on a Wednesday afternoon.

Hehe how/why is that bogan??

triplej is by FAR the best Aussie radio station.

In Sydney, FBI comes close (94.5)

Yes, good point. But I get all my new music inspiration from triplej. If I didn't listen to the radio, I'd still just be playing all my old Pearl Jam and Soundgarden CDs and oldskool rave mixes etc etc :D

I'm a community radio junky - in Melbourne I like RRR (102.7) PBS (106.7) 3CR (855AM) JOY (94.9) and SYN (90.7). Also ABC Classic (105.9)

I'm listening to RRR atm - Biggsy's On the Blower. Tony Biggs is ex-JJJ, when it was a Sydney only station. He got the sack when they went national - not PC enough. This is why I find it hard to rate the jays - it was my favourite station as a teenager in the early 80s. I used to hang out every week for Peter Doyle's punk show - awesome! After the going national fiasco I switched to 2SER and 2RSR - no idea how these stations are going these days.... been out of Sydney for over a decade.

RRR - 102.7
PBS - 106.7
KISS - somewhere at the start of the dial (dance music)

That's for melbourne.

push on the button
talkin loud
and saying nuttin'

...

...

well if you down with impacto let me know that you know
yo, turn off the radio

^ Is that that local house music station that keeps changing its name?

There was one called Hot FM when I was living up there :)

JJJ Brisbane - 107.7

^ Kewl :D There is a hip hop show on Bay FM (but no Aussie stuff :()

I used to love cranking Hot FM in the Ute cruising around the city %)

On the whole I prefer the music on triplej a tiny bit more, but FBI gets all of my love for it's immense support for Australian (and Sydney) music.

If you're up in NQ, Lush FM is a full time dance music station. Frequencies:
Townsville - 95.1 FM
Airlie - 88 FM
Bribie - 88 FM
Mackay - 87.6 FM

I personally don't listen to it, the sound quality was terrible last time I tried it. Fucks me what the go is with that. Also, not really my kind of dance music but I'm a music snob and each to their own :)
