I'd love to stop being a pussy and be able to talk to girls and stuff.

It would be preferable if it was long lasting, strong and did not make me sleepy or kill my sex drive. So far I'm reading about Klonopin being good. I've had Lorazapam (half an mg put me to sleep with no tolerance) and Xanax (half a bar put me to sleep for 13 hours). Guess my tolerance isn't that high. Lorazapam made me feel like I was drunk though. I'm currently getting Zoloft for anxiety, but I really don't want it. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it soon. I never really got euphoria from benzos, I don't know if I was taking too little or whatever, but I don't really care for it, as long as it helps with anxiety.

When I woke up from the Lorazapam, I felt like my face was saggy, is that common (or was it placebo)?

Thanks!

I really don't like people using benzos to be able to do things like talk to girls or ask them out or whatever. In my opinion that's a social skill you need to learn and work on, it doesn't come easily but it does happen.

Anyway, klonopin would probably work for what you want.

Right then, its not the only reason, but it is a big reason. I've had anxiety all my life and I always lose out (on money, girls, job opportunities etc) because I'm not calm enough.

^ I understand anxiety used to be a really big problem for me, I got through it with a psychologist though my drug problems tend to exacerbate it again every now and then.

If you are going to use a benzo, I'd recommend it as a temporary fix while you look for more permanent ways to fix the problem.

Thanks. I understand that its not a good idea to use a drug as a means, they're supposed to be a tool, sorta like how its much easier to travel in a car than on a bike. Only problem is, the car needs more and more gas, and I don't have enough cash to keep paying for it. :(

Were there any problems with Klonopins that you considered very bad? I plan to use them infrequently if anything, only when I have to do something social or have to remain calm.

I take clonazepam for anxiety. It's been the benzo I've been prescribed most often. I've tried lorazepam, clonazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and diazepam for anxiety and find clonazepam works really really well for long term management.

For me, I can take it during the day without having any grogginess. Still, it helps me to sleep at night. That's the best part: I can take it night or day for anxiety and not suffer any unwanted consequences. If NOT taken in excess, it seems that you can stay at the same dose for a pretty long time. I have been taking benzos for anxiety for (total on and off) about 3 years now and only take 1mg clonazepam for anxiety. At NIGHT to sleep, I take up to 2mg. Too, I find it works to switch it up on occasion so that you don't become too dependent on the particular benzo prescribed.

--I use xanax or temazepam occasionally at night time instead of clonazepam.

It sounds like you have a REALLY low Benzo tolerance. Unfortunately, if Xanax & Ativan put you to sleep, Klonopin almost definitely will, too.

If I were you, I'd ask your doctor about effective non-Benzo medications to treat anxiety.

&, of course, you could always consider trying to improve your social anxiety problems through therapy & making changes in your life. Like, you talk about being too nervous to talk to girls & stuff... The more you just force yourself into more situations in which you're conversing with girls, the more your anxiety over it will lessen.

yeah, when i first started taking klonopins i found them to be stronger than xanax, but in a different way... i didn't get sleepy necessarily but i almost always did something i definitely regretted the next day. OP, i think you should talk to a doctor about this. if you are always anxious you need to treat the anxiety over the long-term.

i might add that a klonopin addiction is not fun at all. i recently quit cold turkey and it was hell...

I see where your coming from with wanting to have more "courage" and not wanting to have anxiety or panic disorder enter your life and destroy it. First, I would try to work with different medications that are non-addictive. Paxil is usually a very big favorite for a doctor to use for treatment of anxiety. There are others as well - Buspar can be effective - Effexor, Wellbutrin, etc etc. I would try these different medications first and give them some time to work. If you are still not getting the results that you desire then continue on to a benzo. Since you have a very low tolerance to benzos I would think of trying .25 mgs of Xanax 2-3 times a day or when needed. I strees WHEN NEEDED because benzos are not a fun thing to be addicted to. They are hellish to withdrawal from and very dangerous withdrawals as well. So before deciding to hop on the benzo train I would try different routes. I told myself that Xanax was the ONLY benzo that would ever work for me and I have now switched recently from 2mgs of Xanax 3 times daily - To 1mg Klonopin 3 times daily. I still have the Xanax on hand for extra anxiety if I need it which I am trying to get used to the Klonopin. It doesnt rid me of all my chest pain and tightening which I get alot from my anxiety so im not sure if this will be the route I will stay on but I am trying it out. Xanax became very addicting to me and I began to abuse it and thats when I decided no more. So before you do the benzo route just try other things first.

For talking to girls - fuck benzos

Amphetamines are where it is at. Your self esteem will be through the roof

We really need another thread about taking benzo's to talk to girls? Are we still in fifth grade?

Thanks everyone. I didn't want to use SSRIs because of their side effects, and plan to use a benzo so I don't screw up certain situations (probably not going to take it everyday). I'm already prescribed Dexedrine 30mg, but it seems to be a poor way to treat ADD (in my case, I'm sure its great for a lot of others). Sucks since I asked for it. :(

I'll probably ask for Adderall again and see if that helps.

Do you guys get worst sleep from benzos?

^ i agree, if you get kava kava root from the right vendor it can be very helpful in the same way as a benzo, infact kinda feel like one. but if you have your mind set that just a benzo will help than kava will be of no use to you because its effects are subtle and if your expecting something like 2mg xanax than you wont notice the effects. but you can give it a try if you do some research on it and believe it will help.

Frankly, drugs are not the answer.

You need to teach yourself not to feel anxious. Unless you have crippling panic attacks daily or an extreme phobia, tranquilizers are just unsuitable unless it's for a one-time thing. You shouldn't rely on them to get you through social situations.

You need to learn to not feel anxiety. It's a lot of hard work, but it can be done.

Pick up "The Phobia and Anxiety Workbook". It teaches you relaxation exercises and everything you need to know to overcome anxiety. Seeing a therapist, in conjunction with the book, is a good idea.

Also Zoloft is a good med for you, maybe. Well no not really, it only helps severe anxiety and you don't sound like you have severe anxiety. It works over time, too. It takes a few weeks/months to truly work, and it's subtle, and it doesn't work for everyone, but it could help, and unlike benzos theyre not habit forming and ultimately a bad idea down the road.
