Best anti-anxiety medication by prescription?

I think which Benzo works for which person is obviously a case by case basis.

I have never been prescripted a benzo. But as far as taking (Xanax,Ativan,Klonopin,Valium) on a recreational basis, I would take 20-40mg valium and be very stress free. I wish I could get a doc to write me a script here.

Ativan is too weak , and klonopin and xanax are too potent. And I know I would abuse them fuck out of them if I had access to a legit script.

20-40mg Valium in one bite is way to much for someone who doesnt have tollerance against it. 5 mg and at the most 3 times a day is more then enough.

Iwe taken valium for over 2 years on dailybases and 40mg's make me pass out in 30 minutes.

With some cheap ass Thai Diazapam you might need that much but with "over the counter meds" its way to much.

Personally I would recomend Xanax against panic attacks, they wear of really fast so its not something you wanna be using for your daily anxiety. If you did that you have to take a Xanax every couple of hour every day which it will get you pretty badly addicted in a couple of months.

Klonopin (clonazepam) is a benzo, so like i said before. You can but it's very dangerous.

Of course you CAN drink on Klonopin.. I actually can't think of anything you can't drink on, but mixing any two CNS depressants is much more dangerous than either of the two CNS depressants would be on their own.

So, I really don't understand you questioning what you can drink on. It sounds like drinking might be a little bit too important to you. Maybe you should try cutting the drinking out once you get on whatever he prescribes you and try that lifestyle for a while, it may just do you some good.

^ Yea, klonopin is much better than alcohol if you want to have fun anyway. Alcohol just ruins everything for me...

docs these days seem to try and perscribe every possible thing before they start giving you benzos. be prepared to be prescribed shitty drugs like buspar, gabapentin, two or three different SSRIs, referred to different counselors and things like CBT, ect before you get a long term benzo scrip.. oh yeah for your answer , i'd say if its for generalized anxiety and not panic disorders klonopin is the best ..

Anxiety - Benzos

Hey guys I suffer from social anxiety, it gets very severe where I start getting muscle twitches, I can't sit still, heart races and I just wanna run for the hills.

I saw my G.P about it and he prescribed Seropax which I believe is Paxil in America, needless to say within the first few days I did not sleep I started to have manic attacks and I could not blow a load. I had to skip work because of the severity of the side affects and figured I'd rather put up with anxiety than experience that hell.

The reason I did finally see my G.P about the anxiety was that I was purposely missing meetings at work because I could not stand to be around 15 people, even at lunch times at work, I get shaking and can't stand still in a line to buy food even.

In everyday life I feel great, I'm not depressed at all I just hate the physical affects I get when im anxious in social situations.

The G.P prescribed me 2mg valium pills to take while I was getting use to the Seropax, I couldn't sleep even on 10mg of valium with the damn seropax but found the valium to alleviate all physical issues I was having with anxiety. I told him this and he decided to try me on Xanax only to be taken when needed.

He started with 1mg pills to be taken as needed on once daily, he advised taking half and half throughout the day. I have a pack of 50 1mg pills and I've used about 30 of them in a month and a half because I have to take a .5mg everytime im at work and now I find even when I'm at home on my off work days I need to take the xanax to feel normal.

I'll be honest I'm starting to take 1mg at home and I'm worried about coming off these things, I want to see my doctor and see how I can either go for a longer lasting benzo or see what my other options are.

Should I try SSRI's again? My only real problem with the SSRIS are the sexual side effects and of course the insomnia I was having.

I feel like I should try another SSRI and ween off the xanax but I'm not so sure.

What are my options here?

yeah there is a thread almost the exact same question on the first page of other drugs if you look around for a bit. SSRIs suck IMO, and the best benzo is klonopin because it lasts very long and smooth and you dont have to worry about re-dosing while doing whatever "social" thing you do.

Give it a bit of time... your buspar will take at least 4-6 weeks to start helping your anxiety. You should have been told this when you were started on it. In the mean time you can ask for a benzo, but you will probably be refused them as they are a last resort med.

I would try some Phenibut for temporary anxiety relief whilst your buspar works its magic.

Buspar worked for me. You should be aiming for ~20mg day, and if you do not reach these levels, chances are this med will not help you much.

Klonopin is an excellent crutch to social anxiety, especially when combined with amphetamines (Rxed if possible, d-amp or adderall). IMO of course.

wtf amphetamines no, not if you have real anxiety, amphetamines or any stimulant will just worsen the problem, if not in the short run (it will for most people) then in the long run.

After a little bit of research I've come up with a few options to talk about with my doctor and these are -

Clonidine
Lyrica
And possibly a beta blocker of some sort.

Lyrica sounds great and so do beta blockers however the list of side effects from beta blockers scare the fuck out of me. I'm thinking perhaps a regiment of clonidine and lyrica might be the winner here.

For me I can handle the thoughts I get, sure my brain might be a bit of a mess its just the physical shit I can't handle with the anxiety, you know where you're with a bunch of people and you're shaking and twitching and when you move your head to look around you get like muscle spasms thats the shit I can't stand. When I'm around close friends/family/ by myself I never get these but throw me in with a pack of strangers and I just wanna runnnnnn.

Any oppinions?

Benzos are a razor sharp edge to walk, but they really are the best for almost all types of anxiety from my experience... Just consider whether or not you want that monkey on your back, or the anxiety monkey.

my vote goes for clonazepam.

Klonopin/Rovitrol.

I think its the best benzo to calm down, and ive all the major ones, like diaz, loraz
(which is GARBAGE that makes me delerious, but not to everyone), alprazolam, which i wouldnt recommend only because its great at calming you down, but its also more addictive cuz of the short half life/effects. alprazolam and temazepam, both being very short acting compared to other benzos, tend to have the worst w/d.

It all really comes down to alprazolam, diazepam, and clonazepam. Diazepam is decent, except not so potent, you may have to take more than prescribed at times, but it has a 200 hr half life, making it the best in terms of avoiding addiction (and if ur getting on benzos, that is something you prolly not avoid). I remember, my first klonopin script, i KNEW this was a gateway to hell, but it helps with panic... =P

So there, my input. clonazepam is just as potent as alprazolam, but lasts longer and has a 36 hour half life instead of 7 hours. Its also helped me the most out of these main 3. However we're only talking about anxiety, i love temazepam.

So for the past few weeks I've been put on a Buspar and Vistaril combo to help out with mild social anxiety, which can make me experience panic attacks in heavily crowded or overly stressful situations. This combo doesn't work, as the buspar has really only helped with overall anxiety of stress, but has made me oddly very jumpy and has little to no effects on my panic attacks in situations. My question to you all, what benzo do you find most helpful in treatment? I'd rather be put on something more long lasting like valium, but at this point i'll take anything.

Your doctors another stupid cunt probably. Vistaril is basically like benedryl and buspar sucked super huge donkey boner to me. Xanax is my favorite but it wares off quicky. I'd try k-pins. If valium works good for you but it only makes me tired, doesn't stop my anxieties.
