Benzo's whats the big deal?!

The "high" or "euphoria" for me is to be able not to have panic attacks and be a general freakshow. For me to be able to "feel normal" and not anxiety ridden is the greatest feeling in
the world.

Yup, coke too if you're into that. Or if your just having a stressed out day. Or a bad acid trip. Or a weekend in jail, took eight zanny bars in with me, they had to wake me up and tell me it was time to leave.

True dat. Benzo's are a get out of jail free card. And not just in the metaphorical sense.

^ Exactly, besides they are hardly worth abusing in a recreational sense since tolerance builds ever so quickly, and withdrawals are such a bitch.

I think benzos can be very useful for people that actually need them and when used as directed. Beyond that, they quickly create problems that never needed to exist, without even providing the user any euphoria.

mm not sure what the "ok?" comment is supposed to mean.

How you could consider benzos more fun than opiates is just plain odd imo.

I have a prescription for xanax, it's a pretty low dose (0.25mg). I tried taking some when I didn't have any anxiety/was in a great mood and I felt nothing because I already felt freakin great.
But when I'm freaking out about something, that's when it becomes the best pill in the universe. I take one and 15 minutes later I no longer feel like being choked/I can breathe/I'm not pukey/I don't think i'm dying, and I feel "normal".
For me "normal" is just chill, laid back and pretty damned happy & content.
So I really can't complain, I just know that if I take them "for fun" it'd be a waste of my pills.

Oh and I try not to take more than 1 every few days. Doc says it's "as needed" anyway, and I try to deal with the anxiety for a while before I give in and take one.

To avoid addiction I've started making sure I only use my Temazepam once a week MAX. I never take benzo's more then once a week anymore, no matter what I tell myself. It took me a long time to gain this will power, but it's worked out really well for me so far.

Ive never really taken benzos by themselves. Before using opiates I took xanax a couple times when drinking alcohol somewhere, I cant really tell you how it was, it wasnt that memorable though I guess. During my early opiate use I was put on 10-20mg's of valium per day for about 6 months, I liked it for the reasons I was prescribed it, muscle spasms, sleep, anxiety.

Now however as I am years into using opiates I love to get my hands on benzos when Im able. Ive gotten 2mg xanax, which I prefer, every once in awhile, its a nice little potentiator with my ordinary opiate use. By itself though Im not sure if theres a big deal, but they are considered tops for anxiety, so they must relax you some if not cause some euphoria.

Here's the thing about benzos.

Recreationally, the effects are veeeerrrryy subtle. But it's really good. My first few times I never even felt anything, that's because it's so subtle. But once you learn to feel how it's effecting you it just keeps u relaxed with no worries. But I think a previous poster already summed it up best... CONTENT.

It just feels good to kick back and know no matter what comes at you you aren't going to be bothered or stressed. These all described are at moderately low doses IE 1-3mg Xanax or klonopin.

If you start getting some high dosage, say 4-8mg, ur gonna feel real drunkish almost. Not quite like drunk obviously because it's it's own thing, but that's the best way you can describe it to understand without actually experiencing it.

The biggest problem I find with benzos, and I have read many MANY stories and also have SEVERAL personal experiences of this is, if u start taking benzos, and u have more benzos, ur either gonna end up taking a LOT more than u planned or ur just gonna take em all. It's something with the actual drug where it's one of those you never feel that fucked up in the moment, so u keep taking more, until your so fucked up that your short term memory is completely shot, so you take more without knowing it. Next thing u know u blacked out don't remember SHIT about what happened and have to have it pieced together by some third party. And you wake up the next day then FINALLY realizing how fucked up indeed you really are.

In my personal experience with benzos all these points sum it up perfectly.
If you are looking to experiment I would recommend 3-4mg ur first time for full effect, but please do not exceed 6mg or I promise you you will have no recollection of what happened.

In small doses they r the perfect thing to kick back relax and take the edge off. Any other benzo enthusiats agree?

And sorry for the double post but I really want to emphasize the point that if u exceed what u should take with benzos, you WILL do something stupid and regrettable, which u won't even know u are doing at the time or did the next day when u found out.

The only time I been in trouble with the law is from Xanax.

I took 2 bars, 2 hours later just felt a buzz so I figured 2 more would do the trick, after those kicked in I did stuff I didn't really have control over. I called up my connect and bought more on the spot, downed 3 more and then proceeded to search for my car which I had "lost" in the paking lot for about 30 minutes until a cop stopped me because I looked fucked up as fuck. The sad part is at the time I felt PERFECTLY sober, but did more stupid stuff like told the cop I took 2 bars when he asked me, which I would NEVER ever do if I was actually in control. And when I went to jail overnight it wAs the fastest night of my life. 12 hours felt like 2. Just flew by cause I was fucked up and that's when I realized.

Moral of the story. Careful with the amount u use and if u want to take benzos but have a lot more make sure u take some then leave the rest and don't bring them because I'm sure more people will end up vouching, you WILL take more.

The big deal about benzos is that they are only thing that will put you at complete ease and calm your fears during moments of crisis. They dont make you feel "high", they let you not have to feel at all, which to some people is a wonderful thing to not have to worry about this or think about that.

to be honest I see benzos a bit like ritalin in that they have very different effects on different people, if you've got a full on anxiety disorder they just calm you down and make you feel normal(ish),,and its a F'ing disgrace here in the UK theyre practically a no go for GPs to prescribe anymore due to their 'addictive properties'. Most people you give them a benzo and they just get woozy then conk out, but for me theyre an absolute godsend thanks to the internet suppliers, and shit there's way better highs to ever get me addicted to them,, so Golden rule- they're most effective for peeps with anxiety disorders to use only as and when needed,, never 'take 3 of these a day scripts',,, thats where Ive seen people like me get hooked.. Its weird though, I respect that benzo withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal and kill you,,but taking themas and when I guess I'm just lucky there,, however Im pretty sure the ones with shorter half lives like xanax are the ones that cause more problems, Im fine with vallium.
As for recreational value I have to agree with the OP, occasionally they help potentiate and relax you but they're nothing compared to kicking a proper opiate habit IMO. Dude,, just sounds like you dont need benzos in your life - Im like that with most stimulants to be honest,, whats good for the goose aint good for the gander to use a granny stylee quote ;)

While I do not find many benzos recreational, valium is one that I do.....not only is it a great anxiolytic, it also has great muscle relaxing properties and is quite euphoric when combined with opiates imo. Also IV midazolam is pretty nice too.

You got 2mg valium.. you expect to get fucked up off of these?
has anyone taken a .25 xanax? that mg valium and a couple beers ain't gonna do shit to you unless your really sensative to benzo's i took 2 .25 xanax and kept drinking beers to feel the benzo potentiate and did me nothing. had around 4 beers that night all i got was a slight alcohol buzz.

try 10 to 15 pills you got. That should equal to 2-3 regular valium scripted pills 10 mg.

eh im not oozing out of my skin with euphoria like with a percocet or somethin but i like getting knocked the fuck out every once in a while and even more so the feeling right before that happens

Not a big deal really for a lot of minds i would say unless.... your body and mind has got used to taking them...then it's a big deal, as many here will testify.
Other stuff that make them a big deal? Great if you really can't sleep occasionally, ie on a comedown. If you are mentally distressed and suffering form acute anxiety, they always make a big impact. They are invaluable as a li'll safety net for more powerful Psychedelic compounds, esp for first timers. Oh, and I wouldn't dream of minor, non-general Anaesthetic surgery without a good 3 mg Midazolam IV. All in all they have a great place in the drug world I think, just not great to get used to.

I really don't understand the benzo withdrawl thing. I was on 0.5mg xanax- 90 per month for approx 2 years, over those 2 years, some months, my doctor gave me 60, most months were 90 though. I really didn't take them much during the day, pretty much only used them at night. Instead of taking during the day, I was able to eat 2 or 3 of them at night and slept like a baby. NEVER ONCE did I get withdrawls. What does Benzo withdrawl feel like? I know full well what opiate withdrawls are like though.

Now, I must add. I found that I was NOT able to sleep when I didn't take the xanax at night. I didn't like this at all, so I decided to take myself off of them. I literally just stopped taking them and didn't go back to my doctor for any more scripts of it. I did notice for the first week it took me a long time to actually fall asleep and stay asleep, but other than that, I had no physical withdrawls at all from them. Than again, I didn't abuse them or just gobble em all up just because I had them. I used them for sleep and occasional anxiety. At one point I had a nice stock pile of the 1/2 mg xanies, I would get my new script, but still have like 20 left in the old bottle :) After a while, I had a shit load of them. Even still, I never took more than 3 at one time.

Fast foward about 8 months-1 yr after I stopped the xanax and now, in addition to my pain meds, my doc gives me 15 5mg Valiums per month, I am to take a 1/2 a pill at night before bed. I think he has me on such a low amount, cause I am on 120mg of oxycodone per day, so I would rather be safe than sorry anyway.

The xanax is more of a head feeling and the valiums you feel through your whole body, those are the only noticeable differences I can think of. Either one of them is GREAT for relaxing and getting a good nights sleep. I have suffered from insomnia for years. I work weekend nights..12 hr shifts, then I am off all during the week and sleep regular hours, so my internal clock is all screwed up. Plus, there are other things that give me occasional anxiety and when used properly, they are very helpful.

That paragraph explains why you never really experienced withdrawals. It is typical that most people will experience withdrawals regardless just because they have been on them for that long but the fact you'd still have left overs from your last script and seem to take them as needed may be the very reason.

When people take benzodiazepines "as-needed", withdrawals can be prevented regardless if you've been on them for a couple years.
