BBC 3 Thurs 9pm - How ecstasy Works 13/1/2011

rememember the shows are about science, how it affects the body, its not about lifestyle etc. coke has its place like anything else. in an ideal scenario id love to have a couple of lines and drinks, and just that much at the beginning of a night out in a bar or club before movng on to doing some md, but i dont tend to do this anymore, as the quality is shite, and now ive found md, ive swapped one for the other again, lol. taken me ages to find md, im not now tracking down reasonable coke, probally take me another two or three years like just now with md to track that down, fuck that, i cant be arsed

Now that will be a mission tracking down good coke in this country! I stopped buying after being to the Caribbean and trying the purest i have personally tried, I wont ever try it in the country again...

exactly. its awful in the uk, anyone says anything different doesnt no what there talking about imo. probally nearest place to england uc an find average reasonable or betetr quality is probally spain. not the costa del cunts, the local spanish tend to quite like it i believe. i have a friend whos sister lives in barcelona, and if your a local and no the right people apprently the quality is an improvment from what we have here, but thats about it in this radius

funny enough spain was the only other place i have had decent coke.. the Caribbean stuff we struggled to finish a gram in a night was that good, but we soldiered on lol

not sure how many times probally going to have to say it =D

there is very very good coke in the uk, there is very very shite coke in the UK.

same market as the pills, you pay for what you get...

I want to know why Pioneer Productions didn't make a program about Ketamine? I would have made one about Ket before making one about Coke IMO. I think the potential for harm is pretty comparable between Coke and Ket too, probably Ket winning

not really. kets potential for harm even when u witness somone taking it is visibly there in front of your eyes for all to see in alot of cases. cokes kinda seductive. it fools people into thinking it safe, sometimes for years, and can slowly creep up on you. if you od on k u can have an accident or something, it becomes obvious whats wrong. with coke, long term and even short term users can end up in casualty with heart problems etc. the amount of coke that does harm yet goes undetected and blamed on other things or just bad health through the national health systenm i would imagine is pretty outragous in comparrison to alot of other drugs

I thought it was bollocks because it told me nothing new was generally just showing negatives, could have had more info on what adulterants can do when people but e. Just a crap show imo.

I think it was quite good to be honest.

It didn't cover everything and i knew all the information presented already. However, i don't think the show was aimed at someone who has spent the last 5 years or so researching MDMA and other chemicals themselves on bluelight and the internet so this isn't a failing on the programs part.

It showed some decent positives. The two big ones where in following 2 people for a night out taking MDMA who both were humanised as real people rather than typcast as evil druggies, as has happened in the past on these programs. There was nothing new here presented for people like us familiar with the scene but for some people this would be the first time they'd followed real people taking ecstasy.

Secondly it showed some of the science without dramatising it too much. Including covering scientific research into theraputic uses of MDMA and also showing the theory behind how it works.

Thirdly it tried to put the deaths in perspective (only 50 a year, touched on polydrug use and over hydration etc).

I did think it could have been clearer about exactly what killed Leah Betts, but it did mention most of the important details, allbeit briefly, and there was only so much time in the program. I thought the second woman who had liver problems could have been covered better. I wasn't sure at the end if she's just been allergic to MDMA was just just unlucky or what?

I think the biggest problem with the program was that in places it could have been clearer by going in to more detail.

I thought it was very good for the average person who doesn't really know what they are doing/taking, obviously anyone who reads a lot on the internet/books and comes and chats to extremes on highly addictive internet forums, would probably know most of this already.

But I did think the first half which I watched without getting bored had a non biased view and was very informative, it's good to see people such as John Ramsey the guy with the best pill collection outside of perhaps Jellinek in Amsterdam and David Nutt as you know they are generally non biased and to the point!

I thought it was good too actually, the 2 ravers reminded me of myself at that age. The only thing is that they were a bit sterotypical. It would have been good if one of them was a 33 year old businessman or something like that, who goes clubbing occasionally, yet it hasn't stopped him getting a decent job, good relationship, nice house etc. Oh shit, that's me!

in all honesty I thought it was an excellent program, fair play BBC!

the only thing that was odd was the kid who died in Brighton on what sounded like a big cocktail of drugs, not really anything to do with the E

Aye, can't remember exactly but wasn't GB, ketamine, heroin and (no doubt) booze also involved?

I'm no expert, but I would of thought that combo is a recipe for disaster.

I ended up watching this, thought it was good, not what I was expecting.

The bit with that man that had cancer was beautiful I thought, where he said "tonight I don't have cancer" or something along them lines and they talked through it properly. That made me remember how much of a beautiful thing MDMA can be when used right.

I have never been out clubbing on MDMA (probably one of the only people in the world lol) so I couldn't relate to the ravers but I found the therapeutic part very interesting.

yeah plus cocaine and amphetamines, clearly its tragic but not sure why it was in a program about ecstasy, they didn't even say how he died or what part the MDMA might have played in his death

nevertheless overall very well done program, had some good tunes on it as well! so did the weed one forgotten which ones now but there were some top tunes

I hope it points out that it has the tendancy to turn people into self centred gibbering asreholes that can only speak about themselves. - Not everyone mind, but it does do that to loads of folk. Add that to the whole heart attack thing and then the purity and cutting aspect...i can't see it being put in a positive light at all.

I don't think it should & I take coke. I defend my use of MDMA & weed to almost anyone. I wouldn't really try & defend my coke use as being something good/positive. Pills & weed never got me into massive debt. It would never seem normal to rattle over £100 (at bulk prices) worth of pills on a Tuesday night, somehow with coke that happened all too often.

I've got a half g or so of ching still sitting in my room from New Year. It's so incredibly shite quality that I'll never take it.

I agree. I don't think there is much positive about coke. it can make you feel good, but turn you into a gobshite. it's one of the most selfish drugs going.

I like my coke. Well, liked. Nothing good around anyone I know anymore, though I do know there is good stuff around for a price but I can never track it down.

I'm like dee though, I can take it or leave it. An ideal night would start with a few beers, a small line or two, then hit the MD for the rest of the night. So I just use it as a small social lifter.

not bad...some bits were frustrating with the issues with the complications.

more than just MD can cause similar troubles.
