BBC 3 Thurs 9pm - How ecstasy Works 13/1/2011

I actually thought it was really good. It was on the BBC FFS! Channel 4 + 5 tend to sale closer to the wind.

I agree with most folk, about not really clarifying the Leah Betts death. At the end of the day she would of died from consuming that amount of water. Obviously she drank too much, but for those of us kicking about at the time, the drug safety advise at the time was "drink plenty of water". This has since been advised to something like 1 pint per hour.

The two folk they had on pills were a reasonable choice. It couls of been soo much worse like a 10 pill swedger monster who was still popping pills at 11 the next morning.

The guy, although a bit nerdy, came over as a pretty articulate, intelligent guy. Both programs have shown drugs being used by folk with normal lives, and not just folk with drug problems.

If you had never taken a swedger before, would it sway you either way to take one?

They could of highlighted that MDMA has a very good sfety profile, but I guess that would be one step to far.


My fav part, was " because he want to remain anonymous, we are calling him Robert which is not his real name" - so fuck Id recognise him tomorrow. He's gonna have to wear a crash helmet for the rest of his life.

nom nom nom, that lab with all those pills.

Overall, pretty decent.

Apple stamps got so popular after the Leah Betts thing that there were likely a few shoddy batches doing the rounds. Always found the ones I had to be excellent quality personally.

Be interesting to see the coke edition next week. The ganga one was utter gash, the ecstasy once surprisingly good... could go either way but am expecting a total hatchet job when it comes to coke. To be fair, coke is somewhat more difficult to find legitimate good reason to use though.

Ive got a feeling they might do the obvious and start with how its used by "celebrities" and its glamour; a drug associated with wine bars and professionals. Then start picking at it little by little exposing the crap that goes with it and the state people end up in.

I hope they dont do that though. The whole wine bar/ glamour image people associate with coke is only for the dafties.

Have only really known the fucked-up side of coke. Was just the thing you took to balance the smack and add a lil perk for me and all I knew. Overpriced, fiendish as fuckery and with almost no redeeming values other than an (admittedly godly) initial buzz you keep chasing till bankrupt. Then start robbing folks. Pretty shithouse drug, to be honest. But I guess if you can afford it it'd be more fun.

PS: I mostly always used crack rather than powder cos it was much easier to get for me and worked out cheaper... sort of. Dunno much about folks who just sniff a few lines of powder of a night cos never knew anybody who used it that way.

I don't think that was ever implied, but for science you need to be sure that what someone is experiencing is the drug and not anything else.

I thought it was bollocks because it told me nothing new was generally just showing negatives, could have had more info on what adulterants can do when people but e. Just a crap show imo.

I hope it points out that it has the tendancy to turn people into self centred gibbering asreholes that can only speak about themselves. - Not everyone mind, but it does do that to loads of folk. Add that to the whole heart attack thing and then the purity and cutting aspect...i can't see it being put in a positive light at all.

But is there anything new to learn???? Think we all know the score keep it to a sensible level and this drug will give, but as we all know can be well abused too:D<3
 
rememember the shows are about science, how it affects the body, its not about lifestyle etc. coke has its place like anything else. in an ideal scenario id love to have a couple of lines and drinks, and just that much at the beginning of a night out in a bar or club before movng on to doing some md, but i dont tend to do this anymore, as the quality is shite, and now ive found md, ive swapped one for the other again, lol. taken me ages to find md, im not now tracking down reasonable coke, probally take me another two or three years like just now with md to track that down, fuck that, i cant be arsed
