Wow, ativan is recreational?
Hah, I had it once recently. I just wanted to relax, and it did that well. Otherwise I felt normal and pretty good, but not high in the least. Then again, I have so much anxiety that benzos just take away the anxiety. I suppose I could take more, but binging on ativan would just put me to sleep! :)

I had 1mg every 4 hours for a while in a hospital and while it gave me some relaxation/anxiolysis, like all benzos I've tried (with the partial exception of Alprazolam) it definitely had a tendency to make me feel lousy. The worst in that regard however were Temazepam and Valium.

I had Wellbutrin+codeine once and also Wellbutrin+codeine+Ambien+Clonopin+lithium+prednisone and the 2nd time Clonopin and perhaps some of the other stuff subtracted from the positive effects.

Sonata and especially Ambien are better.

^ valium is my favorite by far, ativan's anxiolytic effects stop working after a week or so of daily use, valium's effects work for much longer. and i'm going to try to get a temazepam script for insomnia because sonata/ambien worked for only a week or so and the doses i needed to take to sleep were ridiculous (50-60mg), i never hallucinated or felt anything besides relaxation and slight well-being (euphoia) from ambien/sonata

Ativan is rec. for those who have not had other benzos or do not have a tolerance, those of us that have had things like Xanax and others, Ativan pretty much sucks. I have a script for 3 a day and I don't even bother with it.

I know a lot of people who prefer vals. I'd have to take what would be a ridiculous dose compared to most people....like 60-80mg to get 'off.' That's even without continuous dose and a build-up over a month or so.

Ambien was always a strange drug for my insomnia. I'd get a euphoria from 20mg and the it would put me out but I'd only get 4-5 hours of sleep and then wake up suddenly (never got the sleepwalks). Estazolam (ProSom) was the best for insomnia the doc gave for me. I liked it better than midazolam and temazepam, which for some reason gave me a tolerance a lot quicker than estazolam. Temazepam is great if you don't take it for extended periods.

Lorazepam's anxiolytic effects only stop working for me if I don't space out the dose several times a day. If I take 8mg at a time, about four hours later I'll just get tired--though I'm on clonazepam too. Lorazepam is a little euphoric for me with a few drinks in me I'd never consider it a recreational personally. I know a couple people that think it is recreational, but they have little or no benzo tolerance---or don't have an anxiety disorder.

i wouldn't take lorazepam even if it were offered to me for free.

its worthless, does nothing.

It really just calms me down and relaxes me a little bit, but no buzz at all. I do like to mix it with weed though, it gives me a nice relaxed buzz.

How the fuck can you make that conclusion? There are a million people here who get effects from ativan. Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't make it worthless for others!

I don't know if I'd say its weak, but I don't really notice the effects. Possibly because I'm expecting a xanax valium or kpin high and I don't have too much experience with it.

just my .02

yeah... ativan has great anxiolytic effects, and you do feel them working if you have a panic attack.

But for the rest? Meh, i wouldn't take it to get "high" on benzos

this is probably the most unique benzo i've ever tried, im experianced with high dose alprazolam, temazepam, diazepam, clonazepam etc etc. I dont think lorazepam is to be taken lightly at all, ive got more benzo stories for Ativan alone than probably any other drug, fun stuff and in my opinion strong stuff. I've been having alot of hallucinations on it latly too which never used to occur.

hmm...odd poll, i voted a while ago but i recently had ativan in conjunction with a lowered dose of klonopin, absolutely ineffective....i remember BEFORE my arguably large (3+mg klonopin for year and a half) tolerance, 2mg ativan would hit me like a freight train...i never though about hallucinations on it per say, but my vision would darken and things would take on a slightly less than normally "concrete" and "stationary" feeling like looking at sidewalks and buildings....more blurring and disorientation than on klonopin or xanax i kno that much, but none of the good or slight "euphoria" us anxious types get...ie. recently i got all those "negative" effects tho i was chilled out so it didnt matter lol from 3.5mg but i thought it would hit pretty hard, but to no avail...its gotten way to0 weak for me at any dose i believe if 3.5 barely touched me, certainly not as potent for me mg for mg nowadays...

not the strongest benzo, but one of my favorites due to it being a stronger anxiolytic, and a weaker hypnotic. Lets me stay up while feeling its effects.

I have a huge benzo tolerance. I have to take 2 or 3 xanax to feel it. How make Ativan would I have to take to come close? Would it feel anything like xanax or should I not even bother?

ativan is such a shitty benzo. It made me feel like I was flying when I took alot and smoked bud but then I just ended up passing out. I hate it

I think Ativan is better than taking nothing. For me 2mgs feels kind of like a low dose of Ambien but less potent. I could easily function during class and had a nice buzz for a few hours the one time i took it before school.
