Most women with chlamydia have no symptoms, and it's one of the most common std's. I think gonorrhea is symptomless quite often too. I have had a friend who got chlamydia while using a condom (really unlikely, but shit happens). By at least getting tested for curable std's you could prevent somebody's poor wife from infertility just because her husband was fucking around.

See that's what I am coming from. It's not the girlfriend or wifes fault the guy is fucking around. And not getting tested and being extremely nonchalant about what you may have isnt good, it's just money to you so who cares what happens, but for a guy who stupidly doesnt use a condom and then comes home and gives something to his unsuspecting wife... thats just shit. You might not care about the cheating husband, but for the wife who never did anything wrong and gets an STD, thats just wrong. Money to you but thats someones health and well being.

Seriously! It would be bad enough having a cheating partner, it would be about 100 times worse if the cheating partner gave me an STD.

I can't word my position on this strongly enough without breaking guidelines.

Yikes. I always had the impression that sex workers - escorts like xtcgrlatl rather than street walkers, obviously - were less likely to have std's because they are more meticulous about using protection and about getting tested regularly.

This is completely an individual thing. Most of us are meticulous about condoms, some escorts will let people buy out of it for a significantly higher price. Some escorts get tested regularly, some don't. That's the nature of the black market, people that make their money in the black market play by their own rules.

I find your attitude quite scary, actually.

Then consider yourself saved from misconceptions.

Most women with chlamydia have no symptoms, and it's one of the most common std's. I think gonorrhea is symptomless quite often too. I have had a friend who got chlamydia while using a condom (really unlikely, but shit happens).

Well if it makes you feel any better both of these can be treated by anti-biotics and I just came off a pretty potent anti-biotic cocktail for unrelated reasons.

By at least getting tested for curable std's you could prevent somebody's poor wife from infertility just because her husband was fucking around.

I can do that.

However, I think it's completely unfair to phrase it as though I am in any way responsible for what might happen to some guys wife(or more likely, the next escort he sees because his wife doesn't actually have sex with him).

You are responsible though... if you came up positive for something incurable and still worked as an escort, that DOES make you responsible.

, it's just money to you so

Just money is the difference between having food, and just starving. Having a place to live, or just being evicted. Having a nice comfortable life that you provide for yourself ,or just scraping by and begging for handouts every time anything goes a little south.

who cares what happens, but for a guy who stupidly doesnt use a condom

Whoa, foul ball. Everyone uses a condom with me. I never let people buy out.

and then comes home and gives something to his unsuspecting wife... thats just shit.

Once again, let's not pretend that I am the guilty party in this equation.

You might not care about the cheating husband

Actually you're mistaken. I *only* care about the husband and specifically his experience with me because that's where my professional responsibility lay.

Money to you but thats someones health and well being.

I imagine my health and well being would rapidly go on the decline if I were to stop having money, and believe me I've been on that edge more then once.

As it turns out I'm actually human and have needs to, and the society we live in dictates that to fulfill many of those needs you have to have just money.

But I haven't. So we're pointing fingers at nothing.

Its funny how people survive on mcdonalds wages and don't act ignorant about STD's, and this comfortable life you "provide for yourself" can put you, and others, in serious risk.

I guess you will need lots of money though when you catch an STD. What about HPV, which is rampant, and can be spread without a condom. What if you get cancer? Money won't be able to save you from cancer. Or HIV. Or from other infections that are incurable.

I actually want to applaud XtcgrlATL for being honest about her attitude to this. Hopefully it will give some people out there a big heads up if they do choose to see an escort.

It's the most helpful thing she has shared in the whole thread.

Thankyou.

Reading this thread reminded me of the Penn and Teller: Bullshit! episode on prostitution; they have an escort on there who's situation sounds very similar to yours xtcgrlatl. the risks are kinda high but it doesn't sound like that bad of a job considering you set your own hours, work from home, can be picky about clients, and probably actually enjoy your work from time to time as well. ;)

I like Penn & Teller, what was the point of their episode with the prostitute?

Oh, here it is: http://www.tv.com/penn-and-teller-bullsh!/prostitution/episode/695469/summary.html

Everyone knows that prostitution is practiced throughout the land. Where it is legal - in only a few Nevada counties, prostitution is vigorously regulated and monitored by the State of Nevada Health Department. The women submit to compulsory medical tests for STDs. No one is forced to work as a prostitute. Pimps don't exist. HIV has never been detected. The women earn regular paychecks and tips. Some even get vacation and sick days. And they pay taxes! It's BULLSHIT that it's illegal for two consenting adults to have sex with each other!

EXACTLY.

I've started writing responses and then deleted everything I've written over the last week because it keeps verging on being a personal attack over what is right and what is wrong.:\

I'll leave it at that. People are free to make their own choices and with choices come risks.

I think it's funny that some people have said that prostitutes probably have more chance of being clean because they are more careful??? Condoms are pretty good barriers but as we all know they are not infallible. Especially against HPV and Herpes. The number of partners is far higher and therefore the risk of exposure is far higher.

I'm not interested in just surviving. At any rate, Mcdonalds wages would probably barely cover my rent and I live in a cheap apartment.

Last year I was working for a company doing bug testing at like 10 bucks an hour (no taxes taken out because i was an "independent contractor") That means about 800 every two weeks, 1,600 a month. I could barely scrape by.

Doing some quick math I have about 1,105 dollars in bills I can't blow off. Then on top of that we have gas, 40 miles round trip every day, food, credit card bills. Basically my entire check eaten up just to make ends meet. If anything goes south, unexpected medical needs, car troubles, dog needs to go to the vet. Now all the sudden you're behind the game.

And that's with an OK job with no taxes taken out. So don't feed me some shit about people getting by on McDonalds wages, working 30 hours a week so Mickey D's doesnt have to offer them benefits and then having taxes taken out on top.

The only people getting by on McDonalds wages are the people that have another job, have many normal living expenses taken care of, sell drugs, or are sharing a lot of their expenses.

We can play the what-if game to death and it's completely pointless.

Though I will point out that if you can afford health insurance then you have a much better chances of surviving cancer or living a relatively normal life with HIV.

I liked that episode. It was pretty accurate. The business is what it is, it comes with risks and requires a certain amount of devil-may-care attitude but it has it's rewards. I am glad to have been pushed this way.

Have you ever gotten beat for your cash by a client? Not necessarily a physical beating (which im told comes with the job from time to time) but having a dude run out on the bill or suttin? In theory that'd totally give New meaning to the phrase "rail and bail".

No one has ever physically gotten aggressive with me. I've been stiffed like one time and gypped for a few bucks here and there a time or two.

I'm a decent looking guy, fit enough, and definitely more intelligent than about 98% of the world.

Still, I've never found anything but scams on craigslist. Maybe it's Minneapolis- but 99% of it is call girls trying to get you signed up.

88% of them aren't very pretty, and definitely not worth the multi-grand prices they're looking for.

It's very rare that there is anyone worth seeing on craigslist. If you look at sites that make us pay for our ads then you'll have better luck.

Obviously not intelligent, good looking, and well built enough to avoid having to resort to craigslist.... LOL, definitely in the top 98% of something- arrogance maybe?

My question for xtcgrl- Do you make the johns wear condoms during oral sex?

Didn't used to usually. But will probably start once I get back to work.
