Look, i don't have a lot to say on this.

I haven't rolled around in bed contemplating it.

Let's start with assuming intelligence is based on your intelligence quotient.

Someone with a high IQ could be over rotating on a quantum problem (IDK what quantum means). Or stuck trying to compare two unrelated entities.

Meanwhile someone with a low IQ is blankly staring at something orange, hoping to god it changes purple. It doesn't, so he moves on to fucking his dog without a second thought. It feels good. Yeah, man. Real good. Then he lays down and falls asleep in 5 minutes. No worries at all.

I do think those who can't find relation between a fence and a anchor to be more "intelligent" beings. Why? Because they are more present.

IMO, they tend to live more in the moment.

And that, IMO, is an art.

Edit: who's closer to enlightenment now?

Edit 2: not really talking about happiness/ignorance.

Well look, yeah, to be present can indeed be an art form. It can also be due to total lack of any thought at all though.
 
To be thoughtless and present is ok, of course. You can’t live a life like that though.
 
I don’t think intelligence and living in the moment are mutually exclusive.

I’d argue the person who’s just staring blankly and fucking their dog without a second thought are actually less present, both now and in future endeavors.. They’re disconnected and someone with more intelligence has the capacity to live more presently while still having just enough of their mind in the future to not completely fuck themselves.

At the end of the day, intelligence is a very hard thing to measure. I really like the quote “Everyone is a genius but If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s whole life believing it’s stupid.”

Everyone is intelligent in their own right.

Present for what, though?

He's surely more in tune with the basic level of needs.

I'd argue that thought beyond the basics is potentially detrimental to ones psyche.
 
nothing is ever truly thoughtless. Being present is about not identifying with those thoughts as they are not you this what buddha discovered when he went beyond thinking.

Intelligence is broad a dumb person with science logic could have very good social intelligence. Intelligence itself is the source of creation. The entire multiverse is the most intelligent thing in existence.
 
I think it's a bit of a caricature to suggest that uneducated and incurious people are just staring blankly. They often have complex ideas and internal conflict, although they may not know how to express them so that others can understand.

Some people do live more in the moment, but I don't think that's only a function of intelligence, however you define it. The difficult question from an individual's point of view looks more like, I would say, how lazy vs. industrious should you be?
 
Intelligence doesn't equal happiness. Otherwise in fact. Studies show it.
Religious people tend to be not that smart.
However they tend to be much happier than average people.
That's how it goes.
You know why kids are so happy? Because they don't fucking understand. And their parents shelter them from naughty information.
However, we adults.. We get more information than ever thanks to the internet.
And it's not doing good to our mental health.
Depression in youth is higher than ever. Good shit.

What types of people do you think are more likely to not connect with their thoughts? People who have less introspection?

Yeah, well your post is named are the dumb people most smartest but it ends up making the conclusion that dumb people are happiest.
I just gave my 2 cents on this subject.
 
mindfulness meditation is about detaching from identification with thoughts and all sense data and just been total awareness of what arises and passes. Some people are born a certain way that they in theory are more likely to progress faster through states of meditation and not be caught up in the stream of thoughts and everything else. Enlightement itself is about becoming the true natural mind everything becomes automatic after it a force of nature suffering is gone since "you" no longer exist in that form pretty much but are now the entire universe.\

I don't a certain type of person is really not inclined to connect with their thoughts but those who are already bought up in eastern philopshy and meditating since a young age would be alot further ahead than the western world.
 
"That's hot" coined by the original "dumb" social media icon, is a start. But I haven't even watched her documentary yet. I'm not even a true fan. I don't have to be to understand. That's the true beauty of it all.
