anyone wanna talk soccer/football?

Ow c'mon, I think it's wishful thinking that Australia will come in second, Croatia or Japan are way better. And even if they advanced, their next game will probably be against Italy or Chzech R. from group E, no chance at all.

Group C is shit. Holland is gonna have a hard time there. And as always, Germany has one of the easiest groups, fuckers..

Group C is interesting...

Ivory Coast have Didier Drogba... the absolute scoring MACHINE that Chelsea base their attack around. There is usually one African team that does something special and gets out of the group stages, and it could be Ivory Coast, although what with Argentina and the Netherlands in that group, it would be a stunning achievement!!

It may be slightly wishful thinking for Australia to aim for second, but we have a super coach and basically the entire squad playing in Europe. Japan traditionally don't play well in Europe - none of their players (well maybe a couple... not 100% sure) play in Europe, and this time now that they don't have home advantage, I think they will struggle.

Australia vs. Croatia is going to be a very very interesting match. There are 3 players who were born and raised in Australia in the Croatian team, and there are 7 players in the Australian team who are Australian of Croatian descent. What has happened a lot in the past is that because we always sucked at trying to get into the world cup, most people who could take the option to play for another country, went and did so. It will be really interesting to watch if nothing else...

CB :)

I'd be very interested in other people's opinions (other as in people not from Australia) on whether Australia can realistically come in second in Group F. In the media over here at the moment you'd think we were a certainty, and there was an SMS phone poll on TV the other day in which 80% of people thought we'd get through to the final 16. Personally I think it's a bit of a toss up for the second place spot, because it's the world cup and there's more at play than simply who's the better team.

By the way, our TAB Sportsbet has Australia and Croatia priced equal at $61 to win the entire tournament, and Japan is priced at $201!

Pleo: I think Japan could well struggle in European conditions. Croatia will probably be a threat, though I'm not overly familiar with their current team. Your best chance, I think, is if you get draws against the other teams, and go through on goal difference (in terms of who lost by fewer goals to Brazil). OR, if you play Brazil last, they've already qualified, they rest their first team and play for a relaxed draw.

^^

We play Japan first, Brazil second and Croatia third...

SO we have to smash Japan, hope for something miraculous against Brazil, then hold out Croatia... it will be nothing if not interesting :)

CB :)

It would come down to the Croatia vs Australia game I reckon... hard to call that, Aus have some pretty good players. But then again Croatia have Dado Prso!

Come on the gers!

I will be going for Australia (naturally) and Brazil (because I love their offensive game) but putting my tip on France to win it overall.

Since getting cable tv and FIFA for my gamecube last year I have been getting right into any ssoccer games whenever they are shown on tv.

Really hoping my guys Arsenal can pull it together and walk away with the Champions League title :)

I don't care who wins either way. One the one hand I'll be cheering for van Bommel, Gio and Rijkaard, on the other hand I'll be cheering for van Persie and Bergkamp. They both still have to play a match though, anything can happen when you have to play against villa real and ac milan.

I'm praying for Barca to win. Partly because I love their football anyway, and partly because I truly hate Arsenal (and I will never hear the end of it from my Arse supporting mates).

How so? Anyways, the return match is about to start, against villa real. My predictions are 2-1 for arsenal.

Arsenal gonna get raped by Barca so it didnt matter anyway

LOL. AC milan against Barcelona is about to start. Gonna be one helluvamatch.

i played soccer for 8 years

people (in the USA) do not understand what extreme athletecism is required for that sport. it owns basketball, and you can be an 80 year old woman and still be good at baseball so thats right out. itd be more extreme than hockey if hockey werent such a contact sport. but seriously the shape ur body has to be in to be good at soccer, let alone great, is hardly fathomable my most American sports fans.

i play futbol just for fun as a goalkeeper im from argentina so futbol is really popular here and i support River Plate team , oh and i hate maradona

Pardon the double-post . . .

. . . but I thought that all of you true football fans deserved to reminisce along with me . . .

I hope that some of you were as fortunate as I was, and that you, too, had the opportunity to witness the Greatest Athlete In The History Of Sports stand atop a podium at Giants Stadium after his farewell game between the New York Cosmos and Santos of Brasil, nearly three decades ago . . .

. . . and after the game ended, and after this beautiful man flung his sweat-soaked jersey into the stands . . .

. . . and after the standing ovation finally died down to a level so that his voice could finally be heard . . .

. . . this King Of The Sports Universe seized this opportunity . . .

. . . to speak in front of a captive audience of approximately a BILLION people worldwide who worshipped him . . .

. . . and, instead of giving a speech about himself or about soccer . . .

. . . this beautiful man . . .

. . . respectfully requested that each and every one of the 80,000 or so fans in attendance stand and raise two fingers signifying the international sign for peace . . .

. . . and then . . .

. . . with tears streaming down his face . . .

. . . in broken English . . .

. . . asked these Pele-worshippers to . . .

"REPEAT AFTER ME . . .

. . . LOVE . . .

. . . LOVE . . .

. . . LOVE . . . "

I love football, all you lott are on about the big leauges, but for me there's nothing better than watch my local team have a good game on some shitty council estate then go to the pub and get smashed.

Of course you see better football in the premiership but there's nothing better than watching people you know in a cup final then walking home with them.

I do also play for Ruabon Villa F.C, we're gunna take the leauge next season mate i tell ya

WREXHAM FC

At the start of the 2005/2006 season Wrexham have approximately 53 banning orders from The Racecourse and the town centre on match day. The club also topped League Two’s table for the most arrests and banning orders.
