Anyone else had a codeine addiction?

No, don't worry, your post about there being a megathread made me realise we don't really have one! I'm going to keep your thread here open unless it goes tits up but I am in no way intending to close it! I see merit in both your addiction thread as well as in the other more generalised thread.

So two birds with one stone! You get the addiction thread and the rest of us can use the megathread. <3

ive been addicted to almost every opiod going and, i can tell you, codeine withdrawals hurt. i find they have almost all the pysical symptoms of smack wd's except the emotional rollercoaster (the massive depression, anger, sobbing etc.)
regardless the op's on bupe now and at quite a high dose, which was a mistake in my humble opinion, so slow tapering is the way to go now.
try dropping your dose by a couple of mgs straight away and see how badly that fucks you up (it very probably wont), and adjust till youre comfortable. then slooow tapering. cold turkey after youve been at 0.2 mg for a few weeks and with the help of some loperimide and the occasional benzo, you shouldnt find it too distressing.
thats my advice; still think about smack every day tho. youll feel a lot more alive generally tho. music will sound better, youll be able to think more clearly etc. at least in my case anyway. best of luck to you
 
Thanks snolly n smacky. Ive got got 4 mg to take today decided that ill split on Sundays. I get my bupe on Mondays n if we get snow I'm stuffed. If I take the 4mg later on it'll be better if I can't get my script. I am worrying about the snow.
 
Yeah i always just thought all Opiate WD's were pretty much the same no matter what strengh the opiate is, if you do enough codiene to get into Full blown WD's then your fucked basically. I guess the problem with heroin is the fact it just takes all your pain away so you got the mental side to deal with. Codeine cant do that
 
I disagree. Codeine took my pain away both physically n psychologically. It's the reason I got addicted to it. Besides codeine is a painkiller it is for that purpose. I had a huge L5/S1 (identified by MRI n could hardly walk n codeine sorted that.

Walking is my life, my world is my new relaxation, walking is when I'm most alive. It's therapeutic n does something to me that I can't explain. I love walking n codeine gave that back to me. How can you say codeine does not take pain away? That's like saying water doesn't get you wet. No offence.
 
I meen the point of nothingness where you are just nodding out in complete bliss and nothing matters, i could catch nods on codeine if i had some strong ganja. Nowadays i just get the energy side to the drug and fuzzyness
 
It's the stimmy qualities that I enjoy most about codeine. Just makes me want to talk shit to anyone who will listen.

Awh sorry to hear that. There 's a thread on valium withdrawal in OD if you wanted support from others going through the same thing.

I just feel tired all the time as late. I go to bed for hours in the day n I never used to do that before. Sometimes if I'm sitting especially on the bus I'll start falling asleep n can't stop it sometimes i'll be reading a paragraph n will start nodding off n I'll be reading the same sentence over n over again like a few hours later but wont have the damned energy to move.
 
Im the opposite getting sleep is my problem lol, id rather be tired all the time then sleep deprived and looking like the walking dead. :D

I even told my bro to give me the pills, got a splitting headache after last night. And obviously once again i want to get high Story of my life, i am just gonna go back to drugs counseling i really need counseling for my social anxiety as well. Need to sort myself out big time this year
 
That's a good idea to help you get to the bottom of why you use n of your anxiety. Do they give you anything for that like antidepressants or just benzos? I'm on citralopram. I was put onto Mirtazapine for awhile but ended up feeling extremely angry n irritable n was nodding off all the time so I put myself back on citralopram. Although I'm thinking of stopping it altogether asI'm trying to weight. I had to take the Mirtazapine at night as it's very sedating. I'm keeping some for when I come off bupe.
 
Nah they give you SSRI's nowadays, you would be hard pressed to find a doctor that would give you more then a week script of benzo's you only really get them if you are an addict, the doctor wanted to put me on Zoloft when im off Valium. Im not sure i wanna be on an SSRI id rather get therapy.
 
I have been on SSRI for over a year now. I'm the biggest hypocrite going because I used to lecture people on using antidepressants as there are no proper blood tests n no factual evidence to imply tvat a lack of serotonin is the cause of depression n that when people feel better it may actually be due to the placebo affect - they want to be better so much that they believe the meds are working.
There was a test years ago with ADHD patients. Half were giving Ritalin, which apparently is like speed (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) but works the opposite way for ADHD. The half who were giving a placebo reported back improvements of their ADHD symptoms.

I'm interested in hearing how slowly tolerance happened to people addicted to codeine. For me, the tolerance was very slow. I started taking DHC, 60 mg 3 x a day at 14, and it wasn't until around 2 years that I noticed that dose wasn't even enough to stop me getting sick. Gradually, my tolerance rose to pretty crazy levels.

Btw I'm also on SSRI's for six years now, and have noticed no kind of depression (not like before I was taking them.)

Codiene is a big constituent of poppy tea, and poppy tea fucked my receptors completely. I now must take 800mg of Codeine to get a bit warm, and 1g-1.2g to actually get high, I used to gouch off 200mg. This is over the course of a few years, but the poppy tea has been the last 2 years or so.
 
I've never tried poppy tea (are you using pods btw or unwashed seed?). I was briefly considering growing opium poppy as it's legal to do so in the UK, but that proved un-workable- you need to grow a hell of a lot of poppy to get a decent yield. Also, a big constituent of poppy tea is morphine as well as codeine, so I reckon that could be what fucked your receptors tolerance-wise, SproutOnSmack.

When I noticed I needed more dhc than I could source, I ended up using large amounts of codeine linctus, Gees linctus, and J Collis Browne mix; that's when my tolerance really reached crazy levels. In the end, the milder opiates just weren't enough, (I was using ridiculous amounts) so I did eventually progress to morphine, then heroin.

Edit: Evelebibe, how much bupe do you take daily, and how long have you been on it?
