Benzos Any legal medicine for anxiety?

Mulungu might work as well, don't dose too high though or it will knock you down.

Valerian I've heard some good things about.

Be aware that many of these are theorized to work on GABA, so if you have a benzodiazepine tolerance their effects may be diminished.

just come in to mention the mulungu extract.

here's a thread i started in the aussie forum with a few peoples experiences and some general info and studies on it.

Honokiol & Mulungu extract

As a new user of Kratom, I am realizing that I can go from totally stressed and anxious to completely chill. It even gives me a nice little confidence boost. It isn't as good as kava and valerian for sleep, but it does relax you.

Honestly, if you want to break down the most practical options:

Prescription: Gabapentin (Neurontin) or (preferably) Lyrica (pregabalin)

Non-prescription: Kratom (as others have said, use sparingly because being addicted to it SUCKS) and Phenibut (works if you use it at moderate dosages, one week on and one week off).

5-HTP might also balance your mood out, that's available in capsules OTC at Wal Mart and other pharmacy stores (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.)

There are no other OTC legal OTC remedies for anxiety specifically. If there were, I woulda been all over those years ago. Kava kava and Valerian root are better suited for sleep, as is diphenhydramine (Benedryl).

^ Yeah fresh root powder is the way to go, the standardized extracts don't really do much in my experience.

Interesting someone mentioned Kanna, I have never experienced any of the effects they mentioned from trying it a few times.

I have the smae problem man and am currently doing a valium taper so I feel like im gonna jump out of my skin. Im glad im getting off benzos if it is common to build a tolerance to them, i kept telling my doctor that I just wanted to stay on them cause i couldnt take the withdrawal but it looks like he is right that they will hurt me in the long run. Im on kratom right now and it is making me feel shitty cause of my benzo withdrawal. Kava is decent, valerian makes me feel shitty but it makes me tired. Anyone know any good ways to get kava? I used to try the root powder but I think it started my colitis... To this day wont touch it. Any predone kava drinks? Also OP im taking california poppy which kinda chills me out when my withdrawals arent bad. If kratom wasnt addictive though id say take it everyday, but it is almost narcotic and you will also build a tolerance. Have you tried lyrica instead of benzos? Lyrica is helping my taper a bit, it is addictive as well but the withdrawal doesnt last as long as benzos so you can at least have hope that by next month you'll be ok rather than worrying you are gonna feel like hell for a year. But yea kava is your best bet, I wish i knew of some premade kava drinks/

Any idea how long the Lyrica withdrawal symptoms last? I'm just two pills away from experiencing it and would love to know what it is I'm in for....

thanks!<3

I know anxiety disorders are real but I believe most people just use it as there justification to take drugs. Anxiety is a natural part of human life, you could always just deal with it if what you really want is long term improvement.

Most people use it as a justification to take drugs? That's quite the generalization you've made there.

You are correct in saying that anxiety is a natural part of human life, but when anxiety becomes an invasive hinderance to normal, natural life then it is a problem. That's the difference between anxiety in the useful sense (i.e. you're anxious about your exam so you study hard) and anxiety that interferes with your daily life (i.e. I'm not going to work today because I feel like my stomach is in knots and I'm going between crying and rocking slowly on the floor in the fetal position.).

An anxiety disorder is not just a person's inability to deal with everyday anxiety. It's a-typical anxiety that has taken control of a person. Simply "dealing with it" isn't a realistic option for most people.

I've done valerian root and kava kava for insomnia/anxiety and both work pretty well, but the dreams are crazy. You sleep well, but get ready for some vivid dreams!

traditional kava kava (a few shots) is GREAT but the problem is after a few goes the effects are greatly reduced. I find that exercising hard at least once a day helps a lot; cool dark and quiet rooms essential. Personally if my sleeping area is not cold I can't sleep worth a damn and I also am addicted to using fans for the white noise it makes. It just puts me out. My habit is so bad I spent 280$ dollars all in one go.... on the dyson air multiplier. No more buffeting.

Hey in your post I was unsure of whether or not you had already conquered your benzo troubles. I like many on here have severe anxiety, and have found that most OTC "Remedies" generally exacerbate my anxiety which is reinforced by the potential for negative physical effects from these substances. I speak only from personal experience here. It's my own feeling that the only OTC cure for anxiety is alcohol, and in the spirit of harm reduction would never recommend it as ongoing treatment. Explore the subtleties of each of these though and you may find one that suits you. GOOD LUCK :)

Like everyone else has said; Valerian root(its what Valium comes from) and Kava Kava (Make sure it has a high Kalvactone level). For help sleeping Try 5-HTP and Melatonin. Oh I also forgot... Kratom works very well also.

"Have you tried lyrica instead of benzos? Lyrica is helping my taper a bit, it is addictive as well but the withdrawal doesnt last as long as benzos so you can at least have hope that by next month you'll be ok rather than worrying you are gonna feel like hell for a year."

What also works well is Requip and Mirapex which is used for Restless leg Syndrome. Kinda the same effect as Lyrica. It Brings up Dopamine Levels to make you feel better.

30% Kavalactone capsules it's what I take. There were 84% capsules going around but they're gone now. Also passion flower, valerian, damiana, mulungu, lions tail work pretty good.

Don't forget the phenazepam option, a legal way of obtaining 1000 doses of a subjectively decent benzo running at< 1 p per dose.legal (for now), cheap and effective.

Though not over the counter many online pharmacies have Soma, Meprobamate, Phenobarbital, Gabbatin (sp??) and Tramadol (not a traditional opioid).

OTC shit is useless and believe me I've had it all! Maybe Valerian instead of a strong cup of tea but thats about it. If Kava is still legal where you leave avoid it b/c it fucks up ur liver to the point of hepatitis and the high i had from it wasn't close to a high much less worth the health effects.
