Anti-anxiety drugs

Hey if i was going that route i would probably be on here spewing the same jargon as you.

I wish you best of luck but its irresponsible to be promoting ideas that taking a benzo daily for an extended period is ok. Cause its not.

You can taper as slow as you like. Your still gonna take like a year to ever get back to feeling your normal anxious self which sucks in itself.

My significant other has been taking Xanax daily for over 4 years and it's significantly improved her quality of life. I wouldn't call that irresponsible.

You lot might want to do a little more research and see what kind of hell you're in for
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/71

I've read testimonials for over a year and 100% of people at one point in time no longer desire to be on a benzo due to increasing negative affects and they all go through hell because they chose to delay the problem and over use a benzo.

well, from the way you speak i can tell you are so well educated on the subject of benzodiazepines, and their therapeutic use, so i will not bother to dignify your views on this matter with any further response.

but seen as we are in the "other drugs" forum... what other drugs do you take, may i ask, or did you just come here to preach?

p.s. don't quote yourself, that just silly

So is when people are unable to take the meaning from a few sentences of my post. 8)

^^Quite irrelevant but any who i used to partake in the distribution of X when i was a resident in Ireland. I now rarely smoke weed but used to take ambien every now and then.

But to be honest with you if alls the research you've done about benzos is consulting people here then you need to actually find out what you're doing to yourself dude.

I have a feeling 100% isn't quite accurate.

Maybe somebody has lived out their days on a benzo due to a premature death.

As most here i felt the same way when i was considering a benzo for anxiety. I told myself 'yea this is the stuff i can use to make all my problems go away for the rest of my life'. Bullshit.

Limiting your intake of a fast acting benzo to twice a week will ensure you can use it for a long time granted you don't build a heavy tolerance to it. Even a longer acting benzo like k-pin should only be administered for a set amount of months.

I would never want to be dependent on this shit.

well here's my testemonial, i've been using benzos for over six months now, they have greatly helped me with insomnia, and anxiety issue that i've been having, i have reduced my dose to half of what i am prescribed, and continue doing so, bit by bit, and have a taper plan in place... allthough i think i will continue using xanax at 1.5mg and drop the lormetazepam completely...
i guess thats 99% now :p

maybe if you didn't come across as so self-righteous and preachy , your message would be more welcome... but from the way you put it, all i want to say is **** off you pretentious git.

if i had a legit and 100% steady supply of benzos, hell i'd take 'em.

But if there is the remote chance of being cut off and WD'ing? No!

6 months isn't that long of a time. Of course you're going to find them very beneficial.

But for people who keep bashing their system with a tranquilizer for years you have to be an idiot to think you're going to slowly taper and be bright and peachy in no time. You won't be right for years.

Just think about it. Quiting heroin is a nasty nasty feeling. But after awhile the person can get back to normal cause in a regular case the person doesn't have anxiety ( yes i know some do). When being dependent on a benzo you are using it because you naturally feel CRAP. So when you stop it your world is going to become hell and possibly make your anxiety worse! Anxiety is degenerative.

Anxiety is a nasty thing. I know first hand. Even if you're anxiety was so bad you couldn't leave the house the longest i would stay on one is like a year then quit and deal with the wrath you're in for. Then go back and keep cycling or something. But if you're not that bad don't take them daily my friend. ;)

Correction. You know what isn't showing problems at this point in time.

You nor i have any idea how we will react to things down the road.

For one you're taking a benzo daily which you should never do (no matter your reason for doing so, its wrong). Unfortunately a lot of people get pigeon holed into doing so. Say what you like but when the time comes to get off that benzo (and yes my friend, that time will come) you can only hope to delay the nightmare of years of use by bouncing around on other benzos.

On top of this you expect to smoke weed for the rest of your life? LMAO My friend your in for a rough time.

I require a benzo aswell but wasn't foolish enough to take it daily cause its not a cure. If i was weaker i might tell myself that.

You and marijuana use? 'Drop it like its hot' will soon be your motto.

where did you get your medical degree? i listen to my doctor who i'm 100% sure knows more than you, and many people take benzos daily and even more smoke marijuana daily.

and you think people are weak for taking benzos daily? i dont think it's a cure, but it allows me to function a normal life. and for me that is good enough. and i will smoke cannabis for the rest of my life, i know many people who've smoked for 30+ years. everybody reacts differently to drugs. you seem to forget that.

Sounds like you don't want to face reality yet. But its barreling around the corner more then ready to meet you my friend. You're also very foolish to take what your doctor says as law. Ever heard of Malpractice? I suggest you crack a book or two.

i've seen 6 psychopharmocologists in my life and all have the same, or similar opinions about me. what is your medical background again? 8)

^^ haha i hear you, it just REALLY pisses me off when some greenligher moron tries to think he knows everything and how all drugs react to every individual, but you're right, the best thing to do is simply ignore them.

+1 for your post, very good advice.

Please take the personal discussions about posters to PMs. Let's try and stay on the topic of Anti-Anxiety medications. It's not against the rules to disagree with people.

Malpractice may sound like a big word to you but claiming my post as heresy won't make it any less true.

Show me reputable sources of clinical trials where marijuana has had any good affect on anxiety? If its true in your case no doubt these results exist.

Heres my proof published from a Clinical Psychopharmacology Seminar (Notice how i have proof and don't just say things like '"yea well my dad said this is good for me" ) when i'm wrong.

http://www.tu.edu/user_files/10/30.html

"Low to Moderate Doses. At low to moderate doses, 5 mg of THC or less, the user may experience CNS and behavioral effects such as disinhibition, garrulousness, relaxation, drowsiness, feeling of well-being, euphoria, distortions of the perception of time, body image, and distance, increased auditory and visual acuity, enhanced tactile, olfactory, kinesthetic, and gustatory senses, spontaneous laughter, impairment of recent memory, mild confusion, decreased concentration, decreased muscle strength and balance, impaired ability to perform complex motor tasks, fearfulness, anxiety, and panic or even mild paranoia (Cox et al 1983)."

"High Doses. At high doses, 10-30 mg THC or more, intensification of the low-dose effects may occur as well as any of the following: synesthesias, pseudo-hallucinations, impaired judgment, slowed reaction time, confusion, impaired performance of simple motor tasks, depersonalization, pronounced paranoia, agitation, extreme panic, and even true hallucinations (Cox et al 1983). "

^^Also check out how damaging it is to your body. Strange nothing here seems to lead us to believe it helps anxiety. pwnt. =D

^ i never said my dad said it was good, i said MY DOCTORS, M.D.'s. , three of whom, knowing i have anxiety problems PRESCRIBED ME MARINOL 10mg, 2-3x a day. Everyone reacts differently and i dont have to find studies to prove shit to you because i could care less what you say, end of story, this is the last response you'll ever get from me. but your post has some interesting facts....

At low to moderate doses, 5 mg of THC or less, the user may experience CNS and behavioral effects such as disinhibition, garrulousness, relaxation, drowsiness, feeling of well-being, euphoria,

and about the higher doses i'm assuming thats for people with no experience or tolerance to cannabis. i always get relaxed, because i know what i'm smoking (organic indica dominant strains).
and i got relaxed when i was taking 20-30mg a day of marinol (THC in seasame oil). And my dad doesn't prescribe me medications, M.D.'s do... the first of whom went to Harvard Medical School...

and also your source is from 1983 LOL....

peace out hater. tonights joint i'm burning for you.
