First of all, he was mocking my claim that animal testing could potentially cure any disease. You even admit my original assertion was correct. You crudely psychoanalyse my response in some self-indulgent attempt to degrade my position. He had a problem with what I said so I tried to get an example from him.
I'm still waiting for the rationale behind spacejunk's position. Perhaps he is the one that feels threatened and that it why I haven't been given it yet.
I don't have to prove you wrong; the whole point of backing up your argument is that the onus is on
you to prove your claims.
Mocking you?
Man, for someone that questions - in excessively vulgar terms - my masculinity (for being my political beliefs, for caring about animal welfare, and for my choice to live on a diet mostly free of animal products) along with torrents of abuse, childish name-calling and aggressive macho value judgements, it is pretty rich - and immature - to play the victim here.
I
mocked you? Oh dear. Is the word "hypocrite" in your vocabulary?
I
disagreed with you. I disagree with the tactic of argument that follows a line like -
'Animal welfare is of no concern because
all (the word you used) human diseases might be cured by doing tests on them'
Humans have been doing scientific tests on animals for centuries - and guess what: we will
never cure all "disease".
It's a laughable premise, and absolutely impossible to even consider possible.
Bacteria and viruses are as much a part of any ecosystem as plants and mammals are.
It's a flawed, and frankly absurd justification for having a prejudiced outlook on the issue of animal welfare.
If you're blaming your defamatory, infantile posts on my failure to respond to your
abuse - I explained to you that I don't waste my time on damn fools like yourself. But there - happy?
You can eat plants until your shits turn green but the truth is, they taste like ass. I'll look into the plant amino acid thing but in my experience, vegans have always had waif-like bodies unless they are pounding whey protein shakes on steroids. That is how some of my comments were inspired.
Again, back to the sorts of generalisations and ignorant stereotypes that make absolutely clear that
a) your experience is very limited if you think "vegans have always had waif-like bodies" - you're taking the piss, surely?
b) you know not what you are talking about - or to whom (when did I say I was a vegan?)
c) you are an incredibly ignorant, judgemental, shallow person.
I am comfortable enough with my own sexuality, lifestyle, health, physical strength - and while we're on the topic, my body in general, now that you so graciously mentioned it - to have to resort to discussing it with random angry carnies (that's vego slang for meat eaters, geddit?).
The fact that you get
so worked up about people that are different to you (and how they live and think) demonstrates a massive chip on your shoulder. I'm not going to speculate what it is; but you're acting like a very threatened...well, animal.
P.S. We are omnivores and have been eating meat since the dawn of man. So yes, our stomachs absolutely are made for meat, regardless of whether or not it is possible to survive without it.
Demonstrating once more that you have no idea what you are on about.
Let's take a really fucking simple example from nature and see if you can follow.
Ever looked at a dog's teeth? Dogs are omnivores (unlike cats, who are almost exclusively carnivorous, and have a mouth full of incisors - for eating
meat). Dogs have similar similar sharp, pointy teeth.
This is for piercing and ripping flesh.
A hippopotamus has a lot of round, flat teeth; much like human molars.
Hippos are herbivores.
Like humans, they can be dangerous as hell - and they are strong, enormous and live solely on plant matter.
I'm no dental expert (I don't claim to know absolutely everything in order to back up my opinions) but it seems to me that the majority of human teeth resemble those of plant eating species.
We have canines - which resemble most closely a carnivorous animal's teeth.
Hippos have canines too - they are used to tear food, whereas molars crush and grind food.
Cats don't have anything resembling teeth like this. Nor do dogs; which are omnivores.
It is just one simple illustration of how the world - and mankind's place in it - consists of many different shades of colour and variation.
A world of black-and-white, of certainties and set definitions, rules and absolutely no diversity - sounds incredibly bleak, dull - and frankly - quite false, bordering on delusional.
There is no template for human behaviour, thought or expression; any such rules are just dogma.
Notice how I put my point across here without vitriolic hate-speech?
I don't care what people think - I'm enlightened enough to know that we all think differently. I'm happy to be disagreed with, as it can make for interesting discussion
The "discussion" this thread degenerated into is not useful, interesting, intelligent or brave.
You repeatedly call me a coward - from behind your keyboard.
That's funny and ironic - sure - but embarrassing, and not at all what this discussion board is about. But you've been told that already - multiple times.
I could go on to talk about the hormones, antibiotics and other chemicals that go into the animals slaughtered and sold for their meat - and how they
contribute to the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria, as well as affecting the people who eat this meat.
Or i could direct you to the studies demonstrating an increased risk of bowel cancer, the more meat a person consumes.
Or the other disease epidemics caused by meat consumption - be it from African "bush meat" reportedly leading to infection and spread of Marburg or Ebola viruses - or intensive farming practices reportedly causing "swine flu", "bird flu", "SARS", and what have you.
But I'm no biologist or infectious disease expert. I don't pretend to be.
What I will point out is that your insipid rants about human dietary needs brings us closer to the
cause of so many human illnesses - which was what the discussion was about (somewhat - it was originally about
addiction and animal experiments - among other things) before you took it off topic then carried it off-topic even further with your personal attacks and bitching about being "mocked".
The diet of most meat eaters is higher in fat than - say, mine (as you are so fixated upon attacking what you assume I eat).
Obesity, heart disease and a range of other "first world" morbidities can be avoided by eating less fat. A simple way to do this is to eat less (particularly
red) meat
So if you are really so concerned about disease in humans, i would recommend having more of an open mind when it comes to diet. And human treatment of animals, for that matter.
I think it was more of an exercise in ego and bigotry though, personally.
I don't expect you to improve your approach to online discussion.
I don't expect you to be in any way humble or apologetic - and I certainly don't expect to engage with you on this forum again - though I expect your time here will be limited, as absolute dickheads are not tolerated on bluelight.
Welcome to my ignore list, asshole.
