I just read an article saying that the people in the voodoo community and whatnot are really pissed because American Horror Story apparently changed a lot about Papa Legba. He's not supposed to be a coke snorting demon who wants baby souls at all.

Well no, he doesn't want baby souls. and he's a gatekeeper, he lets you in/spirits out. but voodoo comes with a price, which most other hollywood portrayals decline to mention. you just don't get to live forever without some sacrifice. and as for DOC - rum?

AHS completely fucked Papa Legba. They made him appear as one of the most well known Loa in voodoo, Baron Samedi.

Legba:

In Haiti, he is the great elocution, the voice of God, as it were. Legba facilitates communication, speech and understanding.

He usually appears as an old man on a crutch or with a cane, wearing a broad brimmed straw hat and smoking a pipe, or sprinkling water. The dog is sacred to him. Because of his position as "gate-keeper" between the worlds of the living and the mysteries he is often identified with Saint Peter who holds a comparable position in Catholic tradition

In Benin and Nigeria, Legba is viewed as young and virile, is often horned and phallic, and his shrine is usually located at the gate of the village in the countryside.

Samedi:

He is usually depicted with a top hat, black tuxedo (dinner jacket), dark glasses, and cotton plugs in the nostrils, as if to resemble a corpse dressed and prepared for burial in the Haitian style. He has a white, frequently skull-like face (or actually has a skull for a face) and speaks in a nasal voice.

He is noted for disruption, obscenity, debauchery, and having a particular fondness for tobacco and rum. Additionally, he is the Loa of resurrection, and in the latter capacity he is often called upon for healing by those near or approaching death, as it is only Baron who can accept an individual into the realm of the dead

God, that butler is one creepy fucker. I love Dennis O'hare though. First saw him in True Blood and was stoked to see him in the first season of AHS.

It was a pretty lackluster episode. They definitely rushed to end a lot of side stories.

Agreed. I don't know what about this season, but with all the others I couldn't wait to watch the next episode. It was the first thing I watched. But with this season, I'm just not feeling it as much, and aren't as interested in the storyline as I was before.. like the stakes don't feel as high and theres not as much shocking me. I still love it, of course.. but I'm just not feeling that sense of urgency this season.

Yeah it started off promising, but never really delivered. There's only 2 episodes left and it seems like it's going to have a very abrupt ending, compared to the long winded one of Asylum.

Yeah for real. I was interested in the beginning.. but it just seemed to never get off the ground. I feel like I've been waiting for shit to happen and it just never did, certainly not like in the first two seasons.

I fucking hate the campy ending

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but the ending was a homage to the Graduate's last scene. Notice how the happy running couple gets a little serious right before the credits roll:
