So would you agree that benzodiazepines don't produce euphoria, and that most people are mislabeling anxiolysis as euphoria, or is this just my theory?
in response to the earlier labelling of benzos producing euphoria - i just mean that if all of a sudden word got out that benzodiazepenes now also had the potential to produce high levels of euphoria in people (as temazepam did when the jellies were around, in the UK at least) it would lead to them being more controlled in terms of prescriptions as what happened to temazepam. it's incredibly hard to get a temazepam script nowadays and many psychiatrists hesitate to do so and instead give out nitrazepam and the z-drugs now.
but in response to your theory perhaps its correct. i guess the only time i've abused benzos is when i'm anxious or nervous about something, i guess that could (in my opinion) count as euphoric as i was wound up and agitated thus transitioning into a calm and worry-free place in my mind.
however like i said earlier, if i had any flunitrazepam i wouldn't hesitate for a second to take it now. or at any given moment regardless of anxiety or not. something about that benzo just doesn't add up for me, it was so euphoric it made opiates look lame (for me anyway). essentially if i had a choice between that or any opiate of my choice, i'd straight away take the flunitrazepam. unfortunately i only had 20 tablets or so of it, but they were all gone within a week.
i also really like valium. it's just soothing and peaceful. i think it also has something to do with the muscle relaxing effects of it - along with nitrazepam which i also find soothing and relaxing. everything just seems to flow more gently when i take it, i don't nod off, but i just.... go to that happy place i'm in like with opiates. not the skin tingling or mentality state, but that general feeling of relaxation... a deep relaxation and sense of wellbeing
i know that for me xanax used to get me high. i would put it under my tounge and feel euphoric effects similar to opiates, but now its no longer the case. i use it to comedown mostly now from drugs I've been taking or when I'm desperate and just want to knock my lights out.
