Benzos Am I the ONLY one who thinks benzos produce mild euphoria?/ opiate like effects

i don't feel any euphoria now from short acting benzos taken sporadically. it's calming but it's like a bandaid for a gaping wound. just kind of depressing, even if it helps me to think about why it is. i really only like clonozapam taken regularly to treat GAD. BUT the first time i had xanax i was overwhelmed by the experience and immediately wanted to take more. i was young and stupid, didn't have the same issues, and didn't have any respect for meds. anyway, i think it just depends on how much being calm gets your rocks off. i actually need it to keep an even keel, but i understand it's more normal to only take them at certain times during certain events etc. and not on a daily set schedule.

Speaking in terms of euphoria only, These new generic etizolams pretty much produce as much euphoria as any benzo ive tried. Them and Xanax.

If i take enough i get relaxed to the point where you could call it semi euphoric.

Clinically speaking, there's no such thing as semi-euphoria, it either is or it isn't. I can totally understand the relaxation, but a lot of people seem to be confusing anxiolysis with euphoria. Two distinctly different things.

Maybe people who report euphoria from benzodiazepines aren't used to truly euphoric drugs like opioids and methamphetamines... I'm not sure.

benzos were always kind of boring to me. i take them and just feel really chilled out/tired. sometimes, if i'm stressed out, it feels alright, like a little weight was just lifted off my shoulders. other times i take them and just feel like sleeping, kinda depressed i guess.

^Yeah. They are very good tools, they aren't toys. Unfortunately there are a some people that try to force effects out of benzodiazepines that just aren't there, by taking ever-escalating doses... and they end up fucked.

They both produce a muscle relaxation body high but opiates are much more euphoric.

Let me put it like this, the best euphoria youre ever gonna get off a benzo (on a scale of 1-10) would be around a 2, whereas the best euphoria possible with an opiate would be a 10.

Its definately not 2...with benzos...id say up to 6-7...if differs with everyone i guess.
But sometimes with no tolerance when u take even a low dose of a nice benzo that peaceful relaxed feeling you get, with no worries or anxiety can be so euphoric in itself...

Diazepam was the only benzo to give any kind of euphoria and. I could barely call it euphoria and had to take high doses.
I think people mistake the contentness benzos give with euphoria.
The 'ahhh this is nice' feeling.
Other than that I don't find benzos that inticing unless I want sleep, coming down of stims or just overly stressed.

My two cents.

I feel that Anti anxiety medications provide Euphoria. I have felt Euphoria with Amphetamine Sulphate and Mushrooms its different types of Euphoria nonetheless you will get Euphoric of Xanax Bars and Clonazepam you feel good ! that is what Euphoria is.

The transition from a anxious mood to a baseline one can be quite relieving, with this "euphoria" being relative to how anxious you are before dosing benzos and how much natural dopamine you have in the prefrontal cortex.

I wouldn't really say benzos produce "euphoria" in the sense of opiates or other drugs, however if something is bothering me, benzos will usually make me not care about it, which can be relieving. I've been using/addicted to benzos on and off for 4 years. In the beginning I wouldn't really say they did anything to me except make me tired. However, I have learnt to distinguish, and also enjoy the effects more as time has passed. Maybe this is because I have more problems to worry about these days than when I first started using drugs.

I enjoy benzos, but in terms of euphoria, both alcohol and weed is better.

So would you agree that benzodiazepines don't produce euphoria, and that most people are mislabeling anxiolysis as euphoria, or is this just my theory?

I think xanax gives me some damn good euphoria. Where ill be up to do stuff I usually don't want to. I'd take an opiate over benzo any day but yea benzos can still give euphoria. I find that I usually need to smoke with the benzo to get a good feeling otherwise it isn't that great.

in response to the earlier labelling of benzos producing euphoria - i just mean that if all of a sudden word got out that benzodiazepenes now also had the potential to produce high levels of euphoria in people (as temazepam did when the jellies were around, in the UK at least) it would lead to them being more controlled in terms of prescriptions as what happened to temazepam. it's incredibly hard to get a temazepam script nowadays and many psychiatrists hesitate to do so and instead give out nitrazepam and the z-drugs now.

but in response to your theory perhaps its correct. i guess the only time i've abused benzos is when i'm anxious or nervous about something, i guess that could (in my opinion) count as euphoric as i was wound up and agitated thus transitioning into a calm and worry-free place in my mind.

however like i said earlier, if i had any flunitrazepam i wouldn't hesitate for a second to take it now. or at any given moment regardless of anxiety or not. something about that benzo just doesn't add up for me, it was so euphoric it made opiates look lame (for me anyway). essentially if i had a choice between that or any opiate of my choice, i'd straight away take the flunitrazepam. unfortunately i only had 20 tablets or so of it, but they were all gone within a week.

i also really like valium. it's just soothing and peaceful. i think it also has something to do with the muscle relaxing effects of it - along with nitrazepam which i also find soothing and relaxing. everything just seems to flow more gently when i take it, i don't nod off, but i just.... go to that happy place i'm in like with opiates. not the skin tingling or mentality state, but that general feeling of relaxation... a deep relaxation and sense of wellbeing

i know that for me xanax used to get me high. i would put it under my tounge and feel euphoric effects similar to opiates, but now its no longer the case. i use it to comedown mostly now from drugs I've been taking or when I'm desperate and just want to knock my lights out.

Yes, I would agree. Taking benzos would make me relaxed, not having to worry about anything and sometimes they would make me more sociable but just taking benzos could never turn a boring day into a fun one.

benzos + cannabis has turned a boring day into a fun one
for me. several times. :)

i think benzos gift some with that 'relaxed state of well-being.'
which for some ppl can be considered euphoric..
especially when they rarely feel well to begin with.
i can understand that.

to me, euphoria actually means more of a 'state of exaggerated happiness'..
and i've never felt that with any substance besides an opiate.

Yeah man benzo's give me relaxation, which could be equated as euphoria I guess. Opiates make me feel nice. Benzos make me feel nice in a different way. Reckon it doesnt matter what you call it. But that brings to question the definition of euphoria. Is just feeling nice good enough to be considered euphoria? Or does a drug have to have you rolling your eyes in pleasure to be considered euphoric?

In the UK? Temazepam is prescribed quite often here in the USA. I think it's a good hypnotic, very relaxing without the added sedation of nitrazepam (which is not really prescribed here)

i agree with the fact its a great hypnotic, i've had it prescribed only once but it was incredibly difficult to get my doc to scribe it to me. after the glasgow epidemic of jelly injectors they had a major crackdown on the stuff. it's a shame really. you need a pink slip now (schedule two drug/controlled drug) - same as amphetamines and major opiates.
