Opioids Advice for withdrawal/tapering please

I found lowering the dose every few days in smallish increments to be the best way. It does drag things out though. You have to weigh the pros and cons of taper vs shorter cold turkey. Good luck.

Put down the bong? What's your problem? Don't bother answering if I frustrate you. Fuck off.

Listen Mr. all-of-nine-posts I wasn't having a go, but you were told twice that oxycodone = oxycontin. It seemed to me a bit like selective listening. All the best.

I think people are just getting frustrated because you aren't seeming to grasp the fundamental fact that oxycontin = oxycodone. 60 mg of oxycodone a day is the exact EXACT same thing as 60mg of oxycontin per day.

That being said, you got plenty of good advice on tapering. Stick to the lowest dose possible to get you about half way out of withdrawal - enough to make it bearable. Then slowly decrease over a week or two and them jump off. Once you get down to 10mg a day, or 5mg a day if you want to be safe, the withdrawal should be much more manageable.

Loperamide (immodium) is gonna be your best friend, since it greatly reduces most withdrawal symptoms, in my experience. There are some good threads about it on here.

There is no set time for withdrawal, no way we can tell how sick you'll get. Your mentallity going into it will play a huge role, as well as how far you go to keep your mind off of it, stay active, stay HYDRATED, and maintain proper nutrition.

Your habit isn't small time, but it isn't out of control either. I have faith you'll do well in yoru endeavor if you try not to sweat the small stuff and keep your head up. The acute physical withdrawal should be over within a week, with some risidual aches and pains, and trouble sleeping. The mental cravings are the hardest, which last a while.

You can private message me or email me if you want and I can help you more if you need to.

Good luck

on a habbit of roughly 70mg of oxy a day, I think you would be fine splitting all the methadone up into 2mg crumbles, then taking one of those a day until they are almost gone, then split the last ones up to 1mg piles and take them one a day.

Its very easy to hold yourself with way less methadone than one would think, but going from 2mg to 0mg of methadone is the toughest part.

I used to go to the clinic for 3mg a day for a while (I had been going at 80mg a day for a few months and started a rapid taper, tapering 5mg every other day until I got down to 10mg, then 1mg every other day until I got to 3, then I took 3mg per day for about a week, each day drinking just a tiny bit less of the liquid.

then as soon as i stopped dosing I was going through methadone withdrawal (which is less intense than oxy withdrawal, and thus able to be dealt with, but it just lasts SOOOOO LONG... i withdrew for over a month and then relapsed because i was still in withdrawal)

the point of this post is that you would be amazed at what 2mg of methadone can do if your hurting, especially with such a small habbit.

And if you only have like 5 or 10 10mg methadone pills I dont think its enough to worry about getting "addicted to methadone"...

Hebrew Hammer - in your opinion if it possible if a person begins MMT and keeps it under control, like it sounds you did, i.e., not getting up to like 250mg or something, to get off after 6months to a year without having to experience actual withdrawal? Why can't you just reduce by 1mg every fortnight?
