fuck you. I had a look and started posting before i even realised what the forum was about. I thought it was a newie events forum or something. Now i can't leave the place for some reason.... people on there are kinda 'funny'

I get told off because my mind seems to work alot differently to most people on there and they don't like what i say. It's funny ;)

did anyone go to nutshell?? how was it

Nutshell was great! Anyone who didn't go seriously missed out.
Everyone was back and it was just like old times. I would tell you what kid kenobi's set was like if I could remember any of it. But the newcastle crew went off, their enjoyment in playing really made the vibe.

^^^^ MAAANNNN!!! YOU SUCK!!

I wish i went

last nutshell I went to was the 2nd birthday party....(long time eh!)

This just in!

There is much activity in the Mercury building at the moment. Evidentally it is opening as MBar. Not a nightclub; but a restaurant/bar.

I dont think it will be a nightspot at all as I think its only got an early close license for restaurants (they are a lot easier to get then licenses for pubs who open late).

It kind of sprang up real quick. I was down that way not long ago and there was nothing at all to suggest it was anything more then a abandoned building, but now it seems to be almost open.

I'll have to dig up more info. Failing that, I'll break in and take photos of their files with a tiny camera.

the whole train saga is/was just a ploy to get the trains stopped so no noise could bother all the residents moving into their new currently being built apartments. i'd say mbar is part of this development plan. old merc owner probably sold it for a nice figure.

if a monthly techno/electro/electroclash/ebm night sprung up, how many ppl do you know (including yourself) would consider attending?.

yes i'm researching, forgive.

thanks
ss

^^ hell nutshell was started on the good will and big gut of Kato and Auxilary promoting at parties where they played funkyhouse. they would drop a breakish track to see who dug it and hand thema Nutshell is coming flyer..

oh and droping that "This is NUTSHELL" track..

so the kensington theater is going to be a nightclub.. that end of town has so much cheese(Fannys, Frostbites, "halo [wtf]", and now this.. it has to get a bit mouldy and pretentions go to one venue... meaning another will need to play somthing fairly different to get a crowd..

newcastle is loosing its soul.. uni is dieing, trains are going, nights out arn't what they used to be, no warehouse parties like old.., and kababs with cheese cost $7.50!!

I know I know I'm jaded

oh and to ice the cake the lucky is just shit these days....

STOP CRYING WOODY AND GET OVER IT!!

I'd show. If it was music they liked (Trance/HT/Techno), I know a lot of others who would show. It would need to be well advertised and organised and It would need to be somewhere that wasnt Club Nova...

^^^oh yeah... it'll be serious. put on a few parties back in 2002 with 2 other bl, one at the cambridge front room, where i'm thinking again, so long as management has changed since back then.

this time however i want to focus specifically on the genres to be played, those that i truly are passionate about and also feel are not represented in newcastle. a new themed night. nutshell is great, the guys are responsible for giving the newcastle clubbers at least one party to look forward to each month for over the last few years. nobody can compete with their parties. they deserve much respect. they play breaks, i don't.

early in the evening there would be electroclash, 80's inspired dance music, and as the night progressed the tempo would be upped with techno and electro. i believe trance lovers will find the harder techno genres are equally as pleasing as their regular listen, and let's face it, there is not much left to satisfy a hard dance lovers appetite in newcastle, so acid techno i'm sure would be more than adequate ;)

i'm expecting to start by next year on a regular basis, possibly getting up guys and girls from syd to guest, but i have a problem, finding genre suitable local djs, of which i would need at least 2.

so if you know anybody into these genres please let them know i'm interested, whether they dj or not.

^^I know the cambos new manager.. I think he wanted nutshell & ect & ect he's a real nice guy and would be happy to talk business..

maybe try for a free wednesday night party there to start as many of the ex-lucky type go there now and they are freakish enough to defintly enjoy..

not to say your a freak.
