I love Newcastle for the people. There amazing, but I use to live in Melbourne and everytime I said to someone I was from Newcastle they'd say "Oh, thats a pretty deviate area isn't it?" - Like they think people from Newcastle are all white trailerpark trash idiots! ... Hahaha.

But I agree, Newcastle rocks! - Im just sick of people thinking it's some dumphole!

My whole fam is from there! :D - Grrrr.. Hehe

I actually drove up to newcastle tonight to go see a friend. I must admit I hate the fucking town. Its like a country town that has had the Fab 5 fly through and shit on a couple of buildings here and there.

Its dead, and if you dont have a car you would be stuffed i reckon. But I have to admit, there seems to be alot of development around the bay area, or docks or whatever.

It looks very much like Finger Wharf (sydney) style or Pyrmont and i think its turning up nice.

We actually stopped to get some take away coffees, but after ordering inside the place looked nice. it was old, but had comfy lounges, funky music a pool table, candles and we stayed to drink for a bit.

^Veiw factory

I like that place mainly for fletch the bar guy tho he's such a tripper and he has always been 100% 180 degrees

I miss newcastle. I think newcastle is a place that grows once you delve in and find the beuiful people and beutiful places. If I were to give a tour of newcastle I think you would disagree on it's shittyness start for a swim at the bogey hole then go for coffee at derby st somewhere. then to my favorite watering holes Clarendon by day Lucky Cuntry by night. and about once or twice a month there is good partin down going on in the CBD. Nutshell is allways good.

Anyways newcastle has lots more life than you may think and I MISS IT AND MY FRIENDS!

^^ Totally agree with you IWoody.. there are good places to go and things to do but you really need to know where they are..

Nutshell is the best.. Everyone i've taken to it has been blown away by the event. Seeing acts like Moguai, Drummatic Twins, Freq Nasty, Stanton Warriors (next month :) ), Krafty Kuts etc in a intimate environment that isn't full of show ponies where everyone totally goes off is awesome and for mine what breaks events are all about! Even the locals like Kato, Fallon and Dr Aux put on some banging sets.. </gush>

Newcastle has its downfalls but def has its upside as well. I can see exactly where you're coming from papermate and i imnagine i'll be iehter moving to syd or overseas myself soon but there is a laidback atmosphere and lifestyle here that counts for alot too.

Just ot add to that there are also alot of completely and utterly shit places,. people and things about the place too, however, if you know where all the good places/events are it becomes drastically different..

Well i travelled to newie around the time of parthinium last year, with dante and doon in toe, where I met the doofqueen, long time Bluelight Boys Blue Bathrobe Brigade co-el-prezidente Superdiscobreaka and the lovely belisimo. the 25 or so mins of newie and the surrounding area that I saw on the way to the doof was lovely :)
newie rocks!

Ooh yes, oooh yes *remembers fondly*

Crap! I met moochoo and punch e punch too! they were kickass! newie crew gets mad respect from the cbr crew ;)

What i like about newcastle is that people actually smile back at you and say hello :)

Not all this rush rush i dont have a minute for you shit like you get in big cities

Not many people smile in Windale *laughs*

Ewww.. Windale! - They should demolish that entire place, rename it and make it classy surburan living only minutes from the beautiful lake macquarie!

shals :D

Dude - you've just not done windale properly..

Get a torrie (A Torana)
Get yourself some chisel/barnsey
Get yourself the cheapest beer you can find

Apply all 3 whilst doing burnouts/handbrake turns etc down the main drag and you'll find that you'll have attained the social acceptance in Windale that you've always wanted ;)

Anthropologically the place is great! We need it. You just need to have hill-billy music or Dukes Of Hazard music playing in the background! go on... try it.. you'll never go to another rave again =D

*Laughs*

oz knows how to become windalen accepted!

Bwahaha :)

shals!

I must admit that I recently moved out of Newcastle cos I was bored with the place. And I don't miss living there.
Newcastle is quite geographically beautiful in some areas (eg. the beach suburbs) but in terms of culture and nightlife its not the most happening place on earth.
The best thing about Newie is some of the ppl there. Sometimes I feel like I must know all the best ppl in Newie cos I've got some amazing friends there who I still catch up with as often as possible.

^WTF! Where are you these days

Now living in the burbs in newcsatle did that to you I thinks

I'll be back in Newcastle this week/end for a limited time only ..

Will try and post here later to organise a small lucky meetup .. unless all this talk of the lucky is merely heresay and conjecture.

"the lucky" - surely a man of your status diego would not have to visit the lucky. I would suggest the snake, but it is now a doof bar overrun by the 'slick sydney jerk' subculture. However The Lucky's rustic charm and its suprising likeness to Moe's Tavern are quite appealing and i think beers were $2.90 last time i visited to see The Chemical play in May this year.:)
