I'll rule with an iron butt plug!!!

I'm all for helping organizing it but not at such a cliche' place as Amsterdam..If anyone's been on here for the 10 years BL has been around you've probably taken enough drugs to make Neil Armstrong green with envy. Why not step aside from your PC and go to enjoy sunny beaches, cheap domestic labour(servants), exotic culture and more naked gurus can you can shake a stick at. As for the drugs, hippies love India so that shouldn't be a problem. :)

strangely i had you in mind ;)

i'm all in favour of going to Goa for a bluelight social...

...but i don't think it's the right place for a global meetup!

it's a long way, and quite foreign to many in terms of culture and customs. although generally lax it also falls under the same 'risk depends on the official you encounter at the time' category as Thailand... and given that there will be a lot of us, and most everyone will be wasted most of the time, i think the relative security of a more legally friendly environment is a Good Thing - not to mention the fact that amsterdam is a first-world country (so: less chance of bribing a policeman, but also less chance of festering in some regional mini-Hitler's rat-infested cells). from a musical point of view we're more likely to be able to organise our own venue with our own artists etc. in amsterdam - especially considering the fact that there are bluelighters who live there and have contacts there. in addition, there's likely to be a bit more musical variation for those people who want eurotrance or deep house or ghettotek.

in fact i think being able to organise our own event which will occur at some point during the meetup is essential. we have so many talented artists, DJs and promoters that we should be able to sort out something seriously cool.

definitely agree re: everyone having taken plenty of drugs. and there should be (and will doubtless be) chances for people to meet up and just chat. to paraphrase someone else (sillyalien?) i'm not going to travel all this way to meet people only to be fucked all the time and not actually get to know them.

however, going on past experience, i can't really see a global meetup turning into a sober and rational real-life discussion forum... it's more likely to turn into one giant cuddlepuddle.

i have always wanted to visit goa also.

i would goa there in a heartbeat! but dam does seem to be a bit safer. and anything is better than bangin guinea pig in the mcdonalds bathroom outside of disney world.

dr seuss, i don't see a need to really plan much until september...there will still be almost two years of planning.

water safety; electricity

:) thanks for feedback on goa theory! Let's compromise- the "official" (as if BL could ever be "officiol haha) meetup in A'Dam and a smaller more "spiritual pilgramige" type unofficial meetup geared more toward vegetarian hippies? The water safety issue concerns me more than the electricity, but there are safety precautions we could take. expect the goa fiasco to be ALOT more inconvenient and expensive than A'Dam, but more rewarding for goaheads from a sociological perspective. pm me for suggestions on how to make this safe and sane, but seriouse suggestions only please!

BL- forever informal

of course, the whole idea of a "global meetup" (while rad) seems a bit pressumptuouse to me, and i prefer the idea of millions of small intimate meetups in every country. But all you guys will no doubt be having fun in A'Dam and I hope it comes off charmingly.

yr rad

Silly, it was sweet you said I was welcome to the global meetup, but I feel showing my love in Goa (internet access?) would be better for me persoanlly and have less chance of legal bullocks [nevermindthebullockshaha]. pretty chill there as I understand it, although the scene kinda blew up too much and is now far trashier than once, yet the location is of historical, spiritual, and sociological significance and goatrance has become my choice as far as spinning is concerned, but I am a very amature aspiring DJ (give me a year!). If yr into Goa (music or place) check out the fantastic book "Goa Freaks" which I read in bed with a huge breakfast at a halfway house after a day and night of raiding a haunted squater's warehouse with a buddy for materials to construct a rad fort with wood and tarp under a bridge and we freezed our asses off and smoked rollies all night, therefor reading "Goa Freaks" with a huge breakfast at the house was *so* cozy. pm any time. put in a good word fro "Modest Proposal" thread in Support forum i think it would be one of the raddest tech projects ever. peaceout.tripout.eatout.

from now on, especially when talking to straights and travel agents and so on, let us all refer to our chosen destination as:
HAMSTER DAMN
Let's see if anyone picks up on it. :D

I vote for anywhere in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland or Israel. All places where bluelighters who deny the holocaust would be less likely to show up.

AmorRoark: Dude! Germany! It's fucking illegal to deny the Holocaust! Probably is in Israel as well - with the added benefit that Israelis are the world's biggest goa-heads. (Course, Berlin pwnz0rs techno, so that's another option). We could get the most obnoxious BLers arrested :D

Suess: I love the idea of this meetup including our own event, with our own DJs. That would be the highlight of this meetup for me. [Can I spin for a few hours in the chillout room?]

Yah, all the countries I listed have laws against holocaust denial. The penalties range...

Austria: 6 months - 10-20 years
Belgium: Fine - 1 year
Czech Republic: 6 months - 2 years
France: Fine or 1 month - 2 years
Germany: Fine or 6 months - 5 years
Israel: 1 year - 5 years
Italy (law against racial discrimination): 3 years - 4 years
Lithuania: Fine or 2 years - 10 years
Poland: Fine or 3 months - 3 years
Romania: 6 months - 3-5 years
Slovakia: Fine or 1 month - 3 years
Switzerland: Fine or 1 year - 15 months

Take your pick. I'm down with em all. ;)

i'd support a bill introducing corporal punishment for those who deny that "apocalypse 91 is the bext rapp album ever"

only corporal punishment?

Capital punishment or bust.

Valid points made there Seuss, I guess from an organizer's point of view having a meet-up in a country with dubious drug laws and police behaviour isn't the best of options. It's a pity though I guess you can't have it all.

How about a small pilot meet-up about a year from now for the express purpose of location hunting?

My friend didnt invite me to England for that reason. He knows I would raised hell.

Soo Hamster Damn then... I mean from the poll it looks like it...

Although I doubt 119 people will show up.
