2013-2014 Football Thread v.3 - Come on You Hull

Haha massive Rovers fan here. Been a bit guttening, but it's what I expected. We did ourselves proud in the first tie though, and held our own in the first half. Still, Forest on Saturday's a more important match for us, just gutted Rhodes is out. I hope it is an injury and he isn't off to some Premiership team

'Twas such a shame I had to work on a Sunday eh? I guess it was just delaying the inevitable, Jose has never lost at the bridge has he? United certainly weren't going to change that, even had city fans cheering for us ! They must be scared.

Compared to the pl etc they would probally struggle in championship possibly high level league 1 , something like 52nd best league in the world football so gauge ur standard! Man city have just bought Melbourne heart.. See if I manage to stay up might slap an in play bet on Sydney have been scoring for fun recently (feel Piero plays for them) a-league can be entertaining

I forced myself to watch a few Melbourne Victory games last year while down under in my attempt to fit in, yeah the standard is definately low, but not that low, I couldn't afford live games(150 dollar tickets) so watched them at the pub with other expats.

The season before my team Torino was in Serie B and I went to a few live games, honestly the level I saw in the A-League wasn't much lower than that, I guess a team like Melbourne Victory would be midtable in Serie B, perhaps even higher than that.
 
Tmrw on ITV.1 at 3pm they are showing the FA Cup fourth round clash between Chelsea and Stoke City.
Be nice to have a game to watch on Sunday afternoon without the need to have a Sky subscription.

Not good enough for me to watch the regular season games. They have a salary cap of $2.5million for the whole squad and survive on selling all their decent youth players to Europe. You do the math. Alessandro Del Piero still has the ability to carve them up when his ham strings are healthy. If I was to guess I'd say mid to low table Championships, the better teams have the quality to knock off a mid table Stoke or WBA on their night but they definitely don't have the depth for a 40 game season to compete.

The biggest draw back on standard of play is they play on pitches the day after a rugby match.

Just seen the 5th round draw for FA Cup & couple of good games there.
Man City v Chelsea
Arsenal v Liverpool
Think the next round is played over the weekend of 14th & 15th February.
 
Can moyes fuck off yet?

Why buy mata if your going to play him on the wing? Hes not a winger. I thought we might actually got 4-2-3-1, this rigid 442 against a stoke side that have huge cunts and we are whipping in crosses, cleverley skying it from 4 yards.

I still think the club should stick with him, chopping and changing wont help anything and will only mean another season of transition. Its just his tactics are frustrating, im still backing him though. He inherited an average team though but since fergie has gone we have just lost all urgency and seems the players just dont have the belief anymore.

This is exactly like how we played last season though, just we had a fit van persie we got us out of trouble countless times. I think we need to move away from 442.

I still think we dodged a bullet with mourinho though, he do sent half cry, he was so critical of west ham saying they play 19th century football, yet that is exactly how he sets up in big games.

^Aye I feel for you geordies, your owners are almost as bad as the glazers. Could be worse for united though, I am still waiting for the end of next season, if after the amount of money he is going to spend in the summer does not make us title contenders and we continue to play shit then he has to go, as its clear he is not man united quality.

The thing with being a Manchester utd fan atm is, if your approx the same age as me you've known nothing but joy, yes? I honestly believe they could of hired any manager & he would of had the same difficulties. Big shoes too step into. Give Moyes 2 years see what he achieves after the summer (if the glazers invest).

Mike Ashley is a very rich & successful man, but he's running the club like a shop, buy em cheap sell em at a profit. I'd just like someone who actually understands what the club means to the city to own us. But the age' old better the devil you know a suppose. Hopefully he'll fuck off n buy rangers before they get promoted! Rant over.

What happened to man united's infamous development strategy? Weren't you guys looking down at everyone else for buying themselves a half decent team? It's pretty easy to be smug when you sell so many ugly shirts in china to talk about new money ruining the league but hard to accept when you are terribly mediocre and likely to be pissing about in the Europa league for the next 5 years.
