2012 PGA thread v. green jackets and slow greens

i get in a pool where you have to pick 5 golfers and all need to make the cut in order to qualify to win it

i'm thinking: phil, rory, donald, scott and watney

nobody wants to see that, believe me.

Oh you'd be surprised at the lemon party fans out there Ali. I guess you are just shooting off your mouth again.......

CS I grew up around the racing industry and if you had seen the stuff I have been around you wouldn't waste your time betting on sport. My grandfather was an illegal SP book maker and I was running stings around book making rings as soon as they would take my money. I was running tens of thousands of dollars for men who were more than happy to make things disappear from countries throughout the Pacific. Not to mention smuggling and administration of doping products. I have seen horses go from sleepy relaxed state to wanting to smash out a float, charge around the track in record time then try to dry hump one of those little concrete jockeys they paint up in winning colours and plant in the rose garden.

If you think it is easy to rig a horse race you would be horrified to know how easy it is to fix a major sporting event, especially one that has more than one event each year. Olympics are special because they come around once every 4 years but even then a gold medal is not worth as much as what criminal gangs can afford to create an upset. The NBA season is +100 games so throwing one of those is a given. No alarm bells go off if a team comes back from 13 pt ar 3/4 time but it should. A golfers career is what, up to 20 years, that is 80 majors they can potentially win. If you have already won one, and were leading going into the final round by 3 shots and someone offers you $10mill to tank it is it worth it?

I take sport for what it is, and I may sound as kooky as the NWO freaks in CE&P, but I take any sporting event at face value and the only form of gambling I partake in is car and income insurance. Or maybe if the black jack dealer is sitting on an ace....;)

cool story.

actually, i really cool story, and one that i'd like to hear more of sometime.

i've never been a gambler. i'll bet my buddy $10 that i can take a leak further than him and bet on the occassional ping pong match, or round of golf, but i don't gamble on sports.

you should see all the 30 to 40 somethings i work with that probably spend more time on the phone with their bookies than they do with their clients. it's pretty funny.

not something i've ever been into. although i'll fuck shit up on the black jack table any time i'm in vegas.

Even worse are pokie machines. I have even had mates make me sit next to them while in the next room there are hot women getting drunk. They would even feed $20 into the machine in front of me and ask me to play it., When they go to take a piss I hammer the maximum bet and lose all their money. The saddest dude I have seen would cover the screen with a piece of cardboard and simply play by sound. The dude was an real life gigilo aged 70 so I guess his life could get sadder than that.

The real danger with sport betting is on the subcontinent where the bookies are illegal but they also take micro bets. i don't know what it is like in the States but in India you could for instance bet on weather the next pitch would be a ball or strike or if 4 batters will get a hit in the next innings. These kind of bets are dangerous because they won't change the outcome of the match but they will allow gangs to get inside players pockets. Knowing you will have to throw 6 balls in a row in the 3rd innings won't affect your next contract but once you become part of the scene you are open to blackmail. The next time it could be throwing the 7th game of the World Series for a cool $10mill.

Golf has so many tournaments both on the PGA and nationwide that you could make a mint rigging small microbets. Even stupid shit like whether or not you will throw your putter and have to use your 2 iron on the green would make you a fortune.

I guess you are just shooting off your mouth again.......
dude, i've sported a steelers avatar and a ny giants avatar because of lost bets on here. i have a norwegian flag tattooed on my leg because of a lost sports bet. i have never welshed on a bet.

i'll make a bet with you but not that. when you're in your 40s, you'll understand :)

Please I'm 37 I have nothing to gloat about.

Besides the Steelers were all over New England that season and I can only imagine how many hot Scandavian chicks that tattoo has pulled over the years.

Perhaps you have heard some Tiger whispers and are having second thoughts? ;)

Haha how the fuck did you agree to that bet? 8)

I'm guessing either copius amounts of single malts or some hot Norwegian chick.

There is currently 38 players within 3 shots of the lead in the Sicilian Open.

Mickelson rolling along nicely aswell. 2 behind with 5 to play on first round. Hope he doesnt peak too early like he did last year

i just traded it in for the new one today

it's weird, there are no more %.....chipping around the green is hard as fuck, new putting is a little easier but kind of lame, maybe i'll adjust

and i don't have xbox live
