2012 - 2013 Football Thread

Nobody qualifies as hosts.

The cost of the tournament is spread over lots of countries in times of economic hardship.

The most pissed off European :sus: nation n the one that is bang against this is Turkey . Apparently they missed out to France by 1 vote & thought this one was theirs.

If it were spread about then Scotland, Wales , Northern Ireland & England would all want a bit of it.
Having no automatic qualifier is a good thing surely ?

It's only for one tournament anyway.

I'm more opposed to the extra 8 teams being included from now on. 4 groups of 4 is perfect.

Fair point that. (Although Osbourne promises us that the UK will be growing by 2020, really and truly... ;)). More seriously, the Turks did want it, so maybe would have been good to give it to them. And it would presumably mean significantly higher costs for the fans. Suppose it won't hurt to try it and see if it works, but I don't really like the idea at first glance.

Yeah but its one shit tournament followed by one horrific tournament, im sure people still think the Qatar games is a joke.....

It would be good if England got a game ... in England the atmosphere would be great, but it kind of misses the point of the games. Bringing loads of different fans togethor etc as most would just stay in there own country if there was a game, also the fans that like to watch a variety of games they are not going to be travelling.. hmm still not sure on it to be honest.

No to modern football. Hearing things like this makes me want to have my head cracked by a night stick. Seriously I'll have to start supporting a non-league team, the institutions are single-handedly trying to destroy the sport. Hosting the WC in Qatar is a disgrace, this idea of spreading the Euros across is crazy, wouldn't be surprised one bit if it turns out Ryan Air and Easy Jet are major sponsors for the event.

Fucking get in there.Yet another win for Ipswich Town today, beat Millwall 3-0 today.
I think we may have now won 5 out of our last 6 games. Old Mick McCarthy is certainly doing something right.
Am a happy man today.

Agreed, this is the craziest plan I have heard since that rubbish about Away goals counting in the champions league GROUP games, which is the only reason Chelsea are not in the competition anymore.

If they think its such a good idea, why not try it in Euro 2016 qualifying tables as well and see how that goes

Moving swiftly on, Got 40-1 on Aguero scoring first and Citeh to win 2-0
Dont let me down Kun

Is that right? Shit, what a stupid idea. I thought it was something to do with head-to-head results rather than goal difference. You got no chance with your Aguero bet though, he's shit - there's a reason United signed Bebe instead of him ;)

Fuck, TV just showing Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall at the Etiihad. 30, 000 United fans applied for 3000 tickets, and no doubt there are just as many City fans who want to be there, and these pricks get into the stadium instead.

Yep its cos Shakhtar scored 2 goals at the Bridge and we scored 1 in Ukraine. With last years rule Chelsea finish 2nd via goal difference and Shakhtar end up 3rd

Moronic rule to say the least.
What do they think teams will do? be winning 4-0 at home on matchday 2 and the other team suddenly wakes up after 70 mins and thinks " erm we better score 2 here and lose 4-2 , cos if we beat em 2-0 on matchday 5, we win our tiebreaker"

Fucking moronic rule, and no idea how it makes the games any more attractive or entertaining.

Just another Michel Pratini brainwave

"Manchester United, on the road at Man City. United are 12-0-3 for the season while City are unbeaten with nine wins and six ties for the season".

"Awesome hustle by Rooney and he shoots past the goaltender. Two zero to Manchester"

"The Manchester united's are heading for a shutout " 8(

Oh and Fuck off Potatohead as well.

Need to start thinking about tonights NFL games now to make my money back.

Suburu , i want to take your Ravens to cover over Washington later, but not seen enough of them this year, iS the D good enough to clamp down on RG3?
You guys got totally whacked in Houston so im thinking about staying away from that game

Love it. Although I think they'd be like "The Manchester Red Devils" (I've heard Americans talk about the "Arsenal Gunners").

I wouldn't be confident at all TLM. With Flacco's inconsistency, Cam Cameron's cluelessness, no Webb, no Lewis, Ngata and Reed not fully fit and now Suggs is playing with a torn bicep. Alfred Morris is a big danger. I'd look somewhere else.
